We had a great drive thru experience here last Sunday. We were on our way to a movie but wanted some chicken tenders before we filled up on popcorn. We were the only ones in line and we got helped right away. We were told 3 additional minutes for chicken and I was OK with that. After paying, our food was promptly brought out to us after we were parked. Probably wasn't even a 5min wait. The food was hot and fresh! All our sauces were in the bag. And the staff were just the right amount of friendly. $5.99 for 3 large tenders is a great deal. The young boys loved the tenders and the spicy chicken sandwich was delicious. It definitely rivals Chic Fil A chicken. Both are excellent chicken sandwiches in my opinion. I can't decide a winner. We will be back! read more

I rarely leave reviews, but what I witnessed here was so unprofessional and toxic that it would be irresponsible not to document it. The on-duty manager (a Caucasian heavy set woman with a pony tail on top of her head) created one of the most hostile, disrespectful environments I've ever seen in a customer-facing business. She was openly rude and dismissive to Uber Eats and DoorDash drivers, speaking to them as if they were beneath her and an inconvenience rather than partners helping the store function. The tone was condescending, sharp, and unnecessary. Worse, she treated her own employees even more poorly--talking down to them, belittling them, and addressing them with visible irritation and contempt in front of customers. That is not leadership. That is abuse of position. A manager sets the emotional temperature of the entire store, and this one set it to toxic. When a store is behind, a leader steps up, communicates clearly, supports their team, and de-escalates stress. This manager did the opposite. She projected blame, hostility, and ego. Being overwhelmed is not an excuse for being cruel. Being in charge is not a license to degrade people. I attempted to be polite and even wished her a better day, and the hostility remained. That tells you everything: this wasn't a bad moment--it's a bad management style. No customer should have to watch employees be spoken to like that. No delivery driver should be treated like they're subhuman. And no company that values its brand should tolerate a manager who lacks basic communication skills, emotional control, and respect for others. Someone above her needs to intervene immediately. I have patronized this location several times and wanted to see if things had changed. I came here this last week on a Monday evening right before the dinner rush. I dined in and stayed for about an hour to watch the reactions from other patrons and just get a general sense of things. What was really troubling was listening to an employee arguing with a delivery driver very loudly and in a confrontational manner. The food is generally good, but the service is consistently poor. I was nervous to try this location after seeing past reviews, but I'm glad I did. I ordered a large family meal and my son also ordered a large meal for him and his friends. Both orders were ready on time and both were completely accurate. They also gave us a ton of condiments which we appreciated. Food tasted great and was hot and fresh. I love Popeye's chicken, it's always crispy and flavorful. Their spicy chicken isn't so spicy for me, but there's still a kick. I always order their mashed potatoes as my side. I like it that they also give out free a biscuit on the side. I also enjoyed their strawberry lemonade for drinks. I would also recommend trying their chicken sandwich. I always order it spicy and it's so good, it's as crispy and flavorsome as their chicken. I would also recommend signing up on their app/website if you are a frequent customer. After 30 minutes I asked the status and the manager said "oh we never got your order". So I showed her I ordered and paid online and she wrote my order down by hand on an old receipt. After another 30 minutes I found out she never gave it to the cooks. So one of the very nice employees dropped everything she was doing and put it together for me (manager who wrote down the order did NOTHING). Waited 60 minutes total with my spouse and 3 year old in the car. Meanwhile, inside a kind girl was asking them for help with a DoorDash order since the staff forgot to give them their drinks. The "manager" did NOT listen to her at all and just kept yelling at the DoorDash driver that the drinks were $6, and when someone else tried to kindly step in and help explain the drinks were already paid for, she just YELLED at them "I WASNT TALKNG TO YOU" and stuck her hand up in their face. Absolute disgusting behavior from the "manager" and when walk-in people asked her if they could place an order she just said "when we catch up I can take your order". She flat-out stopped talking to the people waiting in line until they all left. I was going to give up and leave but they couldn't give me a refund for the meal I paid for since I ordered online. So I was stuck there for an hour waiting for Fast Food. One employee (not the manager) was very kind and checked in with me while I stood there. I'm very happy the past two orders have arrived exactly as expected, the number of tenders, the sides and always mild as chosen. The food isn't what it was 20 years ago, but that's pretty typical with most fast food chains. This location, though, is horribly understaffed, and either the owners or Popeye's need to figure out a way to support having enough people to come in. When I've gone in there, the staff has always been very polite and nice, but this time I completely missed the meal because I had done a pick up order, they were short staffed, and pointed me to the drive-through while refusing to open the locked door. The drive-through was wrapped around the parking lot, and not visibly moving, so that wasn't an option, and I had to cancel the order. I've enjoyed Popeyes since my college years, but I will be unlikely to return to the Renton location, unless they're able to figure out how to run a viable business in this admittedly, challenging economy. read more
