Our last night of vacation we came to Poquitos for dinner. We had a group of seven and the experience was great! We enjoyed the guacamole and salsa trio as appetizers. Everyone liked the different levels of heat, texture and taste. Two of us had the Poquitos Margarita, delicious! I'm a rocks girl when it comes to that drink. My friend had a Chilcano, a Peruvian mule. I ordered the Chicken Enchilada Suiza. Yummy! My table companions ordered burritos and tacos which they all enjoyed. We had vegetarians with us and they were surprised at the selection available and remarked how tasty their food was. As a table we shared Buñuelos and Churros for dessert. The restaurant is located in the bustling Capitol Hill neighborhood. The staff was pleasant and welcoming. The decor is beautiful. If we find ourselves in the area again, this will be a must. read more

If I could give half of a star I would. My fiance and I stopped by for a quick bite and drink. We passed by this place and it seemed super chill and cool vibes and they had an amazing bar. We ordered 2 micheladas and they were really good. So shout out to the bartender. We then tried to order food and had a few questions about the menu. I am not sure do I like this place or not, but it's decent. The salsa Trio is pretty goood for pico and that read salsa, I like the Smokey flavor. The green salsa is so so so sour! The chips are cold, not even room temperature. The chicken tacos were okay. I don't know what it is about the bartenders in this place, but the last 3 times I've been, I've had to send my drink back. And then they fuck with you when you ask to remake. Ordered a ranch water, which is topo chico and tequila, with a lime wedge. They brought me a sparkling margarita, made with the worst tequila I've ever had. So I sent it back. A ranch water is the easiest drink in the bar! The drink I got back? Coconut rum. I see what you did, you're being cheeky because you're mad I sent your terrible drink back. Imagine if I had a coconut allergy. I do have a severe nut allergy, which luckily for you does not include coconut. The staff proceeded to have a conversation within earshot about it, mocking, laughing. God forbid you have to do your job! That's literally the service industry. They still charged me for both drinks, and the Casamigos in the second one even though I got coconut rum??? Don't come here to have drinks. Point blank period. Poquitos - How not to make a ranch water - Mexican Near Me - Seattle, Washington

My friend treated me out for a belated birthday dinner. We chose this place because it had outdoor seating with heaters. I ordered the Caldo de Res (Mexican beef soup) (+$18) which came with a side of rice and tacos; I've never seen it on other menus and so I decided to give it a try. My friend ordered the fish tacos (+$15), grilled, with salsa on the side. Her dish also came with a side of rice and beans. We got our food within 15 minutes of ordering. Our server was also very friendly and came over to check on us several times. The Caldo de Res was steaming when it came out, but I think because it was 40 degrees outside and so it appeared than it was. I thought the soup would be more savory, but it was tangier than I would've preferred. I felt like I was drinking hot lime juice with the slightest spiciness. The beef was tender, but I had a couple pieces of inedible fat in my soup. While it had all the authentic ingredients minus the potato, corn, and jalapeño (at least according to All Recipes), I thought the ratio of cabbage to other vegetables was overwhelming. I liked that the carrots were cut into chunks, giving it a hearty texture. The side of rice was tasty; my friend and I agreed that it had good taste and did not have an overly strong tomato taste. However, parts of the rice were undercooked and thus crunchy. The outdoor patio is covered with a plastic tarp and thus you can there during the rain or shine. They have seating for about 5 tables of 4-6. While they have outdoor heaters, they have to keep the heat pretty low as to not melt the plastic decorations they have hanging from the ceiling. To be honest, I was fairly cold still and so make sure to bundle up if you're sitting outdoors! Overall: 3/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 3/5 for atmosphere read more

The best Mexican food I have had in Seattle! I came here to meet with a visiting friend and her husband for lunch. Even though it was a Friday, it was relatively busy! However, we were seated quickly and placed our orders soon after. I love how vegetarian friendly the options were, and that there were different variations! This definitely made it much easier for my vegetarian friend. We started off with Kale and Mushroom Nachos to share - and let me just say, they were incredible. I was skeptical about kale in Mexican food, but they blended in with the rest of the flavors easily, and actually added an additional texture that fit so well. They were extremely generous with cheese and guacamole so that every chip had enough. For our entrees, my friend got to pick between cauliflower and kale/mushroom tacos, which meant that she didn't have the same flavor twice. I ordered the shrimp tacos, and it was so worth it. The shrimp was crispy, flavorful, and not greasy from the frying at all. The soft and sweet tomatoes complemented the slightly crunchy lettuce perfectly. Plus, with the cilantro lime cream sauce, each bite was a flavor explosion. Plus, they came with rice and beans, and I ended up having leftovers for the evening! I had a phenomenal time and am so glad I came by! I will absolutely choose here any time I crave Mexican from now on. read more

We were walking through Capitol Hill when we ran across Poquitos. It's a very well decorated restaurant with excellent music. We stopped by for more of a happy-hour styled visit. They have an indoor and outdoor seating option (with more limited seating outdoors). You can also reserve your spot through OpenTable. We ordered an horchata (non-alcoholic), a Caipirinha (alcoholic) and the Tres Amigos which was chips & 3 different kinds of dips. It was a yummy combo. Staff was attentive and we got our orders quick. Check out their website for specials on Mezcal Mondays and Tequila Tuesdays! A cute spot for Mexican eats nestled into the heart of Cap Hill -- it's always bustlin' and poppin' every time I walk by but the wait for a table usually doesn't take long. The staff are super fun and nice and the food here is tasty! I love the kale mushroom tacos -- it's a really filling vegetarian option which is still super flavorful and also really unique! All of the drinks I've gotten here have been great, personal favorites including the mezcal and margaritas. A really fun atmosphere and good food, so I'll be back soon! read more

The downfall of these tacos are also what draws people in. These tacos are INCREDIBLY crushable. I could easily have 2-3 servings in a heartbeat. My wife and I stumbled across this spot while looking for food in Capital Hill and I'm thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff were attentive despite it being a very busy Sunday afternoon. Food is 10/10. My only complaint is that I left wanting more. The chips come with a trio of salsa's none of which are too spicy but offer a very nice freshness. My wife and I got a set of Taco's each, barbacoa for her and Al Pastor for me. They were so good that we refused to share with each other. I'm a huge sucker for Al Pastor tacos, something about grilled pork topped with pineapple just hits different and theirs did not disappoint. And if you needed any more freshness the tacos come with a side of Mango Habanero sauce that brings a crazy amount of heat (so be ready!!!). read more

I walked in on a Saturday late afternoon and was greeted with friendly faces. I sat at the bar and noticed the overhanging lights that made the atmosphere very welcoming and comforting. This is actually a 3.5 star review. Our waiters (one was training) were cute and friendly. They were out of Mexican Coke but had regular available, so no biggie. We ordered the $8 guacamole, and I was shocked at the small size--that you had to stir yourself as the cilantro and onions were sprinkled on top. It was bland and definitely not worth $8. Enjoyed my meal here with family. I got the tortilla soup. It is a very large bowl, and incredibly flavorful. Good balances of flavors, and the tortilla strips stayed relatively crunchy during my meal. My wife got chicken tinga street tacos. They were good as well. A nice flavor profile. I tried some and liked it immensely. My brother and sister in-law each got the fish tacos, grilled. They use mahi mahi. The flavor was amazing. I got to eat one and almost regretted getting my soup. They offer chips and salsa as an appetizer, not complimentary like some other places. That said, their salsas are amazing. They offer a habanero salsa that has some serious kick. I liked it. Stopped by on a weeknight and we were able to be seated without a wait. We had a great server, who was attentive and prompt. For food, we started off with chips and guac, which were a bit bland. We also shared fish tacos, which were really flavorful and probably the highlight of our dinner. My boyfriend got a steak burrito, which he liked. I got the Yucatan chicken, which I felt like was under seasoned and dry. The plus side is HUGE portion sizes. For drinks, we got the seasonal slushee, which was a raspberry daiquiri and the pina colada slushee and we both really liked our drinks. Simply put: worth a visit! The huevos rancheros were delicious and flavorful, but a bit soupy. I ordered the entree with over easy eggs, chorizo, and tomatillo/green sauce. The chorizo came ground and was the best chorizo I have had in some time, despite the lack of spice or heat. In hindsight, an extra side of chips would have been perfect to scoop up the remaining meat/sauces off the plate. Chopped salad was super light and fresh. I like the ambiance and seating but the food is expensive and mediocre . 15$ drinks ick. Chicken tinga tacos were dry and they only came on one tortilla each which made them fall apart. The salsas weren't good at all , mostly sweet with no heat. Being charged for salsa and chips is crappy . Oh well . I have tried a few things on the menu but they are over priced in my opinion, ($17 for barbacoa tacos) the food is really bland and not exciting at all, for sure would not recommend entrees from here. The appetizers are decent but still missing a lot of flavor, just not compatible with my taste buds really. The food was good. The experience lack luster. We had a large group and called ahead to ask some specifics prior to our visit which is why we chose our restaurant. I believe our waiters name was AC or some similar two letter initial. His vibe was off, he came off as rude and not wanting to work with a large party, when he was lied up to the table he started off by telling us what he wouldn't do. He was decent to once side of the table but not the other, he wouldn't allow certain people to put orders in but let other do so. When confronted about his behavior he told my friend he was projecting. It was a unique experience to say the least we thought we were being punked, the manager came over after another friend complained but he wasn't super helpful he helped out for a short period of time then left. I'm not saying I wouldn't go back but I would be cautious if I were to receive that same waiter, I would ask for someone different. read more

Poquitos is a great spot for the vibes and the drinks (and in this case, chips and guacamole). Their margaritas are pretty and colorful and tasty. I usually always sit out on the covered back patio bar section, where there are fires and cool looking wrought iron fencing. The food is meh, and always comes out suspiciously fast. I think this is a great spot for happy hour or pre-dinner drinks, but I'd most always recommend grabbing dinner elsewhere --and there are tons of options around. read more

Came on a early Friday night and it wasn't as busy but surely the crowd trickled in around dinner time. They have lots of seating and space. Even one of those fire pit bar tables on the far side. We started off getting the Miami vice cocktail which was delicious, if it weren't so cold I would have ordered Atleast another two drinks. I was so pleasantly surprised by Poquitos!!! Coming from LA, I have been constantly disappointed with Mexican food in Seattle. But I was super happy with my order here!! I had two spicy margaritas that had heavy tequila pours and they were not too sweet! To start, we ordered the chips and salsa as well as the queso. I would skip the salsa - it was pretty bland and that's the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars. The queso was SO good though! I would have ordered 2 of these. For my main, I ordered an Al pastor burrito. It was totally stuffed with meat and lasted me two full meals! The meat had lots of flavor and the tortilla held up well. Poquitos seems to be the happening spot for rowdy game viewings and nights of chips and liquor. My friends and I stopped by here as we were going through out evening adventures for a drink, and I ended up having a great time. Sitting at the bar got us really good service that ended up making the experience. I asked our bartender what was their seasonal margarita and he informed us that it was an apple cider based cocktail, and even said he'd be able to alter the strength of the drink based on my tastes. When he mixed it for us, it was definitely a stiff pour that I appreciated. I ended up ordering another just because he made it that well. We were even served complimentary chips and salsa which kept on coming even though we had only ordered drinks. For a busy Friday evening, sitting at the bar and getting this 1:1 service was the best. All dishes are served with black beans and rice cooked in rice oil. Very accommodating for vegans and even more o for vegetarians. The have great signature craft cocktails including their frose I'm a very big fan of. Best part of all is you seat yourself. Went in here during lunch during our trip to Seattle. Spacious ambience and the bar area has a animated skeleton. We were a party of 6 and started with drinks, chips & salsa and guac. The chips and pico de gallo were fresh. When we got the second batch of chips we could tell it wasn't the same and the server quickly got us a fresh batch. The huge disappointment was the menu. There was a separate menu for brunch and lunch (i think I'm still confused with the menu fiasco) and only either of them was available. Most of us were vegetarian and had a really hard time trying to order a decent vegetarian entree. Ended up getting something just because it was the only option. We had amazing food and a variety of quality tequilas to choose from. I tried the Tequila Fortaleza for the first time, and it was just amazing to say the least. The service was on point and the staff are very well trained and extremely knowledgeable about tequila and mezcal. The romantic dark ambiance adds to the experience.
