She is thorough and proactive with her healthcare approach. She also stays current on the healthcare industry to ensure you get the best care and most current protocols based on ethnicity where relevant. This sets her FAR apart from other physicians in the area. I would drive a million miles to see Dr. Supkay. Setting up appts, request of refills, insurance is all an ease due to the excellent attentional to detail & communication. They also have an amazing patient portal which makes communication with Dr Supkay & her nurse very easy. You can also make refill requests & get lab results from the portal. I absolutely LOVE that Dr Supkay does NOT keep your lab results hostage. As soon as CPL completes them, Dr Supkay allows us to see them. And she follows up to discuss of course. I came to her in late 2015-after 13 years not only with the wrong diagnosis but also on not one, not two, but THREE wrong, highly addictive medications. She has helped me get off two, work with other doctors to get my horribly messed up medical history corrected (as much as can be done) and fight with my insurance company (when they didn't seem to understand why I needed an extremely strong anti-nausea med while SLOWLY withdrawing). I started out with Dr A for both med management & counseling-the frequency changes depending on what's going on-Maybe at some point I'll change; she already knows my history and I don't have to repeat it. I need that continuity. Her office staff are fantastic. They get to know each patient (on your terms-definitely not pushy and nothing regarding your session). Now, I chat with the Office Mgr as I come and go. This is a small office, any paperwork is done by few, so I also try hard to be polite and thankful for any help-a couple of times it has been way beyond expectations. Ive never had any problems but I know I can express my concerns & they will be addressed (I might want to wait till I've HAD MY SESSION FIRST, as my issue may have vanished as I calmed down ) Unfortunately I don't believe Dr A is currently accepting new clients-She MIGHT have a wait list or take a client depending on the situation. Who knows. However any recommendations that come from her staff (I didn't ask if I could publish their names) should be high quality. One option-if you are willing to split Med Management & Psychotherapy, at least w Therapists work in the same suite-I will try to get their info to publish. And keep reading as you should feel comfortable going to them.... If you call and a recommendation THIS is why you should try it out: 1. Most are from patient interactions or Dr A's own experiences with them-and we are picky. 2. Dr A has been in the Greater Austin area for almost 3-4 years, she has great connections AND is highly respected within the medical community. It isn't a collection of Biz Cards for handout. When I did this review, I knew it would be the first time My Name would be published with a Psychiatrist or Psychologist and THAT WOULD BE FINE. It's hard to do public reviews for this (not just HealhGrades or Vitals) but these are needed. We need more of these reviews so hopefully more will be done. My depression got so bad that I would tell my husband and kids not to include me in their weekend plans anymore. And I live that way for many years (I'm only 34)....until I met McCall. My TSH levels were at a 19! No wonder why I was suicidal and tired 24/7. I tried to control my Bipolar symptoms for years without success. I tried medication and therapy but nothing seemed to help. I was stuck. Now, a year later on Armour medication, I look forward to the future. I make plans for the future. My kids look happy since I'm always around cooking their favorite foods and we even planted a vegetable garden that has some weird shaped cucumbers growing. To explain how I feel about Double Mac I have to get personal, hopefully you'll be ok with this and not judgmental... Over a year ago I began struggling with my worst bout of depression I had ever experienced and I had no idea what to do or where to go. No psychiatrist's office was accepting my form of insurance and I could not afford $200+ and hour to see a psychiatrist. So, I had my name on waiting lists hoping one of them would start accepting my insurance in the mean time and call me back. Dr. Vache's office was one of those places, she had incredibly kind people who worked for her and saw that I had called several times in a span of 5 months. The front desk staff would call to check on me since they knew I was not receiving treatment. It was during one of these calls that they realized I was not aware that McCall worked for them (at the time, she is now on her own) and could see me at a reduced rate of what the Doctor could. I will not lie, I was hesitant. But, I had been on wait lists all around Austin trying to find a good and reputable place that took my insurance for too long. I was physically and emotionally worn out from white-knuckling through each and every day for the past 5 or more months. I thought McCall was a student in training or something, but of course I couldn't have been more wrong. McCall has excellent credentials, has years of experience, and truly listens to what you say you feel is happening and what you hope to accomplish. She did not give me any medicine until we ran some tests. She helped me find a place that would run the tests and accept my insurance - EEGs are pricey on their own. While we waited on test results, she encouraged me to try some major changes in my diet and she was 100% right - it was a huge help. Just changing my diet helped how I felt in major ways. She continually encourages me to stay away from some medicines and approves others. We do a lot of work with diet, exercise, vitamins/supplements, and then incredibly low doses of medicine. Note: Obviously if she felt I needed stronger doses or I felt I needed stronger doses of a medicine, she would work with me on that. HOWEVER, she knows my goals, she keeps my goals in mind, and she works with me on ways to achieve those goals. Now, while I still struggle with depression and anxiety (I have for over 10 years) for the first time in a very long time I feel like I have someone in my corner medically who understands what is going on with me not only physically, but mentally as well. I have started feeling so much better, she helped me find a therapist who I love and trust. Without her I have no idea where I would be, truly. She cares for me, as I am sure she does for all her patients, and I recommend without hesitation that you give her call.

First, I have been dealing with chronic health issues for two decades and have been to countless specialists of conventional medicine as well other alternative medicine practitioners, never getting much relief and only seeing my symptoms multiply over the years. I found Dr. Akhter because he lives nearby...to be honest, because of my history, I didn't expect much. But I was desperate and don't currently have insurance. I liked that his website was very transparent about cost and that he's an MD that doesn't push pharmaceuticals. The best of both worlds. Both of my consults were telemedicine. Dr. Omar listens really well, is very caring, and answered all my questions. I know quite a bit about my condition, having lived with it so long, and I liked that he respected that. He seems very knowledgeable, but down to earth. Because I was traveling soon, and would be away for a while, he was also very flexible about how I could continue my care abroad. Lastly, but most importantly, I hadn't felt healthy in over 10 plus years, until now. With just a few supplements, Dr. Akhter has allowed me to resume my normal work life with hope and optimism. Because he's a functional medical doctor, his visits are 30 minutes long, with an initial hour appointment. In that first visit, e were able to go over all my labs from the past few years as well as give him a general overview of my health and concerns. And on follow up visits, he answers all my questions and spends time making sure I understand what's going on and our next steps. My medication philosophy is a good fit with his. I use a mixture of traditional and complementary/alternative medicine and am comfortable using supplements, nutrition, herbs, and medications. I prefer to limit the medications to what is absolutely necessary and to use as much as I need to help my body heal - while also not taking more than I need. He aligns with my approach. I've often seen an alternative medical doctor alongside a GP, which can be expensive. It's so helpful to have one doctor that honors both forms of care. Functional medical doctors, because of the extra care they offer, are typically much more expensive than typical doctors. Dr. Akhter's fees are very reasonable, and labs are billed at cost. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Akhter. I encourage you to give him a try!

I came to get my medications renewed and my pharmacy sent them to be ordered from the office. When I returned to the pharmacy they said they never got a reply. I would call the Dr.s office and it would go to voicemail and I would never hear back. I called quite a few times. I figured they closed or moved. I felt very betrayed at the time. I had to see someone else and then they moved. I recently went on Yelp to find a new doctor and saw that Dr. Chikkala was still at the same place!?? WT? I left another message, again, no response! I drove over there today and only the nurse was there. I told her about all this and said she would have someone get back to me. So Dr. Chikkala's husband (who runs the front) Just now called me. He was very rude to me. He said that because it had been almost 2 years that she was no longer my doctor, (well of course she wasn't). I wanted to go back to see her. He wanted to go round and round about when he "said" he called me back a long time ago and it was ME that never responded. LOL really? I DID call, MANY MANY Times! No one ever got back to me. Very irresponsible for a doctor's office. So, I said I would like to get in to see her. Then he tells me that I have to find another doctor because she won't have any information from the last 2 years?? Well, they can get that information from the last group I was at. He proceeded to then just make up stuff and it got ridiculous. He made no sense, I realized he was just being an ass. I really do not wish to deal with people like that so I will find a new, better, more communicative, and responsive doctor's office.
