We had a lot of questions when we went in and they went above and beyond explaining things, gave us printed information, and wrote things down for us. They always fit our seasonal pool openings and closings into their busy schedule with a smile. They're easy to communicate with and they make it easy and effortless to pay them, which is a big deal if you're busy and want less complications in your life. I have done business with this company for the past two years, bringing water samples in and purchasing chemicals, and even a robotic vacuum last summer which cost hundreds of dollars. I had them come on 2 occasions last summer to help with a service need, both times was changed 90.00 and the problem wasn't fixed. In October I paid them to close my pool and heater. During this process they damaged a part of the heater. When I went to have them open the pool this spring I found the pool damaged due to the pool not being closed properly. I have asked them to take responsibility and they refused. I didn't keep a copy of the bill to close the pool, however I have 6 adults who were here to witness them coming. I would not trust them to do anything with my pool in the future. read more

People put so much effort into researching the right spa when they should be researching the right company just as much !!!! A good product with bad service or lack of company support can easily become a bad purchase . I have been working with pools and cues for over 15 years for both my pool and spa . When I need them they are there and I have never found service elsewhere that can come close . From changing my pool liner to fixing the spa when I had issues , to helping me when I can't seem to balance the water chemicals they always meet my needs . I appreciate the quality products but I can get that anywhere , it's the great service and follow thru that keeps me coming back . I ordered pockets for a pool table. They took my money and after a month of waiting and a few phone calls, I find out not only did they not pay the vendor for the pockets but also they never measured them to make sure they ordered the correct size. The service I was given by Devon brought me back when I needed to replace my 40 year old cue stick. They carry the major brands and will custom order what you need. I play McDermott exclusively and again Devon has not let me down, before or after the sales. When I needed a part for our old Saratoga spa, Pool Cues & Spas had the obscure part. The Saratoga is being replaced now. So who do you think I went to see to purchase it's replacement? That is right! I called Devon & asked him what his schedule was and told him I would be in a the shop in a half hour. I had given him preliminary information like pad size, and how many seats, etc. When I arrived I was promptly and professionally greeted, as is the norm here! He had some recommendations and within an hour we were custom crafting our new Dimension 1 hot tub. Pricing and service has been exceptional. I just received a call stating that our new. Spa would be arriving in a week to 10 days. Am I excited? YES! Do I expect delivery and setup to go smoothly? We are already more than 2 weeks ahead of our schedule. So apparently the name of this store should be changed to Pools in the summer and pool tables only in the winter. My husband and I are looking to buy a pool table but they don't sell pool tables during swimming pool season. Just too busy...well this a a good way to not be busy anymore because I would never go back to this place. The atmosphere is hortific. We asked a young kid. He had to seek out an answer. Whoever he consulted didn't have the guts to come out and speak to us. They just has the kids tell us they can't sell or deliver pool tables at this time of the year. Horrible Experience! Chris Malanson attempted to have me begin payments immediately upon purchasing the hot tub. He said his uncle Bryan wanted him to attempt to have customers sign off and begin payments before receiving the hot tub. I would not sign off until the hot tub was hooked up and I was sure it was functioning. Brian left an inbox message on my Facebook account. Needless to say he's not a friend. He showed up out of control at my front door slurring and demanding that I sign off immediately. I attempted to meet with him and requested several times after that incident and his irrational behavior, but he was not interested. My hot tub was defective and let off a siren noise at 3 AM. John, the very professional repair person had to come out three separate times to repair it. The first time because of the siren noise, then it happened again and the third time he had to come back because there was a leak and it leaked out all of the water. The only reason they get one star is that the repair person, John who came out three times to my house is a class act and a true gentlemen. A perfect gentleman in fact. I sent the Melansons videos with dates of the defective malfunctions. I sent a formal complaint to the finance company that they use that is located in India, and needless to say that didn't go anywhere and it was very hard to communicate due to the time difference. I attempted to return the product because it was defective, and the Malansons are so unprofessional that I did not want to deal with them at all. The only reason I did not force them to take it back was due to illness in my family that had to take priority over a court battle. It Is a $10,000 purchase. I deeply regret dealing with Pools, Cues and Spas Too, and I genuinely hope that this review saves somebody the miserable treatment that I was subjected to as a customer. Horrible. read more

I agree with Adriana! I was given a gift card from my Real Estate Agent after buying a new home in Charlton. I have a 20 x 40 in ground pool. So the filter needed a PVC ball valve replaced as it was leaking. I called and gave them the information and was told that the valve would be $21 and change. The gift card was for $50 so I figured why not and that I could check this place out and perhaps this was going to be the beginning of a long term relationship with them seeing how I will need to maintain my pool at a minimum for 30 years or so. When I arrived at the store I walked in and was distracted by the old building that it I in. The temperature in the show room was awful! Humid and hot...no AC! Then it occurred to me that I would likely not buy any pool cue sticks as the humidity will warp them. I was planning on building a man town in my basement so the fact that they have pool tables etc also appealed to me. So I stood in the show room and gazed around until the point where I decided that I would just ask about the valve that I was there to pick up. It took several hellos before I got anybody's attention. I do not know who the lady is but just like Adriana said she was rude and unprofessional! I told her what I was there for, she looked at me like I had 2 heads...I was only asking for a PVC ball valve for crying out loud. When she finally understood what I was asking her for, and that I was the guy that JUST called about this valve only 20 minutes prior to walking into the store; she called over a guy to get the valve. He looked like the skinny guy with his fingers under his over all straps in the movie Deliverance! When he returns with the valve he tells me that the price was $53 and change! So I try to explain to him that they told me that it was only $21 and change on the phone. He was belligerent and refused to even listen to me. I explained to him that I plan on perhaps establishing a long term relationship with them because I am going to be building a man town and that I had the pool. He told me he doesn't care if I buy this one valve from him or if I never buy anything from him. That was when I realized that I would choose the latter, and NEVER buy anything from him! I then did have him refund the $50 gift card value. If YELP would allow no stars I would have submitted this review without a single star! read more

I have been going to Pools and Cues for the past several years. They are knowledgeable, polite, and always willing to help. We have purchased pool ladder, motor for filter and all our supplies. Everytime I go in I am greeted with a big hello! This year, due to the weather, our above ground pool collapsed. We went to Pools and Cues in March and met with Chris. He took his time to explain everything we needed to know and things I didn't know I needed to know! Very patient. We were contacted by Chris when it was time to schedule the installation. The date was set and their wonderful crew of Sean and Nick took great care and considerable time to make sure this replacement pool would NEVER succumb to a New England winter. Extremely horrible experience with staff member I believe his name was Chris. Completely blew me off provides a vague answer to my questions. Told his co-worker to continue helping other people that he'd eventually get around to helping me. At one point said he needed to do something else. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I'm still a agitated that people don't have good customer service. Why work in the field if your not good at it. I've gone there for a couple of years but surely will be looking for somewhere else to get my supplies because it was really unpleasant. We walked into Pools & Cues on a whim -- not really thinking we would buy anything. But we met with Erin and she was just amazing. She knew everything inside and out about each spa. She didn't try to sell us what we didn't need and answered any and all questions that we had. Delivery was a cold winter day and the crew arrived as scheduled and on time. We walk in with water samples and we are always met with friendly, knowledgeable staff. We purchase all of our spa needs here as well. I know that there are online sites to get these things but supporting a local business is important and really customer service is what everyone is looking for. Without getting into the saga of events, Pools & Cues does not communicate with customers. We paid for a pool back in April and after the installation date changed about 4 times and was going to change again, I made an agreement with the manager that if the pool was not installed by Friday, July 1st, the equipment would be picked up and I would be given a full refund. The manager then changed his mind and decided that I would not pay for the installation once it was completed so he had his staff pick up the pool about an hour after we made that agreement and refunded me the following day. The management did not take accountability for their lack of communication and miscommunications when I did speak with them, then they questioned my integrity. I will never go to them again and I will never refer anyone to them. In fact, I warn you all to be prepared for chaos if you enter into an agreement with them. read more

Bought my pool here a few years ago, they didn't have a border piece at the time of installment and said they would order it. I've yet to see the missing piece! To top that off, Brian, who I believe is the husband of the owner, has a major attitude and treats customers like they're a dime a dozen, getting nasty and speaking to them like they are wasting his time. I guess this store is doing well enough to where they can mistreat customers and lose their business as a result. I will not be spending another dime at this store, and they can thank Brian for that. And to imagine all of this could have been avoided IF my innocent call to see where I was on the pool opening schedule wasn't treated with disrespect and irritation. I mean, the way he came at me verbally was just so horrendous, I've never been spoken to like that before by a business in my life. I was told 3 weeks ago that I would be on the schedule for early June, and didn't think that calling today for a simple inquiry was going to turn into a verbal disagreement with someone who is clearly NOT a professional or who has any idea what proper customer service is. I've spent thousands in that store, and Brian just threw all of that out the window. I'm extremely disappointed. well a lot of complaints on yelp, but when you get tired of not finding what you need at namco, or paying through the nose at Leslies', these folks have it in stock for a better price. i've maintained my pool for 40 years now. i've managed to find some obscure filter parts here, where other shops would require you buy a complete new assembly and not just the small peice you need. i'm not looking to make friends at every store i go into. although, personally, i've never had an issue here. maybe if you don't have a chip on your shoulder when you enter things will go better for you. read more

DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!! Contrary to what other reviews say about this company, they are awful. The customer service from the main female manager in charge was outrageous!!! She was not only disrespectful, but gave false information about what was included in the cost to open a pool for the summer. First we were charged $355 which was suppose to entail a vacuming procedure, of which, was never completed as they claimed the pool wasn't clear enough. They then proceeded to charge another $120 to come back and vacuum that same pool that was suppose to be including in the opening fee. When I called just to inquire (not complain), the woman on the other end of the line (took me three calls and service people later to give me an answer, all of which were extremely RUDE) answered me in such a condescening manor and had no intention of listening to the customer (ME), and proceeded to talk over me instead of address my additional reason for calling which was just to find out what the $120 was for. The whole time she talked over me she repeatedly said it costs gas, labor, etc... to send people out and that I had no business calling to reschedule a vacuum if I didnt intend to pay the extra $120. read more

So I stop in yesterday as I need a new pool store as Ideal in Southbridge has gone downhill so badly I wont deal with them anymore. I talk to the guy behind the counter and explain I am looking to do business with a new pool store and I need a new sand filter. I ask him what they carry and he says Hayward. So that is fine as that is the most common brand and parts and replacements are easily found. I tell him I have a 24" round pool and he says I need an 18" inch sand filter. I already knew this after days of research. So he looks in his binder and gives me the model of S180T. I already knew this too. He then says it is $379. I am totally stunned and thought he made a mistake. I said is that with the pump too? He says no. I ask if that included delivery and set up and take away of the old one? He says no. I say that is really high. He looks at me like I belong in an asylum. Ideal in Southbridge quoted me $299. for the S180T and so I stand in the store and go to Amazon and they have the S180T for $216 with free delivery and a 4 year protection plan for $25. Pools and Cues is $163 more expensive. Are people really paying those kind of prices there? If so, you are the ones who belong in a asylum. Needless to say they won't be getting my business. read more
