Worst Popeyes ever! I ordered for pick up on uber eats. I had my husband pick it up cause I'm sick. Well, they got the order wrong. I ordered 2 orders of boneless (12 pieces) and 2 orders classic wings (12 pieces) 24 pieces in total. When he got home, I opened it & it was only 6 and 6....all boneless. Immediately pissed me off on top of me being sick. I drove over there myself to have them fix it. They tried to tell me they put the 12 pieces in one container. I had to open the containers and count with them so they can see they were wrong. They made a new order for me. After repeating so many times that the bone in classic wings is sweet & spicy, they still made it boneless. They made the honey bbq bone in instead of boneless for the kids. The packaging of our food was terrible, when we grabbed the bag and checked if everything was in there, the boxes were open the and the food all over the bag. I would like to start off by saying this is one of the worst Popeyes I ever went to. The was at the counter around 2:15 PM I seen one of the mangers take an order and then grab food with his bare hands with no gloves. He never proceeded to wash his hands,or nothing. when he came to me to take my order. This is the worst fast food restaurant ever. The management lacks respect for their clientele and their "policies" are inhumane and unacceptable. I waited 15 minutes for an order and they refused to allow me to use their restroom. Apparently this is their policy. Perhaps some sensitivity training is in order. Ok, so it's Popeyes and fast food. I typically don't really eat fast food because I'm a New Yorker and there are so many better ways to add fat to my hips and thighs then on fast food, but I had to try the chicken sandwich that basically broke Twitter. So, it's really good. Like really, really good. However, there is not a single other item that they serve that is enjoyable so I can't give more than 3 stars. And yet, the chicken sandwich really is worth the hype that everyone has been boasting on the commercials, social media, and even word of mouth. This location is super busy and the chicken is good. No complaints there. However the last 3 occasions I have been here the woman manager or team leader is horrible. She loudly yells at the employees in a condescending howl and it is truly embarrassing. If you must have a meeting take them in small groups in the back., state your point and get back on the floor. To watch the staffs demeanor change from pleasant to wanting to cry of embarrassment was disheartening. I am a manager for many years and never would I do such a thing. I cannot comment on other Popeye locations , but I find the Fulton Street Hempstead location to be consistently disappointing. Too often their chicken is not cooked all the way through! It's crunchy on the outside then very wet underneath as thought it is rushed! Yesterday I tried their new pepper wings and they were cooked HORRIBLLY! I ended up throwing it away! Again the wings were not done, they were soggy inside, and the meat was not fresh, but dark and old. I am done with them! I waste too much money there! read more

It's Hempstead, what do you expect? I get so tired of hearing that. Many places in Hempstead are as good or better than others. This location in my experience is one of the better Popeye's. The people are friendly and efficient and they keep the place clean. Only knock on the place I can come up with is that the drive thru is a little tight if you're driving a long vehicle, so just be careful when pulling through. read more

The food here is on par with what you expect. This location is clean, there's almost never a long wait, and the manager is very nice. She will do her best to get you as much food as possible. Their hours are a little deceptive. They are "open" for their hours. They close the doors at midnight and only the drive through is open at this point. Went to this location for the first time ever today (Labor Day at around 3pm) and I had probably the worst experience I've ever had, not just for Popeyes but for fast-food in general. I ordered through the app and went to pick up my order from drive-thru. Parked nearby to check my order and I noticed fries were missing as well as my coleslaw side. I go through all the red lights and left turn into the parking lot to go through the drive-thru again for a mistake Y'ALL made. Worker through the drive-thru tried to make me come inside (beyond ridiculous considering you guys screwed up & now I have to go out and come back in due to the drive-thru lane set up?) until I insisted I ordered a drive-thru order and would be picking up at the window. I finally go pick it up and no "I'm sorry", no "thank you," or any form of acknowledgement that they messed up. On top of that, the woman handing me my order snickered along with her co-workers.. may I ask what was so damn funny...? And of course my clown self said "thank you" to them respectfully when they know damn well they didn't even deserve it. To further add to the experience, I saw the same begging man twice at the end of the drive-thru, strategically standing there to ask for money. Got home to cold fries, tiny ass popcorn shrimp, and the absolute final cherry on top? A classic chicken sandwich when I specifically ordered a spicy one.. how the hell do you guys mess up an online order? Are y'all just illiterate? Needless to say, I will never be coming back. If I want Popeyes, I'll go to the Westbury location (their staff tend to be rude & give off a nasty attitude but I've never gotten missing items, incorrect orders, etc. They at least somewhat make up for their attitude by consistently delivering well in other aspects) and if for some reason that disappears in the future, Chick-fil-A & KFC will have to do compared to this atrocious experience. I have been to this Popeye's a few times. It is always busy. It is located next to Hofstra University. They always have sales going on. Today I got the 5 for $5.99 promo, 5 pieces of chicken for $5.99. The drive thru was very busy and it took almost 10 minutes just to order. Staff was friendly and professional. Food was good. This is an alternative to McDonald's, Burger King, etc. I especially like to get the spicy fried chicken. Much better than KFC. Great fried chicken but marred by the crap service. One of the only Popeye's out on Long Island (that I know of) I happily drive here to get some of their chicken and biscuits. I'll admit something to you all now that I would never admit to say, a new beau. It's something that I feel I need a certain level of intimacy before I disclose: Sometimes I rent a car and drive to the Popeyes in Hempstead. (I cover my eyes in shame.) I know there are locations tucked within the five boroughs, but they just don't do it for me for two reasons: 1. They don't have a drive-through at any of the city locales and whizzing through in a car listening to bad mixed cds that I made when I actually lived at Hofstra University across from said Popeyes is more than half the charm. 2. I don't know why but their chicken is actually good to me. It's spicier, tastes fresher and crispier. I've listed Popeyes as a guilty pleasure in various talk threads, but really what I mean is that specifically Popeyes in Hempstead is my guilty pleasure. I never really got the big deal about Popeye's. It always only seemed like overpriced fried chicken to me. This location is next to Hofstra University so they probably get a lot of business from college students who are too lazy to walk to Wings-N-Things, which is a few blocks further and also sells fried chicken but at a lower cost. It's worth it to walk out there, you'll pay less and get more exercise walking there and back, which is nice since you'll be eating fatty, highly caloric food. If you're going to go to Popeye's now I recommend the 3 for $3.99 deal they're having. You get 3 chicken tenders, french fries, a biscuit and your choice of one of the six sauces they have. Just be sure to ask for the sauce or they might forget to offer it to you. read more

Chicken sandwich is back, let's discuss: Honestly it was incredible, I was extremely impressed. I got it delivered expecting the bun to be slightly to medium soggy but I was pleasantly surprised to find the bun fully intact with adequate volume and density. The bun reminded me of the coveted Hawaiian potato roll, sweet and buttery. The chicken was juicy and cooked well. The fried crust was not what you'd typically expect from fast food. The crust was dynamic and really added a sense of quality to the sandwich. The sliced pickle chips were crisp and had the crunch I was looking for in a chicken sandwich. There was a sauce, I'm not certain what it was but it really tied the sandwich together. The sauce wasn't over powering and added depth to the sandwich, it was complimentary not an over bearing flavor component. Overall, for 6.99$ I was wildly impressed, could of fooled me, could of came from a trendy sit down restaurant. For 6.99$ it gets a solid A. read more

Popeye's is a hit or miss over here. There isn't much consistency and that annoys me. One day my chicken will taste like it was fried in golden oil and the next day it will taste like it was forgotten about in the freezer for years. The biscuits will be melting in my mouth one day all warm and buttery and the next day I can use it as a weapon or even crack a tooth. I love when Popeye's will have a special promotion going and they're usually set at a combo price of about $5 and that's when I feel like I'm getting a deal. I love their seasoned fries and the bbq sauce is life. About sauces though..... omg.... the employees ration the sauces as if extra sauces are deducted from their paychecks. I literally will be at a standstill in the drive thru arguing about getting more than one sauce for my 5 chicken strips. Same thing with the ketchups or the jelly. If that isn't a pet peeve of mine then idk what is. The drive thru here is really painfully slow.. what ever happened to their catch phrase "Louisiana. FAST" .. umm NO.. if it wasn't a "fast food" restaurant I would assume they make every order upon ordering. And make sure to always thoroughly check your bag -- I lost count for the amount of times I was missing something and either had to drive back if in close range or just say F it. read more
