I'm sorry to do this, but I am afraid this location specifically has some of the worst customer service I have ever had. As yelpers we are hopefully aware that everyone has off days, and there are always a few random staff that don't represent the restaurant well. Bottom line, during dinner I was burnt by the hot cast iron that they brought to my table, obviously it was a mistake, but I was not offered an apology nor was I checked on. I have patience for new staff, but this person just seemed extremely negligent. I am here leaving a review in hopes that someone introduces some table etiquette to training their staff for the future. I will say that all of the food and drinks that we ordered did taste delicious, but unfortunately I left feeling like I had a sour taste in my mouth on if I wanted to come back because I was not treated very well. Since going here I have tried the other location, and despite this experience I think that you should at least go in to see for yourself if you enjoy their food and menu options. At bare minimum I think the atmosphere at both locations is really lovely and fun to be in. read more

There is a large indoor space and a large outdoor space that also has a bar. If you get lucky and come during the warmer days they will open the windows (more like garage doors) to get the nice breeze. For drinks my first was the watermelon-mint margarita ($12) which is apparently one of our waitress' favorite drinks but I thought it was just okay to me. My second drink was basically a strawberry margarita which was better than the first one. My friend and I both ordered the mixed taco plate ($15.50) which includes one chicken, one steak, and one al pastor taco so we were able to try all the different meats. I loved the chicken but the al pastor was my favorite. They were a little smaller though so each taco was gone in three bites (or is that a me problem?). They have a couple sauces that go well with the tacos but are spicy so beware!! The rice that came with it was surprisingly really good and addicting; I could eat that rice all day if I wasn't trying to cut to get that summer body. Great location! Great look, unfortunately I cannot say the same about the staff or the food! Ugh, hate when that happens. This was my first visit and it was with a party of 15 ppl or so. Relax, we had reservations 2 weeks in advance. That didn't change the service we received. Our server seemed disoriented and tired. I truly felt bad for her. I had the yam tacos. The day of they weren't very good. The yams were tough and the goat cheese sparse.The second day reheat made the yams more tender and easier to eat. The Spanish rice and black beans are just okay. I took a survey with the other people in our party and got the same feedback. The food was not good and the service was disappointing. I really recommend this place for drinks and location. Save your money on the food and don't expect too much from the staff! That is my humble opinion. read more

Delicious!!! The food was amazing, the ambiance is so cute, and the staff was super friendly. Coming from California I've had a lot of Mexican food and this was great. TBH, this wasn't our first choice, but it was a last-minute decision to go to Capitol Hill and every other place we looked at was booked up already, so we made a reservation at Poquitos. We were seated right away when we arrived, but finally had to flag someone down 30min later so we could order. That person then waved someone else over and that woman took our order. She was friendly enough, but a few moments after she left, she came back to confirm our order. I mean, I'm glad she did, because she got pretty much everything wrong (it was just three of us, and we didn't have any special requests other than extra cheese on the nachos), but I just don't get why servers don't write anything down anymore if they can't remember stuff. When our food was brought out, the food runner asked who had the nachos. I pointed to one of my friends, then I pointed to my other friend and said, "salad," and said I had the enchiladas. I felt I was polite about it and was just trying to be helpful. Except he kind of rolled his eyes and goes, "We number you, we know who gets what." Well, yeah, I get that restaurants do that, but then why did you ask who had the nachos? Jerk. My friends seemed to like their nachos and salad, but I didn't like my enchiladas. The flavor was good (I got the suizas), but the tortillas were thick and doughy and the shredded chicken was super dry. The side of rice and beans was also strangely dry, and the rice was a bit hard (it had the texture of rice that's been in the refrigerator then taken out to sit at room temperature for a while). Anyway, food was not great and neither was the service. I also dislike places that make you pay for chips. I've said it before in other reviews--as long as everyone orders an entree, things like chips and bread (at least a first serving) should be complimentary. It's difficult to describe the depth of flavor in there Carne Asada but it's one of the closest things that I found to real authentic carne Asada from the Jalisco region of Mexico and I cannot express with words how this food is so close to the original. If I was still legally allowed to dance in any of the lower 48 states I might attempt an interpretive dance that's somewhere between Elaine Bennis full body seizure set to music and Mr. Roboto. I always get the same boring thing: a dozen of their tacos no onions and my mouth has an explosion of delicious yumminess that Shakespeare himself would struggle to encapsulate in a mere 26 letter alphabet. The only thing the store doesn't have that would make it more authentic as far as genuine Mexico is an open sewer within nose shot of the store and seeing military trucks filled with soldiers in the back drive by every few hours. Then you need a line at least 20 minutes long and the rotating spit out front with the sliced meat rotating towards open flame with a pineapple on top but the food taste almost the same. So I appreciate how they've chosen to reproduce the best parts and allowed us to enjoy the food in their store or take it to go for a park or home to enjoy a marvel movie on Apple TV. read more

Decent place if you like a large crowd atmosphere. Came here on a Saturday night for couple of drinks with my friends. It was pretty packed, but we did find a table with the fire pit to sit at. Service was very attentive and friendly even it was busy. That was a plus! We all ordered some Margaritas, and we ordered one order of chip and avocado to share. Surprising their avocado dips is really good and fresh. Taste like they just made it or something. It was a fair portion too. One thing I do like to point out is that why would they pass out their "Happy Hour Menu" to us on a Saturday night, when HH is only for Sunday thru Thursday!? I got the Fresco strawberry margarita. It was very fruity, maybe too much juice. I can't taste the liquor much? Maybe, just whoever was making my drink. I didn't order any of their food, I wasn't hungry. I saw couple orders was brought out to other tables, the portion for the entrees were small lol. Well, I'm glad the chip and avo/salsa was still fair. A buddy of mine who we were meeting came to the restaurant at 6:47 and placed the same reservation.10 minutes later his table was ready. Everything about it was great from the service, atmosphere, quick seating, and food/drinks. I just had a regular margarita and if was great, I'm a hard judge on margaritas so I'll give them this as there is nothing worse then sitting down At a Mexican restaurant and getting a terrible marg. I had the fish mahi mahi tacos and they were so delicious. Others at our table had the trio taco and the quesadilla and they all very much enjoyed. Located in the Capital Hill area of Seattle, this vibrant Mexican restaurant does not disappoint. The food has delicious flavor, and it's served hot and fresh. I ordered the fish tacos, and OMG they were great. The fish was perfectly fried, and the veggies on top were fresh and crisp. We also ordered the salsa trio and street corn. Both really yummy too. Being from Texas you can get very defensive over your mexican food. This place passed my particular taste profile for tacos. Had the chicken tacos, wife had the shrimp and we were both blown away! Me and my woman went here during an outing in Capitol Hill. She raved about it for weeks. Her sister is really into it as well. So we went and I was in love! We got the chips and salsa tray to start. All three salsas it came with were phenomenal in their own way. The pico was amazing. She can't really do pico because of her weird cilantro gene thing but was still able to enjoy it. I got the Texas style breakfast tacos. They were so savory. The bacon was cooked to perfection, the salsa verse was the perfect blend of spicy and slightly sweet, and the eggs were perfect consistency. The cheese sauce was delicious but there was a little too much of it. The restaurant itself was a nice mix of cozy and upscale. There were personal fire pits on tables in the bar which has these beautiful large windows looking out into the city. There was plenty of room between tables so you feel like you have enough space to social distance. Between a margarita and corona, an appetizer and three entrees it was maybe 70 dollars. Poquitos is an interesting spot and we did enjoy our meal and time here, we did have a good group outing and the prime spot on capitol hill which is worth something. While the gauc was top notch incredibly fresh and we thoroughly enjoyed the salsa trio. I was surprised that you do have to pay for chips and salsa but this was a cut above the normal free ones you get at other places. The star was the toasted tomatillo-serrano we had to get a second order of the salsa because we liked it so much. We were intrigued by the Chapulines - grasshopper's sautéed in sea lime salt, we got them and were a bit surprised by the fact there is not really a distinct flavor to them and they had just taken the powerful seasoning with a bit of a crunch. I noticed they had Baja fish tacos on the lunch menu so I was sold on the fact that it was Mahi Mahi based hit the spot. The meat was well seasoned grilled perfectly and had loads of garnishing for a crisp fresh finish. I did trade a fish taco for a carnitas and that was very good as well but not earth shattering but very good once you have had a few drinks in you. We did enjoy our time with friends the staff were friendly and accommodating. The drinks were good as they have to be with the with the quality of bars in this neighborhood.
