Stop at this place for a late lunch/early dinner on our drive down into the Florida Keys. Because of the time of day, it wasn't busy at all only a few other people inside. Our waitress Rosemary was super sweet and provided several recommendations. They had a happy hour special on sliders and wings so we did a little variety of several flavors to include: sweet bbq brisket slider, sweet sos chicken slider, plain pork slider, Mississippi honey chicken slider, Memphis sweet wings and lastly the Mississippi honey wings. We also ordered fried okra which was great and well seasoned. Our favorite flavor from the sauces used for the wings and sliders was the Mississippi Honey. We ask the server (who was an absolutely friendly and helpful) if it was large enough for us to share and she said more than enough that you'd probably need a to go box (we did ). Ranking of the meats from our fave first. Pulled pork was seasoned, flavorful, and plentiful. Next up is the chicken (we got white meat). Juicy and smoked to perfection. Then we have the ribs (4 pieces). It wasn't fall off the bone but it was the right type of tender. Flavor was good but definitely try their sauces on them! Finally the brisket (4 pieces). This was a bit dryer than the other meats but was still flavorful. I just wish it was a bit more juicier (personal choice). We had the fries and potato salad as our sides and they were okay. A lot you can say but the main thing is theyre too inconsistent to charge the prices they do. I heard they were just putting all their food in coolers instead of properly storing it, for 27$ thats almost disrespectful. Theyre stingy with their sauce but not their salt as they often oversalt everything. The recipe came from the grandma but the children did not pay attention because one day the ribs will fall of the bone and other times it'll be like they didn't smoke it at all but rather baked it in an oven. Not to say they did but I can't explain why sometimes its so good and other times I feel as if I got ripped off. The mac n cheese with pork is tasty but even if I have a just a few bites it'll run thru me and ruin the rest of my night. Theyre so stingy with their damn sauce its almost getting a bit greedy to charge a couple dollars for an additional 2oz knowing they don't give you enough. You really need three because of all the salt but thats just their worldclass rub lol Put the damn sauce on the ribs and it wont taste like im forcing diabetes on myself. Quit coming here bc of the small things like that bc its just too much money to get 1/3 plates to be good. When they do it right it tastes great a solid 8/10, and thats what upsets me the most is how lazy they have to be... theyre good people but nobody is telling them the truth and when I went into the resturant it was so awkward I almost left without even taking my food I had already paid for. Nobody wanted to help me until I asked someone where the pick up was and they weren't busy The bartender looked at me twice and seemed to be acting like he was busy but looked like he wasn't doing anything. Wow. Where do I start? What a disappointment I have been hearing so much about this place, I HAD to try it. HUGE mistake. Pulled pork- Dry and flavorless. Brisket- DRY and tough. Chicken - DRY. Ribs- OK but tasted steamed not smoked, thi I did see a smoke ring. Sides on the sample platter were a joke- mac n cheese with WAY too much pepper, and, you guessed it, DRY!! only about 4 small tablespoons of mac n cheese, so definitely NOT a shareable side. The beans were spicy, and SHOCKER, NOT DRY- they were probably the best part of the meal. I should have known it was a horrible idea when I pulled up to the place and you couldn't smell smoke or BBQ. And when I got my take out order, it was COLD . Oh and they did not even bother putting my rolls in with my smapler order. Super disappointing as locals need something new and different... my high hopes were quickly dashed!! read more
