Haven't been to this area in a few years and as a habit I always Yelp for new BBQ spots and I'm glad that I did. This place is a little difficult to find, I drove right by it thinking it was a just a gas station but obviously it's not, they both share the building, I'll know better next time. I got the brisket sandwich with of his two peanut butter cookies and some chips. What an amazing gentleman he is, we chewed the fat as he got my grub together and it was a great experience being able to talk with a like minded individual. There's not really a spot to sit and eat inside but he does have several picnic tables outside and across the street are some beautiful flowers to gawk at as you bring the pain to some great barbecue. I can't wait to come back and try his pulled pork.

Food's terrible. Ambiance is hostile. Very unfriendly place for an average customer passing through. Food was dry and flavorless too.

They have a great selection of menu items. Their beer, wine & cocktail list was very well rounded. The interior is decorated in a warm eclectic theme. I just grabbed a beer. I settled on a Moroccan lamb over noodles but was surprised when I was served a small soup bowl of stew. It had a 1-2 Tbs of clear celluphane noddles at the bottom. While it was solidly good, It was $14- which I found to be exorbitant for the item & serving size. It didn't even come with bread of any kind. I then ordered a house made pretzel $10- which came in a single braided format 10-12 inches long. It arrived with 2 ramekins of cheese sauce & stone ground mustard. I opted for the mustard. I did not care for the cheese sauce. It was okay but I was definitely not bowled over by it. Overall, I just wasn't too impressed with this place. The service was solidly good. The vibe & interior is solidly good. The food was fine but not great. I felt the prices for the items were just too high. They do have a happy hour with a burger & a beer for $12-? I can't actually remember the exact price). I recommend coming for their happy hour when prices are more reasonable.

I'm almost 50 and live on the West Coast so for my summer sabbatical a stay and a meal was a dream come true and on it's 250th birthday too! The Stay : Check in was easy and the front desk staff gave my boyfriend and I a full folder of facts and information on what to do at the inn and beyond. We also secured reservations for dinner later. We had a lovely corner room on the third floor. The bed was high but comfortable and modernized in the sense that the AC unit worked well and so did the wifi. The bathroom was probably the weakest point - small and not great water pressure but hello you are in the oldest continuously run inn in the US. There are many charming nooks and crannies including adjacent sitting rooms and outdoor rocking chairs. The Meal : 7:30 Dinner reservation and we were seated right away in the back dining area where we were surrounded by images of boats and ships. It was busy but the service was prompt and attentive. The bread was warm and yummy. I had a delicious bowl of New England Clam Chowder and the grilled pork chop off the summer menu. It was so delicious and filling that even though I really wanted dessert , I couldn't fit any more. My boyfriend's prime rib was fall off the bone tender. When we left the tavern was full because it was Sea Shanty night! Cannot wait to make visiting an adult tradition.

My wife and I have wanted to try The Griswold Inn for many years, and our schedule finally allowed…read moreus to make the trip ahead of a nearby show. Reservations via OpenTable were easy. When we arrived at the hostess station, she verified the reservation and immediately led us to a table in a small room off the main dining area and bar. The entire dining area is old wood -- floor, wall, ceiling -- and the room we were in had narrow floor-to-ceiling bookcases filled with hardcover books. I write this to demonstrate that all the decor served to dampen the sound despite nearly all tables being occupied. While you could hear the bustle and conversations around you, you could still have a conversation. Our server greeted us promptly and took a drink order. When he returned with our drinks, we ordered the clam chowder and braised short ribs for my wife and a wedge salad with the dry-rubbed pork chop for me. After entering our order, our server returned with a basket of warm dinner rolls and butter, then minutes later brought out our soup and salad. Both appetizers were terrific, and I think that may be one of the best blue cheese dressings I've had. Water glasses were refilled frequently without being asked and dishes were cleared by other waitstaff. We never wanted for anything, and none of the comings and goings were disruptive. This was a professional and competent team. Our entrees were served shortly after we finished our appetizers, and they were beautifully presented on the plates. My wife loved her short ribs, which she said melted in her mouth. Until this meal, I've yet to find pork chops to surpass the ones I make at home, but this was truly exceptional! While the mango salsa topping the chop was nice, it was completely unnecessary as the chop was well seasoned and juicy. We capped off the meal with desserts, a chocolate mousse pie for my wife, a warm butter caramel cake with berry compote for me. Delicious! We'll be back to this gem of a place!

The food was amazing. I loved it. Our parents loved it. Literally everyone I talked to love it. Everything was fresh, perfectly prepared, and delicious. One of the highlights of the first day of married life was devouring the leftovers (yes, they help you package those to take them home - you paid for them, after all!). I honestly can't pick one aspect of our menu that trumped the others, it was all so delightful. The appetizers were great, the main course (we did a buffet) was amazing, and the desserts (we had an assortment) were splendid. Second, the staff. Everyone that worked on our reception was great. Erin's clear communication made planning everything a breeze, and Desiree's oversight ensured that everything went smoothly during the event. Cloud Nine will transport a set amount of materials to the venue for you (we had them transport our table numbers and runners). The Ellie Mitchell Pavilion has a super strict timeline, so this was a huge help. Being that its a historic building, the Pavilion also has really strict rules about where, how, and when the food can be prepared. Cloud Nine takes all of that in stride every time they cater an event there, and made sure everything was executed in compliance with the policies. Knowing I was in such good hands took a huge amount of stress off of me during that day! Third, the staff again. This was huge. During the reception, Cloud Nine puts someone in charge of making sure the bride and groom has all the food and drink they need during photos, etc before the entrance. AMAZING. This meant that we actually got to enjoy the delicious appetizers, rather than having to miss out. It also meant that we got to enjoy a beverage and take a minute to relax! Fourth, the pricing. Catering a large event is never very economical, regardless of who caters it. I think that Cloud Nine offers an amazing service at a very reasonable price. In addition, Erin was incredibly accommodating in creating a menu that not only covered all of the food and drink we wanted, but also fit within our budget. Honestly, I have nothing but glowing reviews of Cloud Nine catering. I wish that we didn't live in CA and could stop by their cafe for a bite to eat! Our experience with them was amazing, and I highly recommend them.
