Nice little breakfast/lunch spot near Kentucky Arts Distillery. Stopped here before our tasting for a quick breakfast. I loved the choices offered. I had the Avocado toast with fruit and hubs had the omelette with the three meats (can't remember name) - delicious! It's order at the counter and food brought out. As a side note the potatoes were sooo good. Prices reasonable and friendly service.

Great little place I found (due to Yelp!) that is near a distillery we are touring. Has a great relaxed atmosphere. Very cozy. Mismatched tables and chairs. You order at the counter and they deliver your food and drinks. We shared a homemade cinnamon roll which they warmed up and served before our meals were served. I had the Signature Burrito. It it is stuffed with ingredients. It was good except it had tomato jam in it, which was a little sweet and not something i care for in my burrito. My wife had eggs, bacon, and taters. The bacon was some kind of smoked bacon and crispy. Very good. Also the taters were very nicely seasoned and perfectly roasted. I had coffee, but found it pretty bland and could do for an upgrade. Overall a great place and I would definitely recommend it.

    Beignets

The beignets were so good and so was the iced sweet tea and so sad that I couldn't eat more of them because I was saving room for funnel cake at the state fair.

In an attempt to find a local business for brunch, the original one chosen had a 1 hour waitlist. That definitely tells you it's good if people will wait. However, given we had driven over an hour and were now hangry, we needed somewhere close and quick. Another online review source gave this place high marks as it was here or the chain breakfast restaurant closer to where we started. Called in to hear that they were steadily busy but not crazy. The GPS confused us because the sign on where to turn and what the GPS said didn't match, which made us miss the turn. This quaint little cafe is tucked in the corner of a small strip mall. It looks like it used to be part of a drive thru take out place before as there was a drive up window and an unconnected order menu board. This is ideal spot for the local neighborhood and you can tell it's well liked as there was a steady stream of patrons in/out for sit down and take out. They had a cute little breakfast bar with pastries that is ideal for a grab and go thing. The bar has bourbon barrel seats which definitely keeps you in the KY atmosphere. We arrived a little close to 1230pm. There were a couple tables ready to sit at but had to ask for someone to clean up. The table next to us had a small family seated before us. We noticed that although the table top was cleaned, the chairs and floor with the crumbles from the Littles was not swept up. Although it wasn't filthy, it was a little distracting when we realized the next person who sat down didn't realize they sat on food. The staff are either high school or early college students. All were pleasant and helpful. Hubby ordered the biscuits and gravy. When I asked why he didn't order any sides he said we were already rung up our order that didn't give him a chance to ask. Of course, that's also his fault for not speaking up (haha). My order was the French Toast which was supposed to come with a bourbon Maple syrup and pecans. Not a big pecan fan so it wasn't a big deal it was missing but there wasn't even a hint of bourbon detected. The extra egg and sausage ordered was perfect and a good choice for sides. It's just too bad they didn't include it as part of the order. My suggestion would be to order the classic if you want a traditional big breakfast. The steel cut oatmeal bowls looked appealing and good portion. The same with the beignets they offer. The gravy was a disappointment. Although not a bad flavor, when you've grown up with SOS style gravy the expectations are a bit high. From what it tasted the gravy is more of a chicken base than a sausage based flavoring that we're used to enjoying. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but helpful to know if you are expecting what we did. Overall, it is in hopes that Hardin County opens up something like this place for us to enjoy closer to home. If you're in Oldham County, this may be a good option for a quaint weekend place that's not insanely busy with decent food and service.

Quaint little breakfast nook. Food was tasty and cold brew was strong. Service was friendly and helpful. Wish they didn't have cleaning supplies and trash can in view behind the counter and maybe some music playing. Minor issues compared to a great overall experience will definitely recommend this place.

Madeleine's is not a wine tasting bar but a restaurant with an extensive wine list (for this small town, at least). They have a fairly extensive food menu as well as many unique wines on their list. They also serve beer, if that's your thing. One of the owners seated us and let us know that we could sample any of the wines with which we were unfamiliar before ordering a full glass. Although we had not planned to eat there as it was 3pm, our husbands popped in, so we ended up with an order of meatballs too. We absolutely loved them! They had a very bright flavor with a hint of some sort of spice in the sauce, which was amazing. We plan to come back for an actual dinner at some point soon as the food that we had was exceptional. The menu is extensive; the ambience is nice; and, the service was excellent. A bit of backstory for you -- the owners had moved from New York back to Kentucky after many years in the high-end restaurant business in New York City. The "Madeline" in the name of the restaurant is not the name of either owner; it's the name of one of the owner's mothers -- traditionally done in the restaurant business for good luck!

Additionally, the back deck is perfect. Can't wait to go back and sit, sipping cocktails and nibbling snacks...when it isn't the temperature of hell outside. Service/staff was friendly and knew the menu well. Literally everything on the menu is recommended, and I don't think she was fibbing about it all being good. We had cocktails (blackberry bourbon ice tea and white sangria), apps (meatballs and mushroom dip), an amazing entree (baked cod over panzanella salad), and dessert (affogato with chocolate syrup). Every bite was fantastic. I left completely satisfied without being over-full. Can't wait to return with friends!

We had a conversation with the owner who has degrees in Food Science and Culinary Arts, and is passionate about "changing the world with food." The inside is cozy, inviting, and meticulously clean. There is a small bar area and an area of table seating. Outdoor seating is available as well. The bistro is known for one of its appetizer small plates of deviled eggs. The owner said that the recipe for the eggs is one of the few things he is not wiling to share! Employees and patrons have drawn pictures of deviled eggs that are displayed on a wall space. I opted for the grilled chicken Greek salad. Greek salad is a favorite of mine and I have eaten it from numerous restaurants. By far, this was the best I have ever had. The artful presentation, fresh ingredients, and decadent flavors were a real treat. The chicken was so tender and again, the flavor bloomed in my mouth. The owner brought out a small serving of homemade peach ice cream that had been made the day before with fresh peaches. I simply have no words for how delicious it was. I will let my husband describe his experience in his yelp account, but I will say that after having salmon the night before at an 'upscale' restaurant in Louisville, he commented that the salmon at this bistro "blew it away!" People often say "I will return and try other menu options," when in fact they do not follow through. That will not be the case with us, we both agree that we cannot wait to return!

My wife had an exceptional Greek salad w/ chicken while I opted for a mixed green salad with grilled salmon; easily the finest piece of fish I have eaten in Louisville. It was grilled to perfection with a spice mixture of his own creation which he would not divulge! At the end of the meal we were severed a sample of his homemade peach ice cream.
