3.5/5 I heard they have the best jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk in Toronto so I had to try! The food here is good for the price. The jajangmyeon was good but the tangsuyuk was just alright, I've had better elsewhere. The sleeper was the champong, it was really good! It was unfortunately salty/contained MSG because I was really thirsty after the meal. I personally wouldn't go out of my way for this meal, but if you're in the area and looking for something fast, would recommend trying it!
Sunny Dragon is not only the best Korean-Chinese restaurant, but it also perhaps is one of my all-time favourite place to go to (their yuringi is the fried chicken...yes including church's, popeyes, Korean fried chicken, Taiwanese fried chicken etc etc...it is the best.) My family has loved this place since what, 2009? The yurungi (fried chicken), tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) are insanely good. Funny enough - they always had weak kimchi, but it seems that they changed their recipe for it in late 2024 & it is one of the best now. I have nothing food wise to pick on them other than the fact that the restaurant is quite old - so the vibe is not exactly "comfortable." but with food that good & also affordable? Lol. I love sunny D to death
I came with a group of 4 on a Saturday evening and was able to get seated right away, which I was happy about. The place has nice decor and a bell to call for service, which is super convenient. We ordered the Combo C...I think. Why do I think? The combos are all in Korean, and even the English translation is just the how the phonetic spelling of the dishes. Luckily we had someone who was Korean to translate for us. The combos aside, everything else were in both Korean and English Anyway, the portions were large so we even had some to take away. The best dish was the jia Jang, I definitely recommend that one. The yu rin gi and tang su yuk were very different from the Chinese style I'm used to eating and I found them to be ok. They were both much more deep fried than I was expecting and the yu rin gi didn't have much flavour to it outside of the fried part on top. The go chu jap chae did add some veggies to balance it off, though I did think it was on the oilier side as well. Despite the minor criticisms, it was still decent food and I enjoyed it.

There's a bell you ring on the wall once you're ready the order. The menu itself is a bit hard to decipher. I ended up googling the anglicized version of the combos to find out what each included. There's a good variety of mix and match dishes so really depends what you're in the mood for. We tried out a classic combo and was not disappointed! The portions are MASSIVE. Like, 6-8 people massive. The fried dishes were super fresh and the quality of the meat is really high too. I was so pleased! Beware, the spice level is quite high so you may want to ask for no spice if you're not good with that. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and craving some cheat day food.

This is fast food/comfort food when we want to get a cheap meal full of sugar and starch. Been going here off and on for years. Stopped for a bit when Iryewon open east of it. Same food, same prices, same sugar overload with an extra shot of insulin. The place is your usual JjaJangMyun house. No frills, no real BahnChahn. Come in, get fed, go out. The food is good. They aren't going to wow you but neither is it going to break the bank when you go. I actually do like their JjamPong and TangSooYuk. Lots of parking in the strip mall but can get busy but the wait is usually short as this is fast food. Cheers.
Came back here again recently and my experience was even better than last time! I came around the same time, late at night, and the food was still nice and warm. We got the sweet and sour chicken, family ja jang (for 1), and deep fried dumplings. All the fried items were nice and crunchy and still pretty hot. The family ja jang for 1 was still absolutely massive, likely enough for 3. This is probably my favourite restaurant for lots of delicious food at super affordable prices! I'll be looking forward to coming back again!
Personally, this is the best black noodle restaurant in town. The food tastes like authentic Chinese-Korean dishes you would find in Korea. It may not taste as good as what you would find in fancier or newer black noodle restaurants, but that's what makes it more authentic. Additionally, this is the only restaurant I know of that offers half-half dishes, such as half Tansuyeux (sour porc) and half black noodle. 요리 라는 느낌 보다는 예전 한국에 살았을때 시장 근처 로컬 집에서 먹을만한 짜장면 같아서 부담없이 자주가게 됨. 탕수육반 짜장면반 옵션이 있어서 좋음.
Portions here are huge so be prepared to eat and still have plenty to take home. Came here with a friend and we were both super hungry. Ended up getting combo A bc it says it will feed 2-3 people. I would say it's more for 4-5 people. Portions of pork and chicken were huge, and so was the noodles. Because this is Korean-Chinese fusion, you can def taste both aspects. Less oily than "traditional" Chinese food and noodles were not too salty (despite being very saucy).

So forgive me if this review is a little biased, but I love this restaurant It's a cute, family-style restaurant with plenty of tables and even booths (if you're lucky enough to get one). It's always busy in the evenings, especially on the weekend. The value for what you get is unlike no other! The portions are giant (like I said, family-style) and the price is very reasonable--I'm not sure how they make any money. Now, what to order? Well, Sunny Dragon is known for their Jajangmyun. Get the original and you will never be disappointed. I would also recommend the seafood broth soups (Cham Pong), especially the spicy one. It's a must have on cold days. The "deep fried" section also has the sweet & sour pork which comes in a ginormous serving (even though it's listed as small on the menu). It's served with a sweet pineapple & ginger sauce. Service has also gotten better over the years. Even on busy days, the banchan & food always come quickly.
One of the best a la cart Korean places you'll find around Yonge-Steeles. It states it's Chinese fusion but I find it pretty authentic. I love how they have combo sets. I always order the spicy seafood noodle with black bean sauce noodles. The spicy noodle is just the right amount of spice with savoury seafood soup. Their noodles aren't like other Korean restaurants, as my mom would say it, it has a bouncy texture. The black bean noodle isn't my favourite but it compliments the spicy seafood noodle. There's a sweet aftertaste. My friend ordered the mapo tofu on rice. The plate is as big as two heads! I don't normally eat rice, but the rice here has a nice aroma to it with a chewy texture. Overall, great place to get affordable good Korean food.
A Korean Chinese restaurant with phenomenal dishes that I've never tried! A must go to visit if you're ever wanting something delicious. What we got to share for the table: Crunch rice soup with seafood 5/5 - This was something I've never tried and highly recommend. It comes in a big soup bowl with a thicker gravy consistency topped with a crispy rice, similar to a rice crispy texture. The different textures of this soup was amazing and I can't wait to get this again. Ja Jang Myun 5/5 - A staple that is a must get. It was saucey with the black beans and seafood. Noodles were cooked perfectly with the right amount of bite. Fried chicken with spicy and sour soy sauce 5/5 - The biggest highlight of our meal. It came with a huge pile of fried chicken, topped with a bunch of jalapenos. The sauce was similar to a sweet and sour sauce. This was extremely addicting to eat and was so good to share with the table. This spot was definitely a hidden gem for me as it's so delicious, so low key and great to dine here with friends. read more

We kind of walked in off the street because we drove into the strip mall and parked in front so we decided to try it. This is very authentic Korean place-in fact no one spoke English to us :) The food was delicious and authentic! Too bad were in a rush so did not order a lot of stuff we really wanted to try. No worries since we will be back for sure! read more

Sunny Dragon is a nice transitional restaurant for those who have eaten Chinese food and want a segway into a part of the wide selection of Korean food. Every order comes with a small plate of their bonchon. Very simple, yellow radish, sliced raw onion, Kimchi, and black bean paste. It's recommended to douse the onion with the white vinegar on your table to cut the sharpness of the onion and dip it into the black bean paste before eating. The Ja Jang Myun (black bean noodles) is very rich and savoury, but really hits the spot if you've got a noodle craving. Their standard Ja Jang Myun has ground meat and onions, but they have seafood options as well. Kkampongi is essentially the Korean version of Sweet and Sour Chicken. Depending on the location, this dish can have a slight spicy kick, but I've yet to find that yet... It's sweet and very crispy (different batter than the Chinese counterpart). We had a dish (can't remember the name off the top of my head) which was fried chicken on a bed of cabbage and green chilies on top. The sauce lathered on top was mildly sweet, and tangy. The green chilies really gives it the kick it needs. Very delicious! All in all, really great Korean joint for cheap eats. Leave it to Sunny Dragon to be your gateway into the world of Korean food, or rather a partial bit. read more
Sunny Dragon offers the best Korean-Chinese style dishes in the city. I tried couple other restaurants previously and their location/interior may not be the best but the food is just on point. With generous portion and great prices, don't think I can say more. Definitely recommend "Jjambbong." It's a noodle soup with seafood and veggies. *Spicy but it's worth the sweat!! read more

My family and I have been coming here for years and years and will probably keep going for years and years. Sunny Dragon just knows how to make good ol' comforting Korean-Chinese food. Our most recent visit was on New Year's Day, so you can imagine that the restaurant was just rammed. Regardless of how many black bean noodles they were pumping out, food was just delicious as usual. There were 12 of us, so we opted for one of the set courses (burnt rice soup, countless fried dishes, noodles, and soups) and fed us plenty. Service is your usual Korean standard. Waitresses won't check on how you're doing, if you need more side dishes or if the food is good. You see that little button device on each table? Press it and a server will magically arrive at your table to meet your every demand. The restaurant is unpretentious and cozy. You stay, humbly eat good food with your disposable wooden chopsticks, pay and leave. Simple. The furniture and décor are all hilariously authentic pieces you'd probably find in your Korean Aunt's dining room, and there's always CP24 news or some Korean drama playing on the TVs. Obviously you can come for their black bean noodles, their spicy seafood noodle soup, or their deep fried pork, but they also offer a wide variety of other dishes (such as rice, veggie wraps and other kinds of noodle soups) that I welcome you to try. This place is always a must-visit when my parents are in town and I can always tell why. read more

Sunny Dragon in one word: inconsistent. Don't get me wrong, Sunny Dragon is one of my go-to restaurants and their food is usually great. The food they serve here is even better than the Korean-Chinese food I've had in Korea, at least in my opinion. However, I have to point out that the quality of the food is very inconsistent - somedays the food is amazing, other days it is very disappointing (which was the case for my last visit). My regular order is sweet and sour pork with jjamppong (noodles in spicy broth with veggie and seafood toppings). Usually the food is great - the sweet and sour pork has a lot of meat, and the jjamppong broth is very rich and flavourful. Unfortunately, my last visit didn't live up to expectations. The sweet and sour pork had very little meat in it and several of the pieces consisted only of fried dough. The jjamppong was also disappointing as the broth did not have its usual richness and the noodles felt slightly undercooked. Regardless, I will definitely continue coming here because on the good days, the food is honestly fantastic. It's unfortunate that the food quality/taste is so inconsistent or else I would not hesitate to give Sunny Dragon 5 stars. If you've had a bad first impression, it's definitely worth giving it a second chance! If you're not familiar with Korean-Chinese cuisine, you're in the right place. When you first arrive, you are given a hot pot of tea and their menus. You can ask for water as well, but we like our tea so we usually don't. On one side of the table, you can find the restaurant's combo special sign, offering a huge variety of prix fixe for large parties. At Sunny Dragon, the portions are very big, so even the smallest Combo A would probably be enough for 4 (than their recommended 2-3 people). After you order, you are given a mixed plate of side dishes. In Korean-Chinese cuisine, there are 3 essential side dishes: pickled radish, kimchi, and raw onions with black bean paste. The white vinegar given on the side of the table can be poured over the pickled radish and onions to enhance their flavours. This is totally optional and is personal preference. Sunny Dragon also has a great lunch special menu for a very affordable price. If you're in the area for a great tasting lunch, you can definitely count this place in. As for our menu, we now have a set menu that we order since we've been here many times. We always get the kkan-pun-sae-u (sweet and spicy shrimps) and another main dish (usually noodles) to share. Kkan-pun-sae-u: At Sunny Dragon, the shrimp they use in this dish is huge! That is, they use the king sized shrimps and not the small ones. It is really worth your money. The tempura batter on the shrimps are so crisp and the sauce is drool-worthy. It is not that spicy on our palates, and more on the side of sweet and sour. We love this dish so much that we get it every time we go to Sunny Dragon. There are not only shrimp but a variety of vegetables and pineapple as well! The pineapple really gives the dish its sweet and sour flavour and I manage to find them all and put them in my belly. Fried Jjam-ppon: This was kind of an adventure foodie experience for us because we didn't know what it looked like, or how it would taste. Like, how is a spicy noodle soup dish fried?? But, it truly was a good idea to try this. The taste was almost exactly how the original jjam-ppong would taste, except with less soup! I was in love. You see, I love eating jjam-ppong, but I didn't particularly like the soup part of it. This was the perfect solution dish for me! The dish had a hearty portion of noodles in it, with Chinese bok-choy, seafood (squid and shrimp), and other vegetables. Family Jja-jang: This dish can be ordered for one person, two people, or up to a party of five. The story behind this dish goes a bit like this. Traditionally, the jja-jang-myun is freshly cooked noodles with the black bean sauce poured over it. It is then taken to the customer, who mixes the noodles and sauce together oneself. This dish, the family jja-jang, comes out already mixed by the chef, and also with the addition of seafood and other vegetables not usually seen in the traditional version. As there are other seafood and vegetables in the dish, the noodles and sauce are cooked together by the chef once more. The family part of the dish originates from the fact that this dish can be shared, bringing the family together over their meal. This is also why you can order this dish for up to five people. On our visit, we tried this popular dish and ordered the one portion of it. We asked the waiter who was taking our order beforehand how big the portions are, and he honestly told us that the one portion would be enough for us to share since we were ordering the sweet and spicy shrimp anyways. And he was definitely right! The dish was exactly enough for us to share, and priced below $10, just like the fried jjam-ppong was. All in all, this family restaurant is a hit go-to place especially during the weekend. You will find the place packed with Koreans and other Canadians alike. We highly recommend this restaurant! You could probably call ahead and make a reservation if you want. read more

If you want some Korean styled Chinese food around North York, this is the place to be. Their jja jang myun is the best I've had outside Korea.They don't have the lowest prices in town but you can't cheap out on food like this(not that it's really expensive or anything) They also have specials on main dishes (order 2?3? and get 1 free). I just wish they'd close a bit later though.11pm is too early in my opinion. read more

I went after the peak lunch hour and had a kanjajangmyun. The waitress told me to have a seat and she never came back to bring the menu. As i knew what i wanted i just ordered the meal. Jajangmyun was delicious and the sauce was fresh. however no service at all! I will not go back to this resto but go to another one down the street on Steeles ave for korean-chinese food. read more
