Ok so I still love pops but this time around the Mac and cheese was so bland that I fed it to my dog. Nothing helped it, I tried pepper jalapeno juice and still just bland, the green beans I kinda felt the same about. But my roasted chicken leg and fried leg were both great. Other meal meatloaf and mashed potatoes were good. Deviled egg good but needed more relish or something. This place had the highest marks for fried chicken so we thought we would give it a try. We planned on takeout so we tried to call them numerous times around 6:00pm but kept getting an answering machine. Decided to try ordering online via door dash and were more successful. The food was ready for pickup in about 20 minutes which was nice. When I went to pickup and told them my name, they looked confused but found my order pretty quickly. The order was complete and accurate, hot and well packaged. We got the fried chicken and chicken and dressing with 2 cobblers. The chicken was very good. Even the breast was moist and tasty. The sides were another story. The mashed potatoes are on par with KFC bland and powdery tasting, the corn overcooked, bread dry. The sweet potato mash was decent as well as the fried okra. Positive remarks on the cobbler by those that had it. The take out did not have any utensils, napkins or condiments so be sure and ask for them or check if they are needed. read more

I've had better mac'n cheese from the freezer case and the okra was hard and dry...again... the cornbread was...wait for it...dry...again. The roll was nice. Good roll. We arrived at Pop's @ 6:30 & there was a steady stream of customers Dining In and at the Drive Thru, from the time we arrived till the time we left, an hour later. First, Pop's is clean and the servers are super helpful and friendly. So, let's get started.....I'm starrrrvin'! I was pretty overwhelmed at the selection of meats to choose from....Fried Chicken, Baked Chicken, BBQ Chicken, Fried Fish, Meat Loaf, BBQ Ribs, CFS, Spaghetti & Meat Sauce, Chicken & Dumplings, Burgers, Chicken Spaghetti, and so on & so on. The Veggie selection is massive....whole kernel corn, green beans, mashed potatoes and cream gravy, fried okra, french fires, candied yams, turnips greens, squash casserole, macaroni & cheese, blackeyed peas, broccoli & rice casserole...& so on & so on. There's also coleslaw, green pea salad, deviled eggs, dinner salad, etc.......and, Last But, Not Least, the homemade Peach Cobbler, Banana Pudding and several different cake and pie slices. I'll say this, it takes some restraint to pick just one meat & 2-3 sides. I chose the 3 Fried Chicken Wing Special, mashed potatoes w/ cream gravy, broccoli casserole, I split a side of green pea salad w/ hubby, a large 1/2 sweet & 1/2 unsweet iced tea, and had the peach cobbler for dessert. Hubby chose the 2 piece fried chicken ( leg & a breast w/ some of the BEST honey for dippin'), mashed potatoes w/cream gravy and corn, 2 pieces of cornbread, with tea and peach cobbler, as well....2 dinners, all for $19.00! Ya can't beat that, my friend! There was very little conversation as we dove into that good old country cookin'. This was my first time here but my gf couldnt stop raving about it so we came. I don't really do fried chicken but that's fine because they have catfish. The gf had meatloaf, each with two sides and we also tried the peach cobbler. We went through the drive thru so I don't knownwhat the inside is like. Yes, it's a drive. They have 15 meats and 17 vegetables. It's cafeteria styled. I had the meatloaf which had a heavy flavor of green bell peppers. The macaroni and cheese was very cheddary, but not oily. The goulash was great, kinda on the spicy side but really hearty. The chicken and dressing was better than my grandmother makes, with lots of sage and really moist. Fried fish was so good they couldn't keep the bin full. The potato salad was mustard, and you could taste the dry mustard in it and in the deviled-eggs. It's not a real pretty establishment but according to my Dad, it's always busy. And get the peach cobbler, there's a peach orchard right outside downtown Terrell and the peaches come from there...yummy! When driving down the main strip in Terrell look for the big yellow sign on the right side right after downtown. If your in the area, it's worth stopping! Usually you can get a good meal for 5 bucks..and the sweet tea is just wonderful.. Makes me hungier when I keep thinking about it. The fried chicken is decent.. but its greasy goodness!! As far as everything the veggies are mediocre, they even have fried okra.. but hey what do you except? Just as long as the price is reasonable! We stopped by this location after a trip to Dallas. Reading the reviews also helped in the sexist to stop here. With COVID-19 still active, I was happy to see that they had a drive-thru. I will saw that the chicken fried steak was cooked just right with an unexpected pourable gravy which is unusual with takeout. The fried chicken and fish were both very tasty as well. I was not as pleased with the sides which consisted of macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. Both lacked taste but I understand that most restaurants today cook in a manner to allow the patrons to season to their desire. Overall, I was pleased and the price was great for the potion size received. I will stop by this restaurant again. read more

Just to be clear, the chicken is fine, but their prices vary continuously. I went to the drive thru and read the price board. It said 2 chicken breasts $4.49. You used to get 3 for $4.99, but I said OK, I'll get two. I gave them a $20 and come to find out the cash register" charged me $4.99. I tried to ask the girl at the window, but she just shrugged her shoulders and said that's what it rang up as. I was steamed. She didn't check it out or ask someone else to. Is 50 cents a big deal? Maybe not, but the attitude and false prices on the to go board is.
