I really like Popeyes fried chicken food. However every time I go to through the drive thru they will say hey the chicken will be another 3 minutes before it is ready. Can you please pull to the front and park in the parking lot. As soon as I pull out of the drive thru I set my stop watch on my phone. Today it was 11.5 minutes before my order was delivered. Now I am not the kind of person, that just leaves bad reviews all Willy nilly, I believe in being fair and impartial when I go places. I even try to excuse some bad experiences by saying we all have off days... With that being said, I have been to Popeyes several times and to many different locations this one by far is the worst. The first thing I noticed was that the menu had been covered by paper menus on the outdoor drive-through window. I had never seen anything like that before and when I questioned them they said they were having problems with their menus and so they had to write them out. That left me scratching my head because they have full menu board that was literally covered and taped up by printed out paper with different prices. They can say what they want, but it looked to me like they were trying to get more money out of people by covering up the original prices and typing up what you want people to pay. I ordered a two piece meal, which I had done many times before and what I got shocking to say the least I don't know what chickens these thighs came from, i'm wondering if a baby chick got caught up in the bunch or a rat got caught in the batch cause my thighs were so tiny, a little kid would still be hungry after eating it. And if that wasn't bad enough the young teenager working the window was too busy flirting with the females to pay attention to what he was doing. I don't know whether it's the sign of the times, a generational gap, or just the same old same old when it comes to this particular location... I just know that my opinion of Popeyes has really dropped and I guess the best place to get the best southern chicken is in my own home! read more

Only giving 2 stars because I do like the chicken, but the most unfriendly customer/staff/management relations, here in Lawrence KS. Plus prices have really gone up! It was no surprise to hear on the news that a manager at the St Charles, MO store attacked a customer. Also, I never know what is going to happen when I go there. One time we were not allowed to order from the drive up menu. We had to phone our order in of they wouldn't take it. Another time they didn't have the chicken I wanted. Pulled up to place an order. Sounded like the employees were having a party. Couldn't get anyone on the drive through speaker. Had to drive to the drive through window. The employee who helped me couldn't speak English. Then when I asked for someone else he started mean mugging me. A young lady tried to take my order,she could barely speak English. I had a coupon for Two can dine for $9.99. I asked for tenders and mash potatoes and gravy for small side. The sides were only halfway full. Got home and besides the sides only half way full,only one tender actually looked like a tender. The other tenders were very small and looked like scraps of very small pieces of chicken,those four pieces of chicken might of made two small tenders. I took my order back and was very nice, I have this recorded. The one employee was mean mugging me again. I was starting to get pissed,but I kept my composure. I finally got my money back. What an experience this was. Probably won't go back until this restaurant can hire English speaking workers. I was getting ready to leave and another lady came in from the drive through,she was super upset,she had waited 20 minutes for her food and had to come inside and get her food. Louisiana is my home. It's not just where I am from but it's who I am. It's my identity, my roots and my food. My experience at this Popeye's location is not anything near what I am familiar with from Louisiana. It was one of those rainy, dreary days that make you crave something in the comfort food category. I had Popeyes biscuits on my mind. They are the best. Thick, greasy and yummy. Somehow I talked myself into the shrimp and tender combo. What a mistake. The shrimp was horrid. It was tough and tasteless except for grease. I realize that it's fast food and it is what it is, right? This, however, was just awful. It really wasn't shrimp. It was a thawed little ball of fried. Stale and tough. The tenders were no better. Tough, stringy and hard to chew. Both were completely unappetizing. It was one of those meals that make you kick yourself afterwards. You keep wondering "What was I thinking?" or "Cannot believe I spent over $8.00 on this crappy meal!" This was a meal no one in Louisiana would recognize as being from our food chain. Horrible as always... Huge issue with this store because THEY ARE NOT GIVING RECEIPTS to customers. I went there today and an item was missing in my order but she never gave me a receipt. Lobby is still closed so i had to go walk back to the drive thru window, the car line was very long so going back that line wasnt an option. When I asked the crew about my missing item she said I didnt get charged for it so i was like how will i know you never gave me a receipt. So whatever I reordered the item,paid for it and asked why she is not handing receipts. She ignored me and shut the drive thru window. When she handed me the food again she never gave me a receipt for it. I called the store for the corporate number the one who answered said she doesn't know and to call back when the manager comes in on Sunday. I asked her why they are not handing out receipts, i told her i think that is illegal she said it's not illegal so i told her I wanna verify with corporate. I love popeyes chicken but the only popeyes we have here in Lawrence is the worst Popeyes I have ever been. Everytime I come here they always forget something, always messes up the order. And for a store that is well know for constant messed up order a RECEIPT is pretty important. I placed an order on the mobile app. The mobile app accepted my order with no issues. I show up and they are slow as can be. Their speaker system is not working and they are just moving at a snails pace. I get up to the front and they don't know where my order is. It's cold and all I did was wait in the line so that should say how long it is. They missed a drink and I only got it because I said they forgot it. I leave and get home they forgot half of my meal. Of course there is no phone number to call so went on their customer service chat. Their chat didn't help so they said they would have someone reach out to me within 24-48 hours. I then had to fix my son food because he wouldn't eat the half of my order I did get. I got an email and they offered me points. They refuse to get me a refund. I am not accepting points at this time. I don't ever want to go back to any Popeyes so points will not do me any good. They will also not allow a manager to contact me about my issue. My hubby and I decided to try the Popeyes out in Lawerence as we have had issues with the one in Topeka. We ordered our food and of course like the Popeyes in Topeka, they were out of items, we order an 8 piece dark and they were short of 4 pieces, we had to substitute it for 4 spicy pieces which was fine. They had Mac and cheese though it was burnt and the fries they gave us were cold. I don't know what has happened to Popeyes over the years but I am seeing the quality go way down and customer service is not always the best either. Worst experience ever. I asked the manager if he could replace the empty soda, so myself and other customers could have a drink with our meals. The manager laughed right in my face and walked off, he didn't change it at all. Another customer asked the manager as well and he didn't do anything either. Yes the restaurant was busy, but for the manager and main face of the restaurant; it was VERY VERY unprofessional. The floors were so sticky that my friends feet got stuck to the floor. There weren't anymore lids in the self serve soda machine. The soda machine needed an ice melt, but yet there was ice piling up since people weren't able to have a good quality soda. The trash cans were over flowing as well. A cashier was complaining about other customers to the current customer she was helping. The whole restaurant could hear her and all the negative things she had to say. She even had an attitude asking her coworkers for food and being off topic. I know there was a lot of stress from making all the sandwiches since they made their comeback today. However I don't think the way the a manger acted towards me was appropriate. It seems as though the employees did not care how they presented themselves, nor how they present themselves to their customers. I work at a fast food restaurant as well, none of this would have happened at all. And if there was something missing or wrong, our crew would fix it immediately. Popeye's, please... my first visit in a long, long time, I'd remembered your red beans and rice being a thing of beauty, one of those evil treats I knew was loaded with a lot of things that tasted good but were probably bad for you. A real treat was what I had in mind. Now? I think it's just loaded with stuff that's bad for you. Gone was that sublime taste that seems to have been replaced with a load of liquid, chemical smoke and too much cheap, fake rice and very little beans and savory broth. That tiny little container that came with my pre-packaged meal was a thing of sadness lacking interest. But first: a nicely designed new building, the staff seemed really friendly and the order was delivered right out to our table. All very professional. The chicken was fresh, moist, lots of good crunch and my 2-piece chicken meal came with an extra wing. Score. Ah, but that sad little container of red beans an rice... I cried a little. OK, maybe not. The biscuit, moist and fine. The total bill with the missus getting the shrimp basket, $12.85. Cheap, plenty of food so a good bargain and they'll likely do well here. It's what America craves: chain food, all the same, everywhere. Sterilized, served by poor college students and those that barely got out of high school. Look, as a rule I avoid chains at all costs. This was my first visit to any fast food eatery (or slow food eatery, whatever those awful Applebee's, Chili's, etc. call themselves) in 2016. Once in awhile I dig a big greasy meal and I came here with high hopes for that side meal I've already dissed. I left with a full belly but an unhappy mind. To prove my point, part-way through the meal I struck up a conversation with three brothers at a nearby table. They were in town coaching an AAU basketball team and had come from Little Rock. We chattered in shared anticipation about the red beans and rice. One got an extra large container. The consensus? "Ain't nothing good going on here with those, that's just not working for me," said one. He just shook his head in disappointment. We concurred. I was ready to go four or five stars had the red beans and rice hit their mark. It's a dish of modest ingredients born out of poverty, slavery and making the best with what little poor people could make. Done right, it is a thing of pure beauty. If this is the standard of Popeye's take on the dish in their corporate culture, shame on you for failing to honor a basic staple that is a treasured southern dish. read more

I went through the drive thru and have had excellent service, I have not had to wait as others have. The number 5 with sweat sauce (Heat) is excellent and I'd argue well priced. As I don't live in Lawrence but visit often, I am inclined to say that it's no better nor worse then any other fast food restaurant. However the food in general is quite good! A+ read more
