After lining up a sale With John Bassett of a bmw x5, he claimed he would be able to place temp tag on vehicle and deliver for me to Malibu since I was out of town. After wire transfer of the exact amount agreed upon, I waited days to hear back from John. Instead I got an invoice emailed to me that there was an added Fee he failed to disclose. When I called back to discuss how he failed to properly invoice the vehicle for I got Aaron Zellinski the GM on the phone. Aaron claimed there would be no temp tag for vehicle, and no delivery without charge for transportation. At this point he had reneged on every promise that internet sale manager John Bassett had made. Aaron then offered to cancel the whole deal because while I was paying retail for the bmw in cash, he was not getting all his typical "kickbacks". Aaron explained that he receives kickbacks from the finance companies and kickbacks from the aftermarket warranty companies and since I was paying cash, he would rather cancel the retail sale because of not receiving the "kickbacks". I had to explain that much as I was sorry about his failure to get his "kickbacks", there was not much I could do about that. Aaron finally agreed to waive the extra fees that were not agreed upon and he offered to pay for HALF the transportation cost. Aaron entered the car into the transportation system for pick up, but since he was paying for half the cost, I think he entered a really low price for the transportation offer. 4 days later and not a single company had offered to pick bmw up for transportation. I had to hire and pay a driver to drive rental car from Malibu to Monterey and then drive Bmw back to Malibu. When I complained about how none of the sale agreement points were kept and how they had my money for a week and a half with no delivery, Aaron again stated he would rather refund my money and cancel a retail sale because he was not getting enough "kickbacks". All in all, worst car buyieng experience ever, these are the sorts of people who created the whole "used car salesperson are total scum persona". Aaron and John bring all Porsche dealerships to their level of crookedness and the whole state of California down with duplicity and corruption. read more

Stay away. Greed runs this place. You will not get Porsche experience here. Found the right car for me. Whoever was shopping for a cpo Porsche knows how much time it takes to find the right one. Trying to reach out to John Basset (internet sales) on Monday (04/22/19), tell him that I like the car and want to buy it, would appreciate a better deal. He tells me he will be back to work on Wednesday and we will take it from there. Wednesday comes, nobody calls me, I had to call him, send a text and only after sending email he finally gets back to me. Turns out he is not at the dealer on Wednesday as well. I'm asking him if I should work with somebody else from his dealership if he's not available, he says everything is fine and tomorrow he is back. Wednesday evening comes and the car is gone from their website. On Thursday morning John calls me and says that car was sold some time ago and he doesn't know why it was listed. Lies! Jun, his colleague, was calling me on Monday saying that the car is still available. So the car was actually sold on Wednesday, but John's greed didn't let him be a decent person. All he had to do is to tell me to work with any other salesperson from his dealer, I even asked him about that. To conclude this review, if you don't want to miss your car, you don't want to be lied to, you want Porsche experience and you don't want to experience someone's greed just STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

Just had an exhaust and new throttle body and Plenum installed on my Porshe Cayman S. They did a fantastic job, sounds amazing and I can't get the smile off my face as I accelerate at every light. I was particularly impressed that the Porsche Technician (Jeremiah)was willing to take the time to bring me back and look at my car being worked on and explained how things are done. You can see an extreme attention to detail and you can eat off the floors in the service area. As a person that it attentive to detail, this is very much appreciated. I wish I could give less than 1 star for Porsche of Monterey customer service. What an abtsolute nightmare in terms of customer service. The service department had the opportunity to appraise, fix and detail my 2011 Cayenne which took them 11 days, yes 11 days to complete. Here are my top 4 concerns and reasons why my experience was one you can expect to be TERRIBLE: 1. I placed calls to find out the status to only be put on hold for 30 minutes; to only be told, they have no information and that they are short staffed. SORRY 2. When I did call in, they had the car under the previous owners name even though I corrected the change when dropping the car off. - nice customer service! 3. I asked for a detail (wax,wash, interior cleaning) to be completed on my vehicle which never was completed. 4. Dropped off 2 keys to have the batteries replace, when picking up the vehicle only 1 key was given back. I had to request the second key. Say far away from Monterey Porsche. Big thanks to Paul, Josh, and John for getting my car back on the road. Put the top down on Monday, and it would not close, tried all the normal stuff, manual override system and no response from the top decided this was not a normal situation called John and he allowed me to drop the car off before the rain started. Paul confirmed that something had really gone wrong in the top, after a few hours he managed to finally get it open, not an easy manual override, turns out the main hinge pivot for the top had fractured and was loose. They managed to track down the parts, and had it back in operation in a few days. Thank you so much for your expertise. I highly recommend having all work done by the pros at Porsche Monterey. They have serviced this car for all maintenance and have really gone above and beyond taking on this unusual problem, after asking around It appears this is a very rare problem, and being that the car has been so bullet proof all these years really surprised me that this would happen. We bought our new 2017 Cayenne S this last August. The car is fantastic and after months of trying to decide what to replace our 15 BMW X5 with, we are really happy we chose the Cayenne. Living in San Luis Obispo is 2 hrs south to Santa Barbara Porsche or 2 hours North to Porsche of Monterey. We had been to the Santa Barbara dealership being they also are Land Rover and Audi dealers which were other brands we were considering. They had a very fancy building. We are so happy that we found Porsche of Monterey! They are nestled in a really cool area north of downtown Monterey called Seaside. Not only does this area have every dealership imaginable but the area is also surrounded by an intermixed with specialty custom car shops in a quintessential old school California beach town. It's like Redondo/ Manhattan Beach circa 1970's 80's. What I noticed first about Porsche of Monterey is the number of cars they had, which wasn't true of the other lots I had visited. They have done something interesting which is along with their allocation of the latest and greatest they also carry a large selection of CPO (certified pre-owned) Porsche, as well as other exotic super cars. Mixed in is also a hand full of extremely good examples of vintage Porsche displayed excellently on the showroom floor and priced quite reasonably. Enough of the boring fluff of the everyday transaction. What I'd like to highlight is what makes any business great and worthy of 5 stars, it's how they not just treat a customer in the romance stage of the deal but how one handles themselves after the deal and especially after a deal that doesn't go as smoothly as anyone world like on either end. This was the case with our transaction. Our transaction had some hiccups to say the least, more like a series of follies that brought frustrations high and tested patients for us and the team at Porsche of Monterey. These weren't the trivial things like " my service took a day longer than I thought " or " I can't believe they didn't have the part I needed in stock" that are uncontrolled inconveniences, but more of problems that deteriorated the gaps between value to us, sale price and cost to dealer and the nuts and bolts of business, the sale. There's no need to go into details other than my wife and I were faced with a huge inconvenience traveling from out of town, and Porsche of Monterey was also at a loss having to come out of their profits having to cover the discovery of damages not found during PDI ( post delivery inspection) and then while sorting that out the discovery of lot damage. like I said it was a series of follies causing my wife and I the inconvenience of a return trip and costs like fuel, food and hotel not to mention time which is of higher value than than rest and I assume any profit Porsche of Monterey had to make in the car. This is where the true test of a solid 5 star review comes from. Porsche of Monterey earns 5 stars not for making us happy with the usual easy smooth transaction of a car that of coarse is above all others, that's to easy and what any dealership can do. They earn 5 stars for digging deep and being professional when it wasn't easy. Being kind and courteous, filling out tank and detailing our car. In my opinion true grit when and where it counts when things are tough. I recommend to anyone in the market for a Porsche to seek out Ray in sales and feel confident his managers Tripp and Aaron will give him the latitude he needs to make the experience great. It's not normal to have to be in service so soon but being that for us this was the case they made an exception to make it as painless as possible and had a service tech come in on Saturday. Being a quite day I got to look over the techs shoulder a little. Alonso was not only super friendly but his knowledge of the car and it's systems was amazing. He could tell I was curious so while working explained what he was doing and why without missing a beat. It was impressive to watch someone so comfortable with such complex machinery. read more

I went in here to buy a smart car, but when I drove it home the battery was way low and it wont charge I tried to call them but they wouldn't give me an answer other than "call the dealership they'll tell you how to charge it" um I bought the car from you, shouldn't you know? also I mentioned to them I commute to work 30 miles to work and 30 miles back home they also failed to mention it only drives 68 MILES ON A FULL CHARGE AND TAKES 7 HOURS TO FULLY CHARGE! how could they try to sell me this car knowing its not at all a good match for my needs? I tried to call them the very next day not even 24 hours passed nothing was yet finalized, because the anxiety this car gave me was awful all i could think is how am I gonna make it home after work on a 20% charge there's no way! I CANT KEEP THIS CAR ITS STRESSING ME OUT, and they gave me the run around. when I was there to look at the car they only mentioned the good things and had no real answers for how long I'd need to charge it etc. They only said you'd never pay for gas again ,we have so many costumers trying to look at it because they wanna buy it. Okay if you have so many people trying to buy it why not take it back when I'm trying to return it. I recently went into the dealer to get a spare key and as usual my greeting made me feel like I was with friends. I asked Josh Cota to just order me a spare key. He said to me that he could not unless I had the proper documents to submit before ordering the key. To my surprise I said to him that he knew me and he still would not order the key without proper documentation showing ownership. I admire him for following regulations and company policy. General Manager Jim Davis and his entire staff, from reception, to sales, to service have made us feel like valued customers from the day we walked in the door just to buy new tires. While mounting and balancing tires, service identified an update available for the Bluetooth and installed the software. When I dropped my wife off to pick up our car she had to wait five minutes - while they washed the car, AGAIN. We were a day late having been out of town and even though they had washed it the day before in anticipatiion of us picking it up they insisted on "knocking off the dust", while she was served fresh hot coffee, offered a place to sit, and had, in her words, "a delightful conversation" with a member of the staff. We have owned 7 911's and the Cayenne, and when it comes time to make it a total of 9 we will entrust our business to Porsche of Monterey.
