Service was great, food not so much. I got the Eggs Benedict with Lox. It was so humongous it was hard to eat. The bread was barely toasted. There was a full sliced onion on each piece and tomatoes were a little too thick. The eggs were cooked decent but small. Sauce was ok. I ended up eating the eggs and lox only, and hash browns. It wasn't worth the $20. My mimosa was the best part. I'll stick to just buying bagels here.

I have grown up in the Valley all my life and have been eating at Chompies for as long as I can remember. Sadly, this last time may just be our last. My husband and I waited to be sat in a practically empty restaurant. We sat for 20 minutes before receiving waters or acknowledged period. When we finally placed our order he waitress seemed annoyed with us! Just being there... We ordered 2 pastrami sandwiches and 2 sodas. That plus the tip was $71!!!! And when she flipped her iPad around the tips started at like $20% and up! And the sandwiches seemed smaller then usual. Absolutely terrible experience at this location! Never again! Such a bummer. I should have requested a refund it was such a disappointment.

This is a picture of the $16.99 crunchy munchy chicken wrap my upgraded side was a $1.49 cup of soup. Boy have time changed I put the pepper shaker behind the wrap to show the proportion. Each half of the wrap is approximately 2"tall. With 3 small pieces of chicken. Nevertheless was extremely unhappy with the wrap. The Mushroom Barley soup and service was great! Not sure we will be back!

Fast friendly service. The sandwiches were freshly prepared and so big. The Lox & Loaded I ordered was piled so high I could not get my mouth around it, so I had to half the half to eat it. The flavors were incredible. The Neil sliders were juicy and flavorful. This location has a casual feel and located by the mall. Delicious New York deli flavors.

It isn't New York and it is still missing something but if New York had a little half cousin in the valley this would be it. I order corn beef and pastrami sandwich. It didn't make me swing my feet or wiggle my toes but I did do a head nod of approval. The sandwich was good. I still had better. Try it for yourself you may like it!

Barrio Bread collaboration with Chompie's is a great addition

UPDATE May 2025: Yay for now selling the Barrio Bakery/Chompie's bagels! It's not easy to get Barrio Bread out our way, so I was very excited that they and Chompie's teamed up on a few varieties of bagels. I tried the Focaccia style and it was loaded with rosemary and smelled so good upon opening the bag. Toasting them really brought out the flavor. I don't believe they are a boiled bagel so if you are looking for that true NY shiny outside style, these are not them, but the dough itself is unique, so read about it on Barrio's site. They are c. $2+ each and sold in a 1/2 dozen bag, so yeah, they are pricey, but they are a really tasty treat and you are helping two great local companies and more. The flour comes from Hayden Mills, BKW Farms, and other items are also sourced locally and benefit groups such as San Xavier Cooperative Farm on the Tohono O'odham Nation in the ancestral village of Wa:k.

In 1997, our family pulled into Scottsdale and began a new life. We settled into the 92nd and Shea area and started to explore the neighborhood. We found Chompies and it became a weekly treat. The food was amazing! The pickles on the table could only whet the appetite. It stood apart from other restaurants. Fast forward a quarter century. We are now grandparents and our closest Chompies is at Arrowhead Mall. We have introduced it to many friends. Alas, I have decided to no longer go to the restaurant. My husband will have to get his Monte Cristo elsewhere. Why? The management of the Arrowhead location has boldly and consistently failed to make their restrooms clean. I have stood in puddles of questionable fluid to relieve myself. I have had dresses and skirts made wet. It is disgusting and shameful. The tiles and stalls are filthy. The photos below show streaks on the walls. I ran my finger over one and it smeared. It's not stained. It's FILTH. Is this where the staff go? Do they stand in puddles and touch the walls before they deliver our food? Why is this acceptable? This location should be inspected for e coli wherever employees frequent. It needs a professional cleaning and a plan to change, or lock the doors because they stopped caring.

Anytime I get/ have to take a field trip for / during working hours, I always look to Yelp for…read morecoffee and or baked goods. I recently had to be in the downtown Glendale area - the Yelp machine recommended I hit up Blue Corn Cafe. There's some development / construction in the downtown area so parking is a little limited. However - I was able to snag a spot right along 58th Ave and get a good view of all the cute shops to check out at a later date. Blue Corn was surprisingly busy that morning due to hosting a Coffee with Cops event. I got the low down from a few of the GPD staff that they are consistently rated as one of the best cafes in the city, maybe even the West Valley. They have recently-ish opened up a second location in DT Mesa, which definitely fits their vibe. I was told the owner gets up early every day to bake - I love the dedication to his craft. Like many mom and pops, there are times when quantities are limited. So ofc I had to buy some baked goods to go for my work team! Their muffins are HUGE - like 2 -3 servings per *singular* muffin. I didn't know what I was getting into when I bought 6... hello carb heaven for us. I noticed a lot of sweet and savory options - croissant sandwiches, cookies, you name it. Definitely the muffins were well-enjoyed by all (PSL, lemon-blueberry, red velvet), and the general consensus was lemon blueberry as the winner. It's a small space with not a lot of seating options however there appears to be a back patio that might be shared with other restaurants. I couldn't get a view on my way out. Cannot wait for the next time that I'm in the area to grab more sweets!

Came for a quick stop--left planning my next trip back. I had about a two-hour break during a track…read moremeet and noticed a small line forming outside this bakery in downtown Glendale--so I decided to go on a little adventure. This was my first stop, and I'm so glad it was. The café itself is absolutely charming--spacious, clean, and with plenty of seating. But what stood out immediately was the customer service. From the moment I walked in, everyone was smiling. You can tell this is a team that genuinely enjoys what they do. Despite the line, they were patient, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Their coffee selection is wide but not overwhelming. . I went with the matcha latte with pistachio, which was well-balanced. When it came to food, I couldn't decide between my usual go-to (broccoli and cheese quiche) or the bacon, spinach, and cheddar--or even the tomato basil, which sounded amazing. I asked the barista/ server to choose for me, and she recommended the bacon, spinach, and cheddar. It did not disappoint. The crust was thick and perfectly done, and the filling was layered and flavorful--just incredible. I also ordered an ube muffin and was given a complimentary lemon tart (no complaints here!). The ube muffin was exactly what you'd hope for--lightly sweet with a delicate blend of vanilla, nutty notes, and a hint of coconut. The lemon tart was perfectly balanced--bright, slightly tart, and complemented beautifully by the whipped topping. Before leaving, I grabbed a loaf of sourdough to go. They even offered to slice it for me--small detail, big win. And I have to say, coming from San Francisco, I do not say this lightly: this is hands-down some of the best sourdough I've had outside of San Francisco. Honestly worth the 45-minute drive just for that alone. I come from a background in the restaurant industry, and great service doesn't go unnoticed. Everyone here was attentive, kind, and truly invested in the experience they provide. The customer service alone is worth the visit. They so offer Panini's and daily soups.. Their menu changes daily. They also offer Louisiana hot sauce so someone knows what they're doing. I can't wait to bring my kids here next time. We will absolutely be back.
