This shop makes me so sad. I used to love this port of subs and ate there at least once a week in the early/mid 2010s when I worked near it. I recently moved back to the area and was excited to be able to get some of my favorite sandwiches again. The absolute disappointment I felt when I revisited was visceral. Dirty, shitty service, restricted ingredients, sloppy subpar sandwiches and to top it off their prices went waaaay up. Not sure what happened but it sucks and it bums me out. When I arrived to the place there was nothing out ready to be served; No breads, no meats, no cheeses, no condiments. I was thinking they were going out of business or something. There was a woman, a man and a young boy in there. the woman was the only one attempting to make sandwiches. There was a gentleman that beat me there and was ordering his sandwhich and the woman had to keep running to the back to grab the items and DIG through containers in front to find condiments. This process took about 10 minutes itself. Then when she finally asked for my order (small pastrami melt sub with only cheese and mayo) she continued to make his offer before even gathering the supplies to start mine. All while the man and young boy just sat there and watched her do all this. Mid way into his sandwhich being done she began to grab the bread and meat to begin mine. She DROPPED my piece of bread on the BARE counter and continued on. Strike one. She the pulls out some meat that I assume was the pastrami but looked like chewed up dog food and popped it in the microwave. Strike two. At this point I've been here about 15 minutes waiting. For a small sandwich with just meat and cheese. Then the man comes to the register and says that'll be $9. I said for this tiny sandwich with just a few pieces of shriveled up meat and cheese and a dab of mayo?! He respinded "yes look at the board that's the price". Then he and the woman started talking a different language. STRIKE THREE! I kindly said no Thankyou keep your sandwhich and horrible service and I left. I've been to this Port of Subs over a dozen times but it appears they have new owners and a new crew. The customer in front of me, as well as myself, really struggled to communicate with the girls. They did not have a mastery of the English language and it was very awkward for both myself and the other guy, so it took a while to get in and out. I got a medium Hot Pastrami for $8.75, including tax. PoS always has the freshest ingredients and I hope this location works thru the growing pains of new owners and crew. read more

First time getting port of subs. It's good. I got the #1 it comes with salami and ham and cheese. You can choice from different sizes. Also they have white, wheat or sourdough bread. There's a new bread called jalapeño cheddar. My brother got the jalapeño cheddar with the #10 he liked it. It's a bit spicy plus he ate takis with it. They slice the meat when you order the sandwich. You can add tomatoes, pickles cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, banana peppers, spices like oregano, vinegar and oil, also mayo and other sauces to chose from. There's a patio outside as well. read more

I grew up with Port of Subs in Reno, Nevada so I am very familiar with the brand. My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch. I ordered my old familiar stand by: #1 Italian Sub with provolone,veggies, spices, oil and vinegar. I made it into a meal with barbecue chips and a soda, Mr Pibb. My husband ordered the #18 Roast Beef, Turkey, provolone and veggies, spices, oil and vinegar on sourdough, chips and soda. As usual, they didn't disappoint with fresh veggies, premium meats and cheeses. Great customer service and friendly employees. We will be back for sure! read more

I write this about 70% through what I suppose a remote, un-contacted tribesman would consider a sub sandwich. Moments like the further validated my claim that god, in fact, does not exist -- simply due to the fact that he would have stopped me from every entering this abortion of a sandwich shop prior to my commitment. I would argue that this pastrami would be a quality substitute for some sort of tire-patch, but then it would probably not be microwave safe. This would go against their entire business model and therefore would not be profitable to the shareholders. Furthermore, during the time that it took for them to make an 8" sandwich (of which the contents between the bread sum up to about 3/16" thick), I could have driven to the store and bought enough ingredients to set up a competing shop across the parking lot. I would not eat this again if it were literally the last available option, and I say that knowing full-well that there is an Arby's within a mile from this location. I would go so far as to say that I would rather kill and pluck a wild pigeon, and then cook it on a grill using expired charcoal prior to eating here again. Can't go wrong with these subs. I'll randomly come here for lunch when I'm in the mood for a sub and this place always hits the spot. I usually get the 8in wheat sub #8 which is turkey and provolone, you can add pretty much any topping/dressing to your liking. I usually keep it pretty classic and get a bag of chips if I'm feeling fancy. First time here. Stopped in around 1:30 on a week day for lunch. Would usually go to Subway, but we had a coupon for a free sandwich. Ordered a 5" with oven roasted chicken on wheat with no cheese and lots of veggies. My friend got an 8" something on sour dough. We added chips and a drink to both. The sandwiches were big with a fair amount of meat and cheese. Plenty of veggies. Everything was fresh and tasty. The downside was the limited choice of condiments. Nothing lite or low calorie other than plain yellow mustard. I went with the mustard. Ended up with way too much, and it was very strong. The other thing is there was just way too much bread. I took the top bun off and solved both problems. We got there at the tail end of lunch. There was a small line, but it moved quickly. Service was good. Everything looked clean. Total for two sandwiches, chips and drinks was $17 before the coupon. A bit on the high side, but would go again. Would like to try a salad or grilled sandwich next time. read more

First off, this review is probably a-little biased because Port of Subs has always been my favorite sub sandwich shop to eat in the entire whole wide world! Don't get me wrong, if you have crappy employees then you could have a crappy restaurant. I was very sad when they closed the Port of Sub by my house years ago. Enough of my soapbox rant and back to the review. I entered the establishment and both employees greeted you which is always a plus. Both employees were very happy, nice and helpful. After I placed my Gobble Gobble and Swiss sandwich with all my fixings, I had to wait until I reached my final destination (about 20 minutes) before I was able to devour this super-delicious masterpiece of a sandwich. I'm pretty sure everything they serve will be just as delicious as the gobble gobble sandwich which I inhaled. We ordered a tray of subs for our college football get together. They were very professional over the phone and made sure the order was ready by our desired pick up time. The sammiches turned out good and fresh and was exactly what we wanted. The bread was fresh and soft and there was adequate meat and cheese on the bun. Where they fell short was the toppings. We ordered ours on the side so everyone could get what they wanted. The jalapeños were minuscule, lettuce had a look of being old, and we only got one small 3-4 oz. cup of vinegar and oil. Quite disappointing really! Better looking toppings, and an ample amount would have earned another or possibly two. I'm a port o subs fan, but this was somewhat of a let down. Update: the staff totally redeemed themselves on our next Saturday football party. The sammiches were fresh, bread was fresh, and the toppings were plentiful! Not bad. I needed somewhere close to work to eat lunch at and I saw this place. Decided that I would give it a try. I ordered a medium (8 inch ) #7 which is roast beef and provolone. That and a small Coke came out to $8.50. They slice the meats once you order your sandwich. Bread was good...soft yet sturdy. It tasted good. No better or worse than other chainish sub shops. There's no way I can give port of subs anything less than a 5 stars. I go here an average of 2x a week. There's so many places with fried foods, or things that are going to make you feel like you need a nap and I don't need that at lunch. I still have another half a day to go. This is why I go to port of stubs. Freshly sliced cheeses, meats and the bread just compliments it all. Every time I go I get the number 12 medium. Perfect amount of cheese, not a pile of deli meat but a nice layer of it and the veggies. I won't knock them at all but the only thing I would want is a few more veggie choices. Go here. Get a sub.
