Poquitos is an interesting spot and we did enjoy our meal and time here, we did have a good group outing and the prime spot on capitol hill which is worth something. While the gauc was top notch incredibly fresh and we thoroughly enjoyed the salsa trio. I was surprised that you do have to pay for chips and salsa but this was a cut above the normal free ones you get at other places. The star was the toasted tomatillo-serrano we had to get a second order of the salsa because we liked it so much. We were intrigued by the Chapulines - grasshopper's sautéed in sea lime salt, we got them and were a bit surprised by the fact there is not really a distinct flavor to them and they had just taken the powerful seasoning with a bit of a crunch. I noticed they had Baja fish tacos on the lunch menu so I was sold on the fact that it was Mahi Mahi based hit the spot. The meat was well seasoned grilled perfectly and had loads of garnishing for a crisp fresh finish. I did trade a fish taco for a carnitas and that was very good as well but not earth shattering but very good once you have had a few drinks in you. We did enjoy our time with friends the staff were friendly and accommodating. The drinks were good as they have to be with the with the quality of bars in this neighborhood. We happened to just find this place while walking in the neighborhood. It was nice, the server was nice but the quality of the food and the prices were not good. I really can't eat large plates and wanted a taco dinner with 1 taco with rice and beans and was told the only plate option was the 3 taco dinner. It was not even an offer for a la carte items. I ended up getting the larger plate, then was told for adasa instead of birria(?) It was an extra $3. The food was bland. Food) Nachos -- 4.8/5 stars Super well priced, amazing portion size, the guacamole was fantastic and the jalapeño queso stole the show. These nachos were fantastic, and the only thing they missed on was not putting enough black beans (most of mine seemed to have fallen to the bottom. Kale & Mushroom Burrito -- 4.5/5 stars My friend ordered this, and while it tasted fantastic (both delicious and filling), it was very oily. That being said, well worth the price and the flavor was great. Salsa Trio -- 4.8 / 5 stars Our waitress was amazing -- she heard we were there to celebrate my friend's birthday and surprised us with the Salsa Trio, which was awesome. This comes with red salsa, salsa verde, and pico de gallo (with chips!) and it was a great accomplice to our other items. We were feeling a little sad that there weren't the free chips/salsa you get with many Mexican restaurants, so this item was awesome. Great Mexican restaurant right in the middle of all the hype in Capitol Hill in Seattle. Parking is not so ideal since Street parking is very limited and parking lots are a bit expensive. But we got lucky with finding street parking and since it was closer to 10 PM we only needed To put money for an hour before it was free after that. We walked into the restaurant and a very lovely woman greeted us and gave us a booth and not long after A :-) gentleman came to get our drink orders. We ordered a jalapeño margarita and a plain house margarita. The drinks took a bit of a long time to come out but we were busy eating chips and guac so we did not mind it as much. They finally came out and I was a bit sad that my house margarita was in a shorter glass then the jalapeño margarita. We just assumed that they would both be the same size. Anyway we went on to ordering, and the last time I was here I had ordered a tostada salad but they said they no longer have that and instead they serve the chop salad. I quickly change my mind and decided to go with the ceviche which normally is an appetizer but I wanted it as my main dish. We asked our waiter what other dishes he would recommend and he suggested we go with one other specials which was another type of ceviche made with tuna fish. We took his word and ordered that. Once again it took a while for the food to come out and the regular ceviche which was meant as an appetizer was absolutely delicious however the one that our waiter had recommended was maybe 1/4 of what the regular ceviche was. It was an extremely extremely small portion but not only that it had an extremely strong fish flavor and odor, to the point that I could not have anymore after the first bite. It's a shame because we came in with the memories of what we had experience the first time around but the food was just not the same as before and the service was a bit slower. Been here a few times back in the day when it first opened, but haven't really returned until recently when my friend and I were in the area and wanted a margarita before seeing a show at nearby Neumo's. And after having done so, I remembered why I hadn't returned. The food and drinks just fall short for me. ...Which is really too bad because the space is awesome! It's huge, with a wrap-around bar, plenty of dining seats and a back area with a fire pit and dim lighting. It looks like a fun place for a gathering and being centrally located on Capitol Hill makes it easy for people to want to check Poquitos out. But again, you're here to get great food and drinks which has never really been the case for me in my visits. As I mentioned - my friend and I were last here to get margaritas and ordered a Purist Margarita for each of us, which is basically just tequila and lime juice, so no bullshit, right? But it tasted super sweet, which I wasn't a fan since I do not like sugar-y drinks. My friend also ordered chips and salsa, and though it comes with three different salsas - chips were stale. Poquitos just didn't make the cut once again. Although Poquitos is an appealing place with the decor and space in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, I wouldn't come here for my Mexican fix. read more

They have a wide selection of drinks which are yummy and I got the Baja fish tacos which were a perfect serving size. We also got the salsa trio since chips and salsa weren't free. Absolutely loved this place! Came here for my sisters birthday and to celebrate her and her husbands wedding the day before. Great experience from start to finish. Our server, Alice, was INCREDIBLE for it only being her 4th day working she was a natural and we would have never known she just started here. The food and drinks were amazing. We had the mezcal margaritas and fresas. Highly recommend the chicken quesadilla. At the end of our meal I snuck away to ask Alice if They had anything she recommended for desserts, but unfortunately the kitchen was closed. But not worry! Alice was able to make it work and got her a cup of whipped cream with fruit and a candle to sing happy birthday along with a nice blow job shot for the groom (sister wasn't drinking). HAPPY HOUR is the best time to go! The drinks are strong and delicious. With it being winter I love getting seats next to the fire pits to stay warm. If you're looking for more authentic Mexican cuisine (with better flavors) there are a lot more options in the city. Large spaces between tables, you order your food and drinks through plexiglass at the bar - which was original and great! - and I saw them sanitizing tables between customers. The ambiance is vey different from your traditional mexi place which I appreciated - unique lighting and a darker tone as opposed to the largely colorful style of say, azteca. Lol. For the past 5 years I have been a regular at poquitos and had great service and great food and unusual dishes. Their Yucatan chicken was my favorite dish for years and still was to this day. After my experience with takeout tonight and how poquitos handled the situation this will be my last visit ever to poquitos. When I got to my apartment I opened up the bag and my chopped salad had wilted lettuce and rotten advocados. The guacamole was watered down and looked like it had green food coloring to make it green. The Yucatan chicken now called citrus chicken was missing the rice and beans. To make matters worse the Yucatan chicken was so dried out and old I could chew it because it was tough. The salsa trio which comes with 3 salsas tasted like pace picante salsa and poquitos charges $10 for it. What a rip off!! I have tried calling poquitos on the phone to complain to the manager with no one answering the phone. I tried calling poquitos 10 different times. I emailed poquitos twice with no response. This is no way to treat a customer with rancid food and not answering the phone. I threw the food in the trash rather than risking getting sick. Poquitos took money and took advantage of me. Since I paid with an American express credit card I may file a dispute with American express and refuse to pay for this meal. read more

Went in yesterday for the second time. Had the Corn Esquites which is one of the appetizers. Definitely has its spicy to it, gotta squeeze the lime on top first tho! Any shred of customer service is dead. Walked by shortly after 7:45p on a Sunday. Door sign said closing at 8:30p. Stood by the 'wait here' sign for quite a while before a staff member finally approached my gf and I to say, "we're closed for the night". I asked if the door sign was wrong. She said that the kitchen was already closed to which I replied that we were only looking to get a few drinks. She replied that they were closed because we would not be able to leave in time. I literally took out my phone to show her that it was 41min until their posted closing time and asked if the owners knew that the staff were turing away customers 41 minutes before closing time. She didn't answer the question and repeated that we could not be seated because we wouldn't leave on time... I remember restaurants dragging me in 10min before their posted closing hours - "that's just our last seating time." That's dead now. We just had a terrible experience here. We ordered two grilled chicken quesadillas and they were nothing but empty tortilla basically a very small piece of chicken and half part cheese. Their cokes are very flat and full of ice so basically you get two sips of each glass and then its water. The chips are good but their Guacamole was below average. Meh... I really do not know what the hype was about. The food was mediocre at best. For the price I was expecting something more than stale tasting chips and dry tasteless barbacoa (which is suppose to be spiced and juicy). The grilled corn was ok but had canned pickled jalapeno... IDK, thought that was pretty weird for an $11 plate. The restaurant has indoor seating or seating "outside" in the atrium, but i'm pretty sure the booths are made of concrete.
