Update with a few years hiatus from this location. I ordered my usual: hot pastrami on white. The three member staff was friendly, confident and efficient. My sandwich was exactly as expected. For years (45 for me) Port of Subs has produced quality sandwiches for a good price. Their ingredients have been consistently fresh and the meats have been sliced to order. As I was enjoying my lunch, the staff continued to engage their customers with candor, cheerful attitude and professionalism. Why one star? As I was finishing, that same manager came out front. The staff immediately tightened up to the point of nervous posturing and the manager challenged three consecutive customers. Three! This was my last try here. We love their subs but what happened to their service?? It is terrible! My husband is allergic to Mayo. I specifically said no MAYO because of this. We did a phone order and our friend picked it up on his way home for us since we were all sick. Great friend! It's a 25 min drive away from us. We received the sub and it had mustard/mayo! I specifically said oil and vinegar only (NO MAYO because of an FOOD ALLERGY). I called to explain the situation asking for a refund on the one sandwich - not the entire order and they said they wouldn't unless I drove 25 min there to bring them the sub which would be a total of 50 min of driving to resolve. I offered to send pictures to show proof... nope! They would rather inconvenience us more by making us save the sub, drive all the way there to resolve before refunding. They are lucky he didn't bite into this sub. It would have been bad! I give them 2 stars for amazing food and take away the rest because of his allergy and the way the handled it. I threw away the sub as I'm not going to waste more money driving there to get a refund on ONE $10 sub. Thanks shift manager for your amazing service! Much appreciated. Seriously so disappointed with this location. All of the restaurants closed down in Mesa so I have to drive 30 minutes each way because I love Port of subs. The last three times we've ordered here we get home and the sandwiches are so disappointing. They literally are putting a few slices of meat on the sandwiches. I have six kids my order is $$30-$50 each time I go and this is just unacceptable! Also ask for extra olives literally had 2. My daughter ordered a six foot sub minus the condiments to be put on the side, so the bread wouldn't get soggy. The skimpy, laser cut meat and cheese was barely visible. The owner must be proud of ripping off his customers, which I will never be. She did pay over $50 for this joke ....oh by the way the width of these sandwiches are approximately 2 1\2 inches wide.....lousy thieves.......I wonder if it is really six ! I come here a few times a month because it's consistently good. The customer service is so much more friendly and helpful than any of the other sub shops around. The employees are great at greeting me right away and taking the time to make sure my sub is exactly how I want it, (not doused in mustard after I ask for a tiny little bit like that other sub chain that shall remain nameless). I'm willing to pay for better bread and meat and the level of customer service I get here. As long as Port of Subs keeps doing it right, I'll keep on coming here instead of stopping somewhere closer or cheaper. read more

I don't know what has happened to Port of Subs, but I will not be returning...ever. Smaller, lighter bread. The thinnest slices of cut deli meat so thin you can't even see it on your sub. All you see are the veggies and bread. And who can forget that they over charge for that? Over $7 for a medium sub to get basically nothing? So disappointed. A combo meal costs $11 or more after taxes..shame. Only reason I am giving 2 stars is because it does taste good. If only they went back to actually filling up the subs with meat.... read more

This place has good sandwiches however the owner is super sparing with the meats, cheese and toppings. He literally sets them up to barley cover the bread. We used to come here weekly and I forgot why we hadn't been for awhile but as soon as I walked in I remembered. I waited to see if something had changed nope same stingy guy. $50 for 1 small, 2 medium sandwiches and kids meal is way too much to still be hungry. We will drive to another location in the future. I came here today after swimming, and was starving. I saw it on the way to the pool and stopped in after I was heading home. For starters, this port of subs has the best hours. Every other one I've been to has closed at some ridiculously early hour. This ones open until 8 on sundays, when others are either closed entirely or close at 4. Brownie points for being open "late." (later then other locations) Service was quick and efficent, and my sub was delicious. I went with the #18 and it came out great. I've been a fan of port a subs for a long time. This location though disappointed me, the staff is not wearing masks while making sandwiches or bringing up orders. There is no ability for their team to socially distance while making the sandwiches, so masks would be very helpful. I'm choosing to support businesses that are following CDC guidelines to protect customers and staff, so I wont be returning. I manage a store myself, and its standard guidance to have staff wear masks. I cant imagine not having anyone wear one. read more

Used a coupon to go here and try it for the first time. Got a veggie and I had to create a club sandwich as one is not on the menu. The meat and cheese is all cut fresh on a slicer! The person eating the veggie said it was the best she ever had when compared to other sub shops. My club was good but the amount of meat was pretty light. Then again all these places nowadays weigh or count the slices of meat. The bacon was really good actually. They have three bread choices. Wheat, white, and sourdough. I had the sourdough and really liked it. One employee was new and the other seemed to be the mgr. We will be back. 8" cold subs are $5.99 and 12" are $7.99. They offer hot sandwiches as well.
