Great work. We needed a new railing for a recently redone roof deck. Georgio was very nice to work with, did a great job and finished well ahead of time. He was also very creative in finding solutions for some of the challenges of our particular deck, including installing special brackets to resolve a placement issue. I had to take a moment to rave and review Giorgio of Porfi Iron works. First, the fact that he answered the call. How many times have we reached out to vendors and no one answers or even gives the courtesy of a return call? I explained my situation with my iron gates, he said shoot me a text with some pictures so i can see and i will send you a quote. I did so and within 24 hours i received a quote (very reasonable i might add). So we moved forward and scheduled an appointment. But wait it gets better. The day of the appointment, i had a family emergency and had to leave (prior to Giorgio arriving) i called him on my way to the hospital, he said "no problem" deal with your family and i will take care of it. A friend met him at my home to give him access and in a couple of hours the work was finished and the gates look spectacular and work like new. I can vouch for the fact that he is understanding, professional and above board. Definitely will call him again and refer him to anyone that needs great quality work done. I am super happy with the project Giorgio and his team just completed for me. I recently purchased an apartment building with iron stairs and porches. When they were constructed, the metal wasn't properly prepared and the whole structure had significant rust, including some stair treads with holes in them and many of the railings were wobbly. Giorgio came out and reviewed the job, discussed how he would like to address the issues and provided a fair price quote and project duration. He kept me informed as the project progressed, his team did beautiful work and the project turned out beyond my expectations. Giorgio and his team recently completed a major external stair project for our condo building in Old Town. The stairs and catwalks in the inner courtyard of our 4-story building were in terrible disrepair and the management company had gotten bids for the work that seemed ridiculously high (we later found out that the mgmt company was inflating bids and skimming off the top). So our board decided to take matters into our own hands and searched Yelp! for different contractors. Giorgio was super-professional, did some creative trouble-shooting to find ways to repair the crumbling concrete and rusted, corroding iron and was the first of three contractors to get back to us with a bid. His price was very reasonable and he stuck to it even when he found that some areas required more work than he originally anticipated. I'd give Giorgio 5 stars for himself....he's a pleasure to work with and is 100% committed to pleasing any customer who's capable of being pleased. He's a hard worker and takes great pride in the quality of his work. I'm giving 4 stars only because the project took longer than expected and there were a few bumps along the way, and the site could have been kept neater during the construction period. In the end, the stairs and catwalks are beautiful and our entire building was so thrilled with them, we voted to invest in beautiful planters to hang on the renovated project and even started having our condo board meetings and social gatherings in the courtyard to enjoy the improvements. After coming home from vacation to see someone had clipped our iron fence to reach in and unlock the back gate door we were on the search for someone to help repair it. I found Giorgio on Yelp and contacted him via email. He responded back super quick and said he was available. He came out the next day and gave us an estimate which was very reasonable! 3 days later he installed an awesome iron plate! Giorgio responded quickly to my initial proposal request, and he delivered a quote that was less than any other bidder. I hired him based on those facts and his previous 5 star reviews, however his work was not 5 stars. We asked Giorgio to rebuild a back fence and install a motorized gate opener. Giorgio took longer to complete the job than he had originally proposed. He waited until the very end of the job to remove the demo'd gate- which was an absolute mess in our back yard, and despite the fact that we repeatedly requested he remove the debris. He measured the job incorrectly, so we can't use our pedestrian gate when our vehicle gate is open. He installed the gate without the electric safety eye, and when we pointed this out to him, he claimed that the motor didn't come with that feature. We had to remind him that the function was requested in our original request AND his proposal, and then miraculously he found the electric eye function in the motor box. There were other little issues during the course of our 3 week project, but too minor to list. The epic embarrassment continues, as the motorized function continues to falter, and now Giorgio's response time is not as quick. We spoke on a Thursday, and he agreed to look at our issues the following day. And then he never showed and never called. Today, Saturday, I had my last interaction with Giorgio, when he told me that he didn't show up on Friday because of the rain (that began after 4PM). My wife stayed at home all day waiting for him, and he never called. His work was unreliable, and his schedule is unreliable.
