Updating from a 2015 review. We noted how much we loved the atmosphere in the 10 years...well now it's been 20 years that we make a point to dine here, specifically on our anniversary. It's where we dined on our honeymoon and we'll be coming back for years to come. We stopped in a couple of times on this trip. The good - The smokehouse food is just what it should be! I mean, we really love this food. The first Cherry Old Fashioned. Made with care and good ingredients. The Meh - The service on Taco Tuesday. It felt understaffed and the server commented, "at least I'm not alone tonight". Very telling The Bad - The second Cherry Old Fashioned on a different night. Not good. It was Taco Tuesday and the Smokehouse felt understaffed. The drinks were just slammed together. read more

I ordered nachos, thought that was a safe bet! Supposed to be smoked chicken and cheese sauce. These were honestly the worst nachos I've ever had. The fresh chips were nice and the pico was good but the combo of veiny, bony chunks of dry chicken with the sweet BBQ sauce and sour "cheese" made it inedible. I really wanted to like this place it's a great location and fun drive, the patio was beautiful, great beer selection and the service was excellent. Maybe the nachos are just a bad item and they have other good stuff. I wouldn't give it another try unless to grab a beer. read more

One of my favorite patios in the area. The bison short rib was absolutely fantastic--tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The service was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff making the experience even better. Highly recommend this gem for a great dining experience! read more

Went there today.Never been there. First time going to eat there. Looked on line it said open at 4:00 pm.I drove 30 miles to get there.was there about 15 minutes before they open .4 o clock comes I call .I was told were not open.Having a employee party.Witch is good.At least put on your web.so people don't drive for 40 minutes. read more

We stopped at this local place for a drink and apps! Cute little place nice outside seating. They had different local beers and mixed cocktails on the menu. First of all in MY OPINION only if I don't smell the fresh smell of bbq smoke or even a hint of smoke in my opinion then most likely the meat is not fresh smoked barbecue. The ribs were not like any other St.Louis Style ribs I have had before, a lot smaller and not much meat. They tasted left over and not fresh as if they were cooked that day. They were hard, dry and lukewarm as if they were pulled out of a warmer or microwave. The sliced brisket was good and also very tender but again also didn't taste freshly cooked. The baked beans were black, over done and dried out. I could not eat them. However the coleslaw and bbq sauce were both good. The ambiance was nice and the waitresses and service was great. Even though it sounds like I'm bashing the place I'm only rating the food that I ordered. The other entree's may taste delicious. If you don't mind if your bbq is fresh or not then you should not let my opinion dictate your decision. read more

I'm in the Flathead Lake area for a business trip and wanted something to eat that wasn't pizza--for some reason there are lots of pizza places around here. The first place I stopped at was closed for renovations. That was a good thing or I might have missed the East Shore Smoke House. The decor is rustic and lovely--I'm was there in off season so the place was nearly empty. I ordered the combo minus ribs, and they let me swap in extra veggies which made me very happy. The waitress was super friendly and efficient. I can imagine what a fun spot this is in season too, and recommend you stop in. read more

On an escape from the Seattle, we craved a steak. We stopped by the East ashore Smoke House for a ribeye and adult beverages. To my surprise, I found some Belgian beers that I really enjoyed. The steak was well cooked (medium) and the cut of meat was well-marbelled with no gristle. The sides were equally delicious. To top off the meal, I enjoyed a Belgian chocolate mousse. I'm a fan of dark chocolate and this hit the spot. read more

Great outdoor seating. Get there early to make sure you have the full menu available to you. We got there later in the evening and didn't get a chance to try their chipotle chicken. First of all the appearance is great! Welcoming atmosphere and great outdoor space the owners must take pride in the facade! - The food is decent but way too over priced for what it is. - The waitress we had was Cheryl and I was told she was the owners daughter. Please fire her or have her in the back of the house busing tables. The bartender had to bring my drink after I asked another waitress to check at the bar, since 15 min had passed since she took my order. Here's the best part we finished our meals at 7:35 pm and it's now 8:17 pm and I still have yet to receive my card and bill back..... She obviously should not be a waitress and you will lose patrons for poor service, even if you had amazing food which is not the case. - So, good food at best, plus horrible service, equals horrible ratings and myself and anyone I know will never return or come here because word of mouth makes or breaks an establishment. People read yelp and I know they will appreciate my honesty. Ask for Lizzy or Krystal if you want good service! I can't believe I have waited so long to write another review of the East Shore Smoke House. OMG, this place is so good! Everything I have ate here is great, I mean everything! Eating outside is wonderful and the fresh air is nice considering the pandemic and all. I had the Prime Rib Stroganoff for the first time and am wondering how I have missed it all these years?!?! Savory goodness that makes you say NOM NOM! My friends wanted to try the housemade chips with spinach dip and salsa, we did, and ended up ordering 3 baskets of the darn things! I would recommend reservations and run don't walk getting there! You will love it! read more

Omg! Our first time here and it won't be our last! I had the prime rib stroganoff and it was so flavorful and the perfect size. Hubby had the burger which was yummy and our friend had the prime rib which was excellent! We shared their signature bread pudding for dessert and it was the best dessert I have ever eaten! Oh my gosh. My last review 1 1/2 years ago was pretty harsh. Since they are so close to my house, I decided to give them another try and WO GLAD I DID!! It was a super quiet night. Our waitress doubled as the bartender. She was super kind and helpful. The owner even stepped out and introduced himself. The food was delicious. Great blue cheese dressing and the smoked ribs were amazing. Smoked, not baked with liquid smoke. Delicious flavor. Generous pour on the cocktail. I will definitely be back!!! PS. Probably won't go here again. Too bad too as it used to be great. 70 minutes to get a plate of stroganoff that had too much pepper in it and a brisket sandwich that was served with out bbq sauce. We asked and was brought some but thought the oversights and there were others (like waters ran dry and couldn't get refilled - didn't ask) were how "new" would perform. Maybe they were "new", who knows. This place used to rock the bbq but now, not so much according to me. They were going to comp us desserts as amends for the 70 minute wait but we aren't dessert people. They did knock 20% off the check. We left 18% tip as we felt sorry for our server. On the quiet east side of flathead lake lies The East Shore smoke House. It was a rainy Monday evening so I couldn't sit in the front porch or back patio as are my normal preferences. This time I opted for the bar seating and the server/bartender took good care of me. I started with a cold smoke, a green salad and a side of house made blue cheese dressing. The main course was a prime rib dip. The prime rib was smoky and flavorful and the Au Jus was very umami and savory. It was a good size and I was hungry...but I saved a bit of room for desert. Came here for my birthday/Mother's Day dinner. It was also prom night so it was fairly busy. Our table of 4 made our choices but were told they were out of brisket which was what 3 of us wanted. We could substitute chicken or pork for the same price. This seemed strange since brisket is more expensive on the menu. Not sure why on the "hungry man" it wouldn't be a tad less with no brisket. Anyway, they ordered that meal with the substitution. It arrived with no corn bread. After bringing it to someone's attention the bread was brought. Food was great otherwise. Love the bbq sauce. Had mixed experience. We obviously had a new waitress because our drinks took forever to arrive. One of our party ordered a Caesar salad and they delivered a regular salad with Caesar dressing. This place knows how to cook a steak... The sauces however are confusing. I ordered a steak Diane and got a bordilane sauce. Staff was friendly but nothing but an apology for the mixup. I can't really complain because the flavor was excellent! Asparagus was woody and the baby potatoes were disappointing. Both of the desserts we wanted were not available. Settled for the check. We have been going here for many years. Even had our wedding reception here. We will not be back until we hear they have dramatically improved. The service was good and the drink selection remains good. It remains a nice location with a great patio. The food is so bad, though, that the good points cannot nearly overcome it. I had the smoked chicken breast, which was obviously not smoked. Embarrassingly obvious, especially for a place called the Smokehouse. The bbq sauce it was covered set my mouth on fire. I understand bbq sauce comes in many forms, but to have one make you sweat without warning is a bit off putting. My wife had the brisket which she described as a travesty. It was not juicy, or flexible. Resembled and tasted more like a roast beef. Again this place is called the Smokehouse. My sister's prime rib was dry. Mom's Caesar salad had cherry tomatoes on it, which was odd, obviously store bought croutons and chopped lettuce. Incredibly bland and seemingly created with no effort. With tip, the meal was over $200, which was absurdly overpriced for the quality. I write this review in hopes that current ownership will see it, and work to return to the Smokehouse to what it once was, a place the serves well made bbq alongside other interesting meals, with quality ingredients. read more
