My first time visiting a Sonic and unfortunately I don't think I'd return. I made an order via the app since you get 50% off slushies all day via the app. Unfortunately, upon arriving, we found out the park-in order systems were all broken. There were no signs and it took us 10 minutes of waiting for them to tell us it was broken. Then we pulled up to the drive-thru to learn that they haven't even started making our online order, which, at that point, had already been made for 20-25 minutes. We kept waiting for our food and it finally came. Nothing spectacular about it. The wait was pretty bad though.

I love this Sonic location! I don't know why it has 1 star but it wont stop me from eating here! we gave the employee a little tip and it came out super quick! and, as usual, we get EXACLTY what I ordered. come here!

They served this in a kid's meal.

I can't believe I keep going back to this place and expecting any different, but THIS takes the cake. I'm not even going to write anything about all the other things that went wrong on this trip, just look at the picture. That is ALL I need to say about this location. Eating here is a real crapshoot, but trust me it's just like Vegas. The chances you'll win are slim.

We arrived at 11pm and after waiting a short while in a stall, the lady said they were closed.. Yelp says the hours were updated a month ago and they close at midnight. This was the closest Sonic on our way to Port Orchard from SeaTac Airport. But it was definitely out of our way only then to find out that they were closed. Not a 15minute drive off the freeway.. 2 SUV's loaded with hungry people ready to order.. ended up giving our business to another food joint.

It's a sonic. You go here for the slushees and milkshakes. Eat in your car like burger master but cheaper. You're in Kent, so hopefully you don't get shot. The person who ordered our food sounded like she hated her life. Don't blame her, you're in Kent at almost 10pm. But hey, you don't what you got to do to get your late night sweet fix.

This is supposed to be a grilled cheese. It is absolutely not grilled!! #solfbread

They are booths along the wall and some tables as well. You have a cooler of drinks and fountain drinks, and milkshakes as well. I had the ohayou gozaimasu burger - which comes with a beef katsu patty (ground beef, breaded and fried - you can swap it out for chicken or pork as well or tofu if you prefer), topped with a perfectly fried egg, crispy bacon, melty cheddar, creamy Japanese, mayo, finely shredded crunchy cabbage and zingy Katsu sauce This is a really unique burger. I've been wanting to come here for a while and I'm happy. I finally had a chance. I'm looking forward to coming back and try one of their burgers with chicken Katsu and also pork Katsu in the near future, but I had to go with the original beef patty on the first visit. Service was great. I was greeted quickly and provided with some suggestions after I mentioned it was my first visit here. Their menu is unique so that type of help is appreciated. I made mine a meal and got it with fries and you can choose from four different types of seasoning for your fries or get them plain. I got mine with the furikake seasoning which was nice and added that umami flavor profile perfectly. You also get to choose dipping sauce and I went with more Katsu sauce, but they have five or six others that looked good. I chose a lychee oolong tea in a bottle from the cooler as my meal drink, but you could also get a fountain drink or upgrade to a milkshake if you prefer All in all, this is a really really cool creative twist on classic burger spot. They also serve some bento boxes and Katsu style hotdog at this Kent location here. The bathroom was really clean as was the lobby and the open kitchen. All in all, I'll give them a 10 out of 10 and I will be back

This classic, no-frills spot carries a nostalgic charm, with a casual, welcoming atmosphere that makes it feel like a staple of the community. It's the kind of place where the focus isn't on trends or presentation, but on delivering satisfying, flavorful food that keeps people coming back. The Hamburger perfectly captures that philosophy. It's simple--nothing overly dressed up or complicated--but that's exactly what makes it shine. The patty is cooked well, with a satisfying sear that brings out the natural flavor of the beef, while the bun and toppings complement rather than overwhelm. Every bite feels balanced, familiar, and genuinely delicious, like a reminder of how good a straightforward burger can be when it's done right. The California Burger steps things up with a more layered flavor profile. The meat is cooked just right--juicy, tender, and full of flavor--and paired with fresh toppings that add both texture and brightness. There's a satisfying richness to it, but it never feels too heavy. Each component works together seamlessly, creating a burger that feels indulgent without losing that classic drive-in appeal. Another standout is the Onion Burger, which might be the most memorable of the bunch. The patty is cooked to a juicy perfection, locking in flavor with every bite. What truly elevates it, though, are the caramelized onions. They're soft, slightly sweet, and deeply savory, blending into the burger in a way that feels effortless. The combination of the rich beef and the perfectly cooked onions creates a harmony that's hard to beat. Not everything hits the same high note, however. The Calamari Rings were a bit of a letdown. There was a slightly off-putting seafood smell that took away from the experience, and the breading felt excessive--so much so that it would fall off easily. On top of that, they leaned a bit too greasy, making them heavier than expected and lacking the crisp, clean bite that good calamari should have. Despite that one misstep, The Family Drive-In excels where it matters most. It delivers consistently great burgers that highlight quality, simplicity, and flavor. For anyone craving a classic drive-in experience with satisfying, well-executed burgers, this spot is an easy recommendation and well worth the visit.

I've been in a few times and am impressed by the quality of the food. My hats off to the chef! Here's the breakdown of the meal: The Food Chicken Fried Steak: This wasn't one of those cheap frozen patties that's all breading. It was nice and thick with just the right amount of crunch. Sausage Gravy: The gravy can make or break this dish, and they nailed it. It was thick, savory, and had tons of flavor. Stuffed Hash Browns: I upgraded my regular hash browns to the stuffed version with bacon, and it was the best decision of the day. They were perfectly fried and crispy--exactly how hash browns should be. Over Easy Eggs: It's surprisingly hard to find a place that doesn't overcook these lately, but mine came out exactly as ordered. Pancakes: I swapped my toast for pancakes, and they were fluffy and light. They serve them with soft whipped butter and syrup, which makes a huge difference. The Service The real star of the morning was Debbie. She's essentially a one-woman show--running the bar, waiting tables, and serving everyone. She is absolutely awesome and keeps the place moving smoothly. It's rare to see that kind of hustle these days. The Verdict Don't let the "bar" label or the exterior scare you off. It's a friendly, welcoming spot with better food than most dedicated breakfast joints in the area. Give this place a chance--you won't regret it.

So for what feels like a decade, I have passed this place coming out of the local AMC, as there is no other attraction in Kent I would stop for. Based on reviews, I decided to give the place a try, but again, I think this place has been here since at least 2015 and with under 40 reviews, it's clear they are not changing lives. In reading reviews. More than one person said the prices were high for a truck, but I did not expect burgers approaching $20. The burgers were grossly overpriced. Someone said they had twice the meet of most places, I doubt that, I'd be shocked if it was more than ¼ patty, the burgers were big, but also incredibly thin. I would have much rather had a burger twice as thick on half as much bun. I actually ended up tossing the lower bun and folding the burger back on itself. That was issue 1. Issue 2 was after a decent wait for free food, my fries were under-cooked, and I didn't get any fry sauce. There were bottles on the tables, but it was 50 degrees, so we weren't eating outside. I assumed there was a small cup in he container, but only ketchup. I had the guacamole burger and instead of thick, chunky, rich guacamole, I guess a tangy avocado sauce. It also had a strip, maybe two of bacon that was so thin, it added no flavor. I've had much better for a lot less and despite the women being as pleasant that can be, this was not worth the money and proved to be a massive waste of time as well, because we certainly passed at least 6 places that make a better burger for less. I can't recommend and won't be back. The food could have been 30% less and I still would have been let down. Unless this was a bad day, this was the worth burger meal I've had in my life. 100% overrated.

The disappointing bit was that the guacamole is the powder mix kind. His torta was tasty but he wasn't completely sold, although he said he might return for lunch one day. Over all a good find in a somewhat complicated intersection.
