Food: -Monkey bread ($6), delicious and I loved the cream cheese frosting -One of the Benedettos ($15) - it was surprisingly small and it didn't have all the ingredients listed on the menu (I was so looking forward to those edible flowers that I didn't get!). Eggs were perfectly cooked and it was a nice light benedict. -Iced Latte ($5) - I'm not even sure this was on the menu. But the espresso is not good - I feel terrible saying it but it's just my opinion! -Italian Meat Pizza ($18) - Loved the airy, wood fired crust, but I do think it could have used a hint of sweetness, maybe some balsamic glaze Staff was super nice but extremely slow - I think it took 40 minutes to an hour for us to get our order taken. Pops is by far one of my favorite spots in Ferndale. It guaranteed always tasty and has such a wide menu for anybody to enjoy. I have tried a range of their items and I'm always quite pleased. The restaurant can get crowded, but typically for 2 people the wait is not long or is at least reasonable since the restaurant has lots of room! Would recommend for both brunch and dinner with family, friends or a date! read more

Really liked this place. You can linger, and prices are very fair. You can buy a 30$ bottle of wine, a 16$ meal and feel like you really had a night out. The Arancini was some of the best I've had. Garlic bread is great as well. Pizzas are wood fired --there is a LOT of food --portions are generous. Chicken parm is a fav and I had trout --very good. Second time visiting Pop's and I was excited to return after a couple years. Arrived on Saturday night around 7:15 and only had to wait for 10 minutes. We started with the Caesar salad, which was quite enjoyable. The egg salad addition was unique and added a nice flavor. Lettuce was fresh and there was an appropriate, and not overwhelming, amount of dressing. The gnocchi was quite good. Each chunk was as soft as a pillow. The fresh mozzarella on top was an interesting touch. Liked what it added, though I almost wish it was warm instead of cold. The temperature conflict between the gnocchi and the cheese threw me off. The funghi pizza was quite good. Loved the addition of truffle oil. Crust was crisp and flavorful. Coffee comes from Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company, and was quite good. Wine menu is a bit confusing. The 'wines in waiting' section can't actually be ordered unless they're out of the wines on the main menu. This isn't stated anywhere. In my opinion the glasses of wine were overpriced as well, even given the context of being at a restaurant. Service was alright. Our server tried to rush us through the meal at several points, which was a bit frustrating. Overall, the food was good and I would come back again in the future. This Italian place is great! Such a nice environment, the staff were super attentive and the food was delicious. I had the meatball sub, it was saucy, flavorful, and full of cheeses bits. I am normally not a meatball fan but these were so dynamic. They were child friendly and it was easy to have a 2.5 year old who hates sitting in baby seats. Overall the place was great! read more

This restaurant has been on my to-visit list for years due to the eye-catching photos and positive reviews. The restaurant is cavernous with a large bar at the center. On one side, there are smaller tables while on the other side, there are high tops and picnic tables. I like the garage doors, though they were closed on the day of my visit. A large mural and a display of wine bottles added a nice touch to the overall aesthetics. A brunch menu is usually limited; this one had more choice. There were a variety of eggs benedicts, pancakes, pizzas and salads. I selected the Prosciutto Benedetto which featured prosciutto, (a bit too well-done) poached eggs and sausage gravy. It was served with crispy country fries. During the weekend, the place was irritatingly loud and annoyingly overcrowded. At the bar, not only are the seats hard and uncomfortable, but bar stools are squeezed in so that you become very friendly with your bar neighbors - even if that is not your intent (and are still uncomfortable during COVID). Service was okay. Given the food, ambiance, and the overall service levels, I don't really see myself returning. read more

Drink orders & food orders for the two tables were taken a different times. Of course our food then also arrived at different times (15 min apart). Two meals were incorrect & one additional meal was just not make. These people had to wait for corrections. No management concern or intervention. Food quality was fair, not great. Once these issues were brought to the managers attention. The response was basically, so what do you want me to do about it. My response was "care". Will not be back to pops. Love this spot in Ferndale! Just went for dinner with friends and we were so pleased from start to finish. Lauren, our server was amazing! We wanted to try a bunch of things so we just shared it all. Our favorite starter was the cedar roasted salmon and the Italian family chopped salad. You can't go wrong with any pizza. The wild mushroom fettuccine was by far my favorite. We rented out the rear space for an event and it was really nicely done. The family style meal had us all VERY FULL and we got to try out their food. I loved the charcuterie board, our personal bartender and server, the pizza, and the chicken parmesan were all amazing. I would definitely come again for another event or even if for dining alone. I've been to Pops for both brunch and dinner and I will stay coming back! Pops is always so welcoming and there's even an event space in the back so you can have larger parties. The brunch is amazing, I love that they have more than 1 Benedict and they make them well. The eggs are poached beautifully with a great run. Pops has a slight creative twist on some traditional brunch items, but all things familiar. If you order one thing - make it the monkey bread! It's so fluffy and delicious. For dinner I got the wild mushroom fettuccini and it was a little bland and lacked seasoning so I would try ordering another pasta dish especially because the noodle itself was nice and al dense and made in house so it really is their specialty. I saw this restaurant on Yelp and immediately wanted to try, as I've been looking for a good, hearty Italian place to go to. We came in and it was busy (Sunday evening), but we were immediately seated. Within a few minutes our waiter, Ronan (I believe that's his name!) came over and got our drink orders. We were indecisive as to what to get, so we asked him for recommendations and went off that. We started originally wanted to try the calamari but they were our for the evening so we went with Arancini Parma Grana which is stuff risotto with mozzarella in a tomato purée. The outside was perfectly crispy and the inside was soft and cheesy, the flavor was amazing alone but when you dipped it in the marinara - it immediately hit your tastebuds. I have been craving good old spaghetti and meatballs, so that's exactly what I ordered - I wasn't disappointed. The spaghetti was thicker than I'm used to, but their pasta is made fresh daily and you can taste that. The meatballs were AMAZING. The were so tender, to the point they were falling apart and not dense at all. The marinara for the spaghetti was so flavorful, tangy, hearty and everything you'd want/expect. My sister ordered Linguine & Clams, I tried a bite of the pasta (not a clams, muscles, etc fan) and it was cooked good and flavorful. We also ordered the Funghi pizza - wild mushrooms, cipollini onions, truffle oil, chives and olive oil... the pizza was good but not something I'd order again. The dough was great at the crust but towards the center was soggy - had I known, I would've asked for it to be cooked well done. All around, from the beautiful decor, to the great staff and amazing food - I definitely recommend and will be back soon for more meatballs and to try more! read more

The best for Italian with a great atmosphere!! Make sure to book reservations on the weekends or get there before 6:30pm. I always look for a spot at the bar because it's full-service and the bartenders are wonderful! The calamari is delicious as well as their spicy Italian pizza and chicken Parmesan. My two girlfriends and I died there last night and had a reservation at 6 PM. While my food was fine, theirs was cold, but our waitress was great about it and fixed it so no real issue. Around 8 o'clock, the "director" of the store stopped by and told us we needed to leave because we had surpassed our two hour time limit. I had made the reservation and there was no record of this whatsoever in any confirmation that I got and the waitress never mentioned it to us at any point during our dinner. We tried to explain this to him, and he was a condescending d$ck. I mean a real a$$hole. Whoever really runs this restaurant should put this "director" in his place. read more

We were having a nice dinner when the "director" came by our table to inquire how our dinner was (barely) then to tell us there is only a 2-hour limit to stay at the restaurant....very rudely. We were never told there was a 2 hour limit. When we mentioned that to him, instead of saying I'm sorry to hear that, he said it was on the website when the reservation was made on-line. In addition, our food was cold when it arrived to the table so we had to send it back. The waitress was amazing about it, however there was a 20 minute delay to get it back. Recently we were craving a good pasta and decided to order takeout from Pop's considering my great experience at Yelp event that I participated couple of years ago and further visits that we loved. I'm not sure what happened, my husband's carbonara pasta that costs $15 were like a kids size, we could not belive when we saw how small it was. I got the mushroom fettuccine with vegan cashew sauce and it was just ok. It had a little sour taste. The best part was tiramisu but here again, comparing to the one we had at the restaurant or was much smaller.
