I left a review on another site where the restaurant owner responded to my issue where I had charges on my card that were not made a this location in Wethersfield. The restaurant owner responded to the review and brought up possibly going in person with the card where the charges took place to resolve. Now, the only reason I left the review was because the restaurant's listed phone number is not in service. Their corporate customer service line hangs up on you and directs you to a automated chat. After getting a response online from the restaurant owner, I felt that resolving in person was the best way to go. At around 117pm on 9/23/25 I spoke with a female who stated she was the manager. I explained the situation that took place regarding the charge. The manager stated that she wasn't informed by upper management about my situation and that she couldn't help me. I told her about how their restaurant number doesn't work, she rolled her eyes. I informed her that the restaurant owner responded to my review. She told me that the owner doesn't respond to online complaints. When I showed her the review where the owner did indeed respond, she again rolled her eyes and stated 'I can't help you because no one told me about this'. I asked if she can contact the owner. She said no. I asked why not and she said that upper management is supposed to inform her of any issues and then she can help. I stated that when customer grievances need to be escalated, what is the process and how does she not have a way to contact upper management. She said she could call, but she won't. I then showed her how I was charged for something that was not purchased, showing her my online statement. She then said 'that could be from any Popeye's'. I then showed her that it says 'Popeye's Wethersfield CT'. How can that be from any Popeye's? So she tried to make me seem like a liar with the comment that 'the owner doesn't answer online complaints' when I showed her proof. Then she tried to call me a liar by stating that my statement could be from 'any Popeye's' when the proof showed it was made at that restaurant. That is NOT customer service. I asked her again to try and call the owner so they can confirm that they responded to the online complaint and validate my story. She refused again saying that I could 'come back tomorrow'. I then asked her if she could just take my information and contact the owner with it. She refused and said she didn't need to take my information. She then said 'I could call but you can just sit and wait.' and said 'she might call when she's not busy'. She left the conversation to go fill fry sleeves. To the owner of the Popeye location, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone. The fact that I had to deal with a false transaction, tried to get it resolved, had to jump through hoops just to get an answer or direction to a resolution. Only to then, not have a resolution is unacceptable. Also, to have someone under your management team that is disrespectful, shows zero empathy, and has no customer service or customer care skills is abysmal and unacceptable. To the manager on duty on that day, please do better and be better. You have a duty to provide customer service and with that comes the responsibility to serve. The way you treated a patron was uncalled for, embarrassing, and there is no excuse to treat any customer like you did. And to refuse to address a customer issue, even if you just took my information and did nothing with it, would have been a better thing to have done than showing zero empathy or care to begin with. I have already shared this experience with everyone that I personally know and I will be sharing it with the online community where I can. No one should have this type of experience, ever. read more

In terms of national chicken chains operating locally that serve both sandwiches and bone-in chicken, Popeyes is my favorite. I rarely went to the Hartford location that used to be closest to me because I frequently encountered long Drive Thru lines. This new Wethersfield location is now closest to me. I recently stopped for a regular chicken sandwich. The place looks great and is designed for the social media era since there are colorful graphic designs perfect for selfies and pics. Business was brisk. Service efficiency beat my expectations for a newly opened place. Kudos. My sandwich was good. The fried boneless chicken breast was large. The chicken had good texture and moisture. I would have liked a bit more seasoning, but I was not willing to go with the spicy. Maybe next time. The bun was fresh. The pickles seemed a couple steps up from chain pickles. Excluding the area high end fried chicken sandwich places that charge a higher price as a point of comparison, this might be my favorite area fried chicken sandwich. So excited Popeyes is open in Wethersfield!! The two closest are New Britain and Hartford, and they're too out of the way for us. This new location is only 5 mintues away so we couldn't be more excited! We came pretty late, around 8PM on a Thursday for drive thru and it wasn't too bad of a wait. For only being open a week, I expected a longer wait times. We ordered two spicy chicken sandwiches, fries and biscuits. The food was just as good as any other Popeyes which is exactly what you want! I had seen their ad for the Flounder Filet Sandwich and it looked good. It sure tasted good; I had the spicy and my dining partner had the regular. The spicy was def spicy and it made the whole sandwich sing. I had coleslaw with it as I do love their slaw. The piece of fish was large and tasted fresh.She had the fries and I stole quite a few. The roll on the sandwich was sure fresh and with the pickles I had a much better day than I had started off. It's great to see a new Popeyes here in town. There weren't any close by, and we'd generally only eat it when we were on a road trip and passing by. We stopped in on day two of their grand opening and got 3 meals. I got the regular (not spicy) chicken strips with mashed potatoes as a side. My wife got chicken nuggets and coleslaw, and my son got a spicy chicken sandwich with fries. What's nice about Popeyes is they offer actual fried chicken on the bone. So many places that sell chicken only offer strips or nuggets, but sometimes I'm just craving good, old fashioned fried chicken. Today I just wanted strips, and was happy they have a choice. Overall the taste was okay. Because I got regular and not spicy, I didn't expect it to have a huge amount of flavor, but I was a little disappointed because it was actually somewhat bland, with a heavy, greasy feel. My son loved the flavor on his sandwich, but he wasn't a fan of the spicy sauce that was on it. He said he wasn't sure if the chicken itself was spicy or not. That said, he would order the sandwich without the sauce next time. The sides were okay, but again lacked a lot of flavor. Perhaps I'm thinking of another chicken place that has a lot of spices in their food but can actually be overpowering. The guy taking the orders clearly had an attitude problem with just about every customer. I finally got to the front and he asked me "What you want?" I told him my experience with documentation of my receipt and he just told me I should've called last night and they can't do anything. I didn't understand why that was necessary so I proceeded to the pickup window where I was met by what seemed to be the entire including a very rude women who said her name was Ana. On May, 8, 2023, I picked up my son from his school nearby and drove down to this Popeyes to get a 6 piece combo meal for me and my child. When I took my order I was told the chicken was going to be fresh and I had to wait in a separate parking space. I waited for 26 minutes and then they finally came. My son had to get to a tutoring establishment in a separate town that he goes to weekly. This service made my son late to his appointment that could have been prevented if the workers had tried to output better service.
