This is for the Rt 40 Patrick St location. Check your order, because there is a good chance it will be incorrect. They once gave my on line order (it was about a $50 order) to someone else, in the drive thru. A second time they said they did not have my order, I had to come home print it, and take it back, then they made the order. Last night, I pulled up at the drive thru to pick-up an on line order, told them my name, and they had no idea what I said. Spelled my name for them, blank stare. Despite the fact that it was 40 minutes before closing, the chicken strips were made fresh & hot, and the Cole slaw, beans & rice, and biscuits were all fresh. The team working were busy and maybe they could have used an extra person at the register, but we didn't mind waiting. So: it's ironic that my first review since becoming a Yelp Elite (yay!) is of a fast- food chain restaurant rather than a Gucci, white-tablecloth Establishment. The thing is: I love, love, LOVE me some Popeye's chicken. Always have, always will. My go-to is Spicy thighs with a side of Red Beans and Rice. Well seasoned, with enough heat to let you know it's there, but no so much to make you bundle away the grandkids and oldsters. The Red Beans are not what I'd get in New Orleans, but they're tasty in any event. The biscuit this time around was a bit dry, like it'd been under the warmer for too long, but yes, I ate it. It turns out that my love of Popeyes is genetic. Found out while driving back from the beach that Favorite Oldest Granddaughter is also a huge fan, so we now have a place where we can bond and share (and eat). **Unprofessional Service & Poor Customer Experience** My recent visit to the Popeyes on West Patrick was extremely disappointing due to the unprofessionalism of the staff. My daughter went in to pick up our order and was met with rude and dismissive behavior from an employee. Instead of providing proper customer service, he was unnecessarily disrespectful when she simply asked for our food. When I went inside to address the issue and show confirmation of our order, I was met with what felt like suspicion, as if we were attempting to steal the food. Rather than handling the situation professionally, the employee's attitude only made the experience more frustrating. The employee in question may have been a manager, as he was wearing a gray shirt, but regardless of his position, his behavior was completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, while speaking with the staff, they conversed in another language in front of us. Regardless of their intent, this is unprofessional in a customer service setting, especially since they have no way of knowing who understands what language. It gives the impression that they are speaking about customers, which is both rude and unwelcoming. After leaving and returning to ask for the district manager's contact information, I was given conflicting information. The person I spoke with first claimed to be a manager, then later said they were the district manager. This inconsistency made it difficult to determine who I actually needed to speak to for further assistance. This kind of service is unacceptable. Popeyes should ensure that their employees--especially those in leadership positions--are properly trained in professionalism, respect, and customer service. I will be reconsidering whether I return to this location in the future. read more

There is only one fried chicken chain I like better than Popeye's, and it's located exclusively in North Carolina. Away from NC, Popeye's is my go to for spicy fried chicken. Rating this restaurant isn't easy even though I've been here at least six times over the past three months. When the chicken is fresh, it's really, really good! The issue? On my third visit, I ordered the 5-piece spicy for $6.99 (advertised special), and I could see that it was on the dry side. When the woman at the counter started placing my side items into the bag, a young man gathered up all the remaining spicy chicken on the rack and threw it into the trash. Yep, you heard correctly. I asked the person who appeared to be a manager or assistant manager why the chicken was thrown into the trash. He said, "It's no good anymore." OK.... They just sold me 5 pieces of that "no good anymore chicken", charged me over $16 for it, the cajun rice and cole slaw, and were happy to permit me to leave with something they would have thrown into the trash. Not cool. I asked them to replace the "no good anymore" chicken I just bought with fresh, "unspicy" chicken that was plump and juicy. They did so willingly. What did they do with the chicken they took out of the bag with my other items you ask? They threw it into the trash. I had this issue once - thereafter I never purchased chicken that appeared dry. Don't order chicken tenders. They were overcooked and too hard, barely any chicken in them. I ordered through Grub Hub so you are stuck with what you get, they will not return orders. On last three orders delivered: twice no biscuit. I called the store, mgr who could not speak English fluently said stop by the store and he will give me a biscuit. I am 81 and order delivery so I don't have to drive. The other day, same order , no honey mustard so I threw the tenders in the trash. If you call corporate to complain, they do not answer, you have to chat through texting which was long and tedious. However he cut me off & talked over me at the drive through window and ignored my specific request (no drink, no biscuit, add gravy on the side) and his reaction and interaction with me was so unnecessarily rude. Service is always professional and courteous and it conveys a sense that they appreciate your business and work hard to keep you coming back. Chicken is crispy and delicious, mashed potatoes out of the world and the tea is always fresh. 5 outta 5 Update: With Pedro gone, quality is slipping and sometimes does not meet expectations. The incompetence and horrendous customer service of this company extends from the local store level up through their customer service department to maybe even the district management level. After almost a month of trying to get an answer back from Popeyes about the poor customer service I received, I give up and will now post my negative review. On November 3rd of this year, I placed my order at the Popeye's Drive-Thru on 1403 West Patrick Street in Frederick, MD. At 8:44 PM, I ordered some Boneless Wings. The female cashier instructed me to pull forward to wait. She did not specify for how long and there were no other cars in front of me. While waiting, I noticed only four other guests inside being served. After roughly nine minutes, a male cashier came out and told me that it would take two minutes due to the wings. At nine o'clock, I was given my order with neither an explanation or an apology for my wait. In the time I waited, I only saw one other vehicle pass through the Drive-Thru. Looking back, I should've immediately taken this issue up with the store manager on duty. Instead, I made use of Popeye's online customer complaint and comment service on their website. I specifically requested that someone contact me back. A week later, after not receiving a reply, I sent another email using Popeye's website expressing my displeasure at not responding to my complaint. I had already decided I probably wasn't going to go to a Popeye's again. On November 16, I decided to call the phone line and see if my website complaint had been received. I was told by the customer service operator that, yes, my complaint had been recorded by their online system and that she couldn't understand why no one had gotten back to me. She apologized and said that she would kick this up a level and let the district manager know about my complaint. She told me that I should expect to hear something back in 72 hours. Of course, I heard nothing back. On November 23, I called again and the woman I talked to this time said that nothing could really be done except tell me that my complaint had been registered with them and that they hoped someone would respond to me. That hasn't happened so I am forced to conclude that Popeye's either doesn't care when their customers complain about poor service even when they rise above the local level or their system of dealing with customer complaints is full of incompetent individuals. All I know is that I will never give them any of my business again and encourage anyone I know to do the same. read more

The Chicken Tenders were all kinds of sizes and shapes, some very small, some very large, how can anybody tell how many tenders they supposedly got? If you actually counted all of them separately it might be double the number you're supposed to be getting. Maybe their approach is, they're going by the volume properly cut tenders would occupy? Or giving you so much they hope you don't complain? Only thing in common in this selection of tenders seems it be, chicken fillets cut in quarter inch slices. Lots of the cuts were in the shape of a chicken filet, too wide and thin for a proper tender. And the sizes varied like you would expect for not very thickly sliced chicken breast, down to the size of a half dollar (the coin). I suspect they are using the same chicken slices in their chicken sandwiches, which also haven't seemed much like a proper fillets and instead seem to be two or more of these slices stacked on top of each other. read more
