I went to this location for the first time a couple days ago. I kept hearing people talk about how good the spicy chicken sandwich was. I'm not a big fast food restaurant fan and this place isn't all that close but I happen to be in the neighborhood and decided to give it a try. The first negative was that when I walked up to the door, it was locked. I couldn't eat inside which I usually prefer. I went back out to my car and while I pedaled around on my phone for the next 15 or 20 minutes I must have seen 20 or 30 people do the same thing. I left the first couple know but then I got tired of saying it every 2 minutes. I swear the minute one car would back out another car would pull into a parking spot with the intention of going in. I hate to think how much business they lost. Some people got in the Drive-Thru line which became quite long and some people just drove out the back exit and went somewhere else. Lots of Lost business. I figured out how to sign on to their app. I didn't see any sign that they had an actual rewards program but I was able to order and pay online but it said to pick up at the counter and the doors were locked so I got in the extremely long line and it probably took a good 15 minutes to even get up to the order place. I let the lady know I had an online order. She asked me the name and told me to go ahead and pull up to the front window which was still three cars ahead of me. When I got there she asked me my name and handed me my bag. I was going to circle around to the other side again where there weren't so many cars around but there was no way to do it so I ended up turning right onto Paramount and probably drove a half a mile before I pulled over, remembering everyone to say that you should check your bag. Sure enough, my Shrimp Basket was there which was my reason for going because I had seen it advertised for $5, but my spicy chicken sandwich that I decided to get because I had been wanting to try that out was nowhere to be found. So I drove back over but instead of waiting through the line again I remembered seeing the girls coming outside of an Open door on the opposite side where I had parked the first time so I parked over on that side and walked in that door which was unlocked. I walked up to the counter and let them know that I was missing my spicy chicken sandwich. I had already checked my receipt and knew that I had paid for it. There was no problem. The girls were as nice as could be and immediately put a sandwich in a bag and handed it to me cheerfully and apologetically. By now my food was cooling off and I didn't want to eat it cold so I just sat in my car and ate all of the shrimp and part of the fries. I have to admit it was pretty darn good for $5. The next day I ate the sandwich and I didn't even bother to heat it in the microwave. It was also very good. I have had the chicken sandwich at KFC and thought the Popeyes sandwich was much better, not as overly salted for instance. I think I would get it again if I was over in that area. The shrimp would be worth driving over there for by itself. Also by signing up for the app I had the advantage of a side order for $1 so I got an apple turnover, and I got a free side so I tried the beans and rice. All this food actually made three different meals for me. Everything was pretty good for fast food. I'm only knocking off a star because of the long wait in line because of the inside being closed and because they didn't give me my sandwich so I would have been out close to $5 if I hadn't gone back. I ordered a mobile order and went to the drive through to pick it up, and the manager told me I had to come inside to get it. I told him I have a hurt knee and I need to pick it up at the drive up window and he was incredibly rude, argumentative and flew off the handle about it. He said his "general manager don't do mobile orders at the drive through and he don't either". I told him I wasn't leaving without the meal I already paid for and he came outside to my car and started threatening me. This whole time, there was another employee who already had my order ready and was trying to hand it to me but this manager was blocking the window to prevent me from getting it. And there were no other cars in front or behind me in the drive through. It wasn't until I started recording him on video and saying that I was going to call the police that he finally moved and allowed the employee to hand me what I paid for. I was second in line to place my order about 4:00 pm. After the clerk took the order from the people in front of me, she walked away and did not acknowledge me. I must have waited at least 8 minutes before I asked the clerk if she intended to take my order. After the clerk took my simple two item order, she asked me to take a seat in the restaurant, and she would bring me my order. I must have waited at least 15 minutes without getting my order. The customer who made an order before me, indicated that the employees were very rude and for me to be aware. I asked the clerk about 20 minutes after I placed my order, when my order would be completed since I witnessed at least three cars complete their orders in the drive through. Again she asked me to take a seat in the dirty tabled restaurant to receive my order. I learned that the chicken sandwich was completed but the cooks had ignored the order to cook the shrimp. She informed me that I would need to wait another 10 to 15 minutes. At this point, I was annoyed in the rudeness, laziness and filthiness of the employees and management of this restaurant. I state this because I first hand watched the Manager Kelly take her hair down, comb her hair with her fingers and then braid her hair all while hovering over all the prepared food area. When I brought this to the clerks attention, another clerk, around 50 years old with a gap between her teeth rudely informed me that the manager playing with her hair around the food was completely fine. She also stated that Kelly washed her hands afterwards. I replied that washing her hands afterwards was irrelevant, and the fact that she combed her hair over the prepared food was the issue. Additionally, the long wait to place order and to prepare order was unacceptable for a fast food establishment. The 50 year year old female with the gap in her front tooth, thought I had left and stopped production to inform Kelly, the Manager, about how proud she was to insult me and to respond in a very aggressive and rude manner. I made her aware that I was standing there listening to her rudeness and lack of customer assistance. Kelly informed me as the manager, she was not required to wear headware to prevent her hair from falling in the food. I informed her that the lack of a hat was not the issue. The issue was that she actually combed her hair and braided in the food preparation area and lack of teamwork in placing orders and delivering the orders. Kelly and the employees believe that as long as Kelly washed her hands afterwards, playing with her hair, over the food preparation area was acceptable. Kelly lacked leadership as she allowed her employees to walk all over her. She was timid and depended on her employees to GANG up against the customers. The female clerk, with the gap in her front teeth, encouraged all the employees to argue, conduct rudeness, and poor customer service to all the customer who were present in the lobby waiting to place their orders. This was my first visit to any Popeye restaurant, believe me, due to its ghetto mentality, it will be my last. My next step is to report this location to health department. I intentions were simply to order dinner for my two grandchildren, not to be abused by an organization where I was paying services. This communication DOES NOT account for 100% of the rudeness coming from the employees. Especially how I was treated as a former employee, The manger said cursing things about not giving my pay-check and basically have me to call an attorney and have a civil case of his actions on me. The HR didn't want to give my paycheck either as she hired me and fired me on the phone saying that I didn't scream at the manger and that's not my job and said I was terminated! I'm guessing any positive review for this particular Popeyes here in Amarillo is the result of a fluke (considering the majority of bad reviews) or an employee/relative. I haven't ordered Popeyes in about four years - not because of a previous bad experience, but, the last time I looked for them on GrubHub during the pandemic shelter-in-place, they didn't have the Red Beans and Rice (which is the main favorite in our household). Decided to look today, and they had the beans and rice. Placed order for over $100.00 worth of food (not including tax and service fee, etc.). Order was delivered missing two Flounder sandwiches and one Spicy Chicken sandwich. Once again, I have to ask - what exactly are these people trained to do? My fast food mantra: You have only one objective: get food to a customer - with three elements involved: take the order; prepare the order to the customer's specifications; and get the order to the customer in a timely manner. It sounds simple but must be a LOT harder than I think - considering the number of these type reviews I have to write. And the only thing a restaurant can blame on the pandemic is a lack of certain supplies which have become unavailable. Oh, and that should be a fourth element involved: if your restaurant doesn't have something that's been ordered (regardless if ordered directly through you or if ordered through a third party delivery site), you are OBLIGATED to inform your customer what isn't available - DON'T MAKE SUBSTITUTIONS OR OMISSIONS without approval of the customer. Having worked in food service, I feel I'm qualified to address these issues and hopefully instruct people who own restaurants or work in food service what customers expect (believing these same people would expect no less from their own orders). read more

The chicken was old, you could see from a couple of hours and I would have known that if I would had checked before leaving, but I was just trying to make it home from work also, I ordered the surf and turf which did not come with everything it said. This was the 3rd Popeyes I've tried in Amarillo, TX. They all suck so far! This one on paramount I ordered a 12 piece spicy family meal. They gave me old chicken! Like it's been sitting under the warmer all day. The chicken wasn't spicy, the fries were terrible, the onion rings were halfway decent. I don't understand why Popeyes in Amarillo, TX suck so bad. I eat at Popeyes once every time we go to Amarillo. The restroom at this location was nasty. It smelled so bad I had to put a tissue over my nose. A reader might say, well yea it is a restroom.... but this was due to a filthy toilet. Not only was the bowl terrible , but without touching the seat I could see the dirt and something bright yellow under it. For the good of Popeye's reputation, I called the manager and she said that she would talk to the night manager as they have someone that cleans everyday. We were there at lunchtime. That toilet had not been cleaned in months to have that kind of Filth on it and in it. Pass the buck sister doesn't work in this case. The only reason that I gave it a 2 was that my shrimp was good. The onion rings were stale, rubbery and unedible. I brought them home thinking my husband will probably eat them but they were even no go with him. He is like Mikey. He will eat anything. Haha At the location where we usually eat, the first time that we went there I asked to speak to the manager. I told him my shrimp was great and the onion rings where wonderful. He said that they make them fresh every day which is not the case evidently at this location. I will not return here but hope that my conversation with a manager induces a cleanup. I am a senior but in my early days worked many years and food and beverage. I find that the shape of the restrooms are many times indicative of the cleanliness of the kitchen. I would never even work in a place that have that issue. I am the first person to call managers with a compliment. I have to say, this is absolutely the worst Popeye's I have ever been to. If I could give less than 1 star I would. First, the service is snail slow. I went through the drive through and gave them my order. When l pulled up to the window, they were out of sweet tea so I asked for the drink to be downgraded from large to small (three times because the server kept ignoring my request) and I didn't want to pay the price difference. I still ended up with a large soda and paid for it too. Then they had me pull over to the side to wait for my food. I have worked in fast food and I know it's a hit if customers are at the window too long, but that doesn't give them a freebie to have me sitting there waiting for 18 minutes, which I did. And then they had me move 3 times because I was in the way of other customers. Finally once I got my food and I got home, I realized my order was completely messed up. I ordered a chicken po boy and the sandwich had no mayonnaise on it and no lettuce. The mayo was on the side, which I did not ask for. I ordered 2 mild chicken legs by themself and ended up with 2 spicy chicken legs with biscuits. I attempted to contact Popeye's via the website but they directed me to the manager who was in there working alongside the team members and who, I have no doubt, was contributing to the horrible service I received. Upon paying, I received a message from doordash almost immediately that my order was on its way. Instead of a 12pc family meal, I received a chicken sandwich combo and a coke. My kids were not happy and expected dinner they did not get. Called doordash, they said it was Popeyes fault. Called Popeyes, like 12 times and finally had to leave a message for call back. We ordered online and paid for it thinking it would be faster, and we could pick up at counter, We were told to go to drive through, the drive through was packed, when we finally approached the speaker we were told to park and wait along with several other cars who were already waiting.
