Cute little side-of-the-road place. I got the pulled pork platter, sweet potato, jalapeño chips, and blackberry shake (amazing). Everything was so good and came out really fast. Our waitress was awesome, but I am giving it 4.5, if I could, because they were out of a lot of things we wanted. On top of it all, the price was really reasonable. This place is pretty good the chicken wings are above average. The BBQ can trend to be a little on the dry side. All and all it is one of the best places to eat around the lake. The service always tends to be a little on the slow side either due to the crowd or lack of staffing. Be ready to wait and you will be satisfied. read more

The bad: sometimes they run out of meat because it is smoked the day before. And sometimes the staff can be a little rude And sometimes you can wait a long time for service. (Once waited three hours for drinks). The good: if you avoid the bad you are looking at mouthwatering BBQ that is second to none. The beef brisket is great as is the pork. And don't forget the pork Ranch fries!!!! It's a little out of the way of town, but right near the lake. I have a few recommendations. One: order a appetizer of Pork Ranch fries, add some pops spicy BBQ sauce, and a sweet tea to go. Drive to the spillway sit and enjoy. Two: order a beef brisket meal. Cole Slaw and Pork Ranch fries as your side, and a sweet tea to drink. Add the spicy BBQ sauce to the fries and the brisket and sit outside at the restaraunt if it's nice out. Good news, neither option breaks the bank (after all it is a college town). Oh, and heads-up, there's a little bit of taxidermy. Possibly the best beef brisket I've ever had. Definitely recommend stopping here if you're in the area.

Sketchy Circus (my friend Renau and I) stopped here after a weekend of camping at Zilpo Campground on Cave Run Lake. We just happened to see it as we were driving home. I had the special of the day: Teriyaki Ribs w/ two sides. For my sides I chose a baked sweet potato and fried green tomatoes. The ribs were delicious, I added extra sweet bbq sauce. After seeing Renau's loaded sweet potato, I wish I had ordered that. Mine was just the potato with butter and cinnamon sugar on the side (shoulda ordered the marshmallows!). We both had leftovers to take home with us. Our waitress was a sweetheart. It was crowded while we were there but that did not diminish our service or lengthen our wait time. The decor was a riot! The bathroom was very clean. It appeared to be popular with bikers. I would reccomend this place to friends and if I find myself in the area again some day I would be happy to stop to eat again. read more

Good ribs, very good brisket, and excellent coleslaw. I was traveling across Kentucky, stopped for gas, and checked yelp while I was filling up. Even though I had to backtrack 10 miles to get here, I wanted barbeque, so I did. It was worth the backtrack, work can wait. This is a great barbeque/dessert place. The bbq was very good but I would not go back if I was crunched for time. The staff was super friendly and really apologetic for the wait, but I expected a semi-quick bite to eat before going out to the lake. My friend and I ended up there for almost 2 hours waiting on our food. The actual meal itself was tasty, but I would not recommend the strawberry shortcake. I mean, slimy strawberries with freezerburned vanilla ice cream? No worth it. My friend's ice cream was a little bit better, but still not worth it. Admittedly they were pretty busy, and I might go back sometime when it isnt. But for now? With that wait? No thanks. read more

I had the pulled pork sandwich. It was probably best I've ever had. Piled with lean, moist, and super tender meat. Sauce served on the side so you can make as messy as you like. I might add the sauce also was fabulous. Served with your choice of side all for less $6. read more

Husband ordered the brisket Rueben and said it was delicious! I had the grilled chicken salad and it had a huge amount of chicken in the salad. No scrimping with the meat at this restaurant! Waitress was so adorable and helpful. Great experience ! read more

We have been here several times so today when we stopped for supper we were disappointed for the first time. After we were seated no one ever came back to wait on us- we did not even get drinks.Two waitresses walked by us and neither acknowledged us. After 10 minutes we left.Yes it was busy but not as busy as I have seen it before-there were no customers outside and there was an empty table. If someone had just let us know they knew we were there and would be with us we probably would not have gotten up and walked out and got our supper somewhere else. read more

Not really great. Got a pulled pork sandwich and the bun was soggy by the time it got to me. I tried to just eat some of the pork alone but it just really just wasn't that good. Cole slaw was okay, but that didn't exactly make up for the whole meal. Not exactly the cleanest place I have ever been to, but it wasn't filthy by any means. It was exceptionally loud for a pretty dead restaurant though. Just not really what you would expect from a good BBQ place. read more

Forewarning the brisket at this place can be hit or miss! Out of 10+ trips, there was a time when the brisket was 2/5 with burnt toast and sub par sides. I've also heard this from a friend who's gf worked as a server, the food can vary depending on who's manning the smoker/kitchen on the day. That being said every other trip I've made has been 10/10. I always get the pulled pork/brisket platter side of onion rings and coleslaw. The pulled pork easily stands alone, but the handful of sauces offered will fit anyone's taste. Some might say the brisket comes off a bit greasy, but I absolutely love it. And that's what the coleslaw is for right? A side of texas toast also helps cut some of the heaviness of the meal. While the onion rings are exactly how onion rings should be, large and crispy. I've also tried their chicken and a handful of other sides off friends plates. The chicken was very juicy with good flavor, if that's your thing at a bbq joint rock on. The sides followed suit with the rest of the food, although I really do recommend the onion ring/slaw combo. The wait staff has always been friendly. Even when arriving 15 minutes before closing, we were actually brought a basket of the remaining fries on the day. The wait is what you'd expect depending on how busy they are. I'd say the atmosphere is a bit touristy? Can get very busy during the summer dinner rushes. But in no way are they taking advantage with a tourist price. Is actually fairly cheap for bbq and the portion sizes won't leave you hungry. I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area or passing through. It seems ever person I've brought so far has loved it. And this is all coming from a pretty stingy reviewer who's reluctant to toss out a 5/5. Enjoy! Oh and don't be afraid of the drive through if you're in a rush. Stopped for dinner on the way to our campground as a spur of the moment decision. Food and milkshakes were tasty. The service was also better than some other posts stated. We would definitely eat here again. The only negative thing was the lighting was a little too dim. read more
