Well, well, well... can it be? An affordable diner with throwback decor that serves a good cup of coffee? I have found nirvana!! Wanted some breakfast and hot java on a cold morning like today. Opened up the YELP app, typed breakfast and clicked search. Decided on this place and again, this community has picked a winner! Friendly waitress, who said yes...when I asked if the coffee was good? Being a certified coffee snob, I gave her the side eye and told her how I take it. Minutes later she appeared with a piping hot take out cup. My nose and taste buds were very happy as I savored every sip! I ordered a simple comfort food breakfast. Eggs over easy, grits and whole wheat toast. I had a side order of lettuce and tomatoes because, well I love lettuce and tomato! My food was fresh and hot! I enjoyed my meal while listening to lite songs from the radio. Hearing the staff greet regulars and new comers like me, with a smile made me feel all fuzzy inside. I plan to return to try the pancakes, waffles and other breakfast dishes. The food was actually very good. One huge waffle that's soft and fluffy. 5 pieces of churches that were crispy and juicy. Served with a side of honey mustard and syrup depending your preference. Great little deli, a few seats, reasonable prices. Nothing fancy - exactly as it should be. Easy walk to the courthouse.

This is a solid breakfast place. The food is a little slow to come out but nothing too outrageous. I got an egg sandwich which was very good and they succeeded making an over easy egg perfectly! Came here for a quick breakfast with my friend and I was glad we came. She just moved into the Hempstead area and wanted something close. This was such a good choice. They had a big parking lot in the rear and there was a back entrance. The service, food and prices were great. The place is a no frills old fashioned diner right on Fulton in Hempstead. Staff is bilingual and the place was very clean. I enjoyed my breakfast combo with pancakes, eggs, ham and home fries. My friend got the steak omelette and it was delicious. Atmosphere: warm, bright, friendly. Comfy booths, plenty of seating. Wall to wall mirrors! Very clean and neat. Classic little neighborhood diner. It was busy around 10:30 Sunday morning. Seemed like lots of returning regulars, always a good sign. Staff: welcoming, cheerful, polite, prompt, attentive. Menus and coffee arrived immediately, and an order-taker came back after sufficient time to peruse the selections. A two-man crew delivered the food and we were later checked on. Food: coffee was fresh and hot, with a cool little pitcher of cream and free refill. Real butter is served. Eggs over easy were perfect, breakfast meats tasty and not over salty, home fries were insane; light brown crispy with soft peppers and onions cooked in nice fresh oil, you could tell. The sure test of excellent home fries is, I had no desire to add ketchup. I agree the grits needed salt, but the texture was really good, and my husband just stirs his egg yolk right into the grits and he's a happy camper. Pancakes were golden brown heaven, moist and fluffy, and here again you didn't need or want to drown them in syrup. Prices: very wallet-friendly. Parking: side streets or rear lot from which you can enter. Bathroom: teeny, unisex, clean, mirrored walls. The food took a bit longer than average to arrive, but definitely worth the wait and does not affect the rating. Loved it and hope to return. read more

A lot of previous reviews mention the smiling friendly waitress.. we didn't get her. We did however have the extremely slow service. Menu is short, food was mediocre. I was only given a fork, and nothing to spread butter onto my french toast with. Bacon was not very baconish.. not sure how that was possible. It took forever to be greeted, food came out within a reasonable amount of time.. but seemed like we got forgotten about when it came time for the check. They seemed overwhelmed by the phone ringing for togo orders. After dropping the check, the waitress said she would "be right back".. but the credit card sat on the table for about 10 minutes, until we finally just left cash and left. read more

The joy of finding an affordable, tasty, and not so commercial place to have breakfast so close to home! We entered through the back way which a short maze but better than walking all the way to the front from the parking lot. My best friend told me about this place and I've been twice so far. The service was delightful. The employees were attentive and very kind. Their breakfast is soo good! I've been having the eggs, corned-beef hash, grits, and toast special.
