First of all, ordered at the counter and chose our seat. Place had plentiful tables to choose from. Menu had a variety of sandwiches, vermicelli, and rice plates. So many choices, but my tummy stuck with the sandwich. When the nicely wrapped sandwiches came to our table, I we were pleasantly surprised. The sandwiches were more than generous and huge. I ordered #2 - grilled pork, pate, fried egg, and with all the trimmings. Absolutely delicious! Bread was nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Protein fillings were not skimpy at all- the grilled pork was not overly salty, the pate was a nice thin creamy flavorful layer, and the fried egg was perfect and fluffy to top. First impressions: a clean and modern interior that has a calming effect. Not a lot of tables! We were lucky to snag the last one after a table left. An employee quickly cleared the table without hesitation, wiping it down and giving us a pleasant greeting. He was also clearing plates through the small space. It looked like there was just one person working the counter and he was also helping to cook. Everything was cooked to order. We ordered a BBQ pork banh mi, spring rolls, and a pork eggroll noodle bowl (which is my newest obsession). The vegetables on the sandwich were fresh and flavorful; we had some inconsistent knife cuts on the pork resulting in "a big 'ole hunk of meat" on one side of the sandwich, but no big deal. A few issues for me, which may not be a deterrent to you: The rice noodles were overcooked to my taste and my noodle bowl was missing the crunch of bean sprouts! Those same mushy noodles were in the spring rolls. We both didn't care for the addition of bacon in the spring roll and the peanut sauce was the consistency of peanut butter, but we mixed it with siracha and made our own little spicy sauce. This spot is unassuming from the outside, and the service can be a little on the slow side, but the food--and the customer service--make up for it. I ordered one of their salad bowls with grilled pork but asked for no noodles, just veggies. At most vermicelli places, that request gets me strange looks, but not here. They handled it without hesitation, and it was absolutely delicious. The lotus root salad was another standout--fresh, flavorful, and well-balanced. Their bowls are sort of a build-your-own as well, which I've never seen before. The grilled pork BBQ banh mi, however, was a miss for me. It lacked the vegetables shown in the menu photo and didn't have the flavor punch I was hoping for. I'd skip the sandwich next time. Their Vietnamese coffee is much stronger than it appears in the photos. It came out much darker and less milky than expected. But when I mentioned it to the cashier, they happily remade it to my preference. Really appreciated that extra effort. All in all, a solid place for fresh Vietnamese bowls and salads. The perfect lunch! I ordered a Bánh mi sandwich with grilled pork and it was delicious! Great flavor and a big sandwich, which I saved one half for lunch the next day. I got a side order of the bao buns and they were absolutely perfect. I would order 50 if I could!! My husband got the noodle bowl with chicken and pork egg roll. He loved it and the egg roll was his favorite. This was also a generous portion and he saved some for lunch the next day too. It was busy inside during lunch. I ordered takeout and there was a waiting area with a bench, but there were tables inside to dine in. Service was great, kind staff and took about 10 minutes to get my food. This is the second time coming here I forgot how much I love it!! I brought my gf for a quick lunch . I got the bbq pork Banh Mi with a strawberry ice tea and she got the chicken noddle bowl . And a Taro milk tea Both were sooo tasty. What I thought was a little different about the noddle bowl was noddles seemed to be a little thicker than the normal vermicelli noddles used for this dish. I read a bunch of trusted Yelper reviews before coming here and was looking forward to a good meal since I was fasting, well not really, I had a dental appointment and wanted to eat after my appointment. This place was close to where I was and I popped in here vs going to Pho KC. I was actually interested in having some pho soup but then I realized I made a mistake in my restaurant choice as this place doesn't serve pho. OK, on to plan B, and I ordered a noodle salad bowl with grilled pork and veggie egg rolls. Service was quick here and staff were nice. My dish was just ok and the veggie egg rolls were a bit burnt (and weren't fresh), but what I didn't exactly enjoy was the grilled pork. I realized later after having a second meal out of my leftovers (good portion for price) is that the grilled pork is made with char su, and I just don't like char su. Never did, even as a kid. I also was kind of turned off by the very red color of the pork. I think I was expecting a lean cut of fresh pork, grilled brown and not red. There wasn't anything wrong with the char su grilled pork, it's just I don't like pork cooked this way. And I dont enjoy big hunks of char su. And if I eat char su, it's diced up and very small amounts in a fried rice at most for me. I would be willing to come back and try some other dishes to see if my experience can be elevated. But will say for now, this first trip was rather a disappointment for me. read more

Bread made in-house! The loaf is huge. You definitely get your biggest bang for your buck. The pate is flavorful. There's a lot of fillers in the banh mi. The Vietnamese salad was not tasty. The bamboo is good! Fresh flavors but lack of flavor. They add a really light fish sauce. I personally love fish sauce in everything but lack of flavor. Space is clean. This review is based on the fact that I went here once about 5 years ago and the food was extremely tasteless. I didn't like it. The only thing that tasted like nothing but kimchi peanuts was the sauce. Other than that, we didn't eat the food in my children didn't even touch it. My mom sister and I have been eating here for years. It's always great. My sister always gets the tofu banh mis. My mom and i always get the rice and vermicelli plates. I love the freshness and flavors of the lemongrass And pork on my vermicelli plates. The boba drinks are just okay. Never anything memorable to be honest. But for the food it's always worth it. About a year and a half ago I moved my business not too far from Banh Mi and I was super happy to find a quality restaurant that served tasty food that included many vegan choices. Unfortunately the quality has gone way down hill over the last year or so. Egg rolls are cold and chewy. They don't seem to understand when I ask for the salads to be made vegan, I have to explain it to them every time, and they are never consistent. Good to be back at Banh Mi Bistro. The weather is too hot to turn on the stove. Why not a Banh mi? I recognized the lady taking orders so that was a good sign. We got the #5 BBQ pork and #4 chicken Banh mi. Service was super quick and the Banh mi sandwiches were fresh and warm. The size of the Banh mi seems to have grown to a giant size baguette. It was delicious and we couldn't finish the whole thing. They are generous with the protein and each bite yielded a piece of meat. Not always the case in Banh mi. The pickled daikon and carrots provide the slightly tangy flavor. It leaves you wanting more. They did not skimp on the fillings, especially the meat. The BBQ pork was on the sweeter side and decently fatty. The chicken curry was rich with deep lemongrass flavor. Lots of chicken inside with some carrot and potato. Super flavorful and comforting. And at $9 it's a steal! I chose to order baguette instead of rice, and they gave a whole baguette. I also ordered a green milk tea for $4.50. It was like a light milky matcha. Pretty good but a bit sweet for my taste. You order at the register. After a long haitus of 5 years, I finally had the chance to return to Ban Mi Bistro. I was amazed and pleased to see that this wonderful eatery has retained its stellar accomplishments of great food, efficient staff, and reasonable prices. As you can see from my previous reviews, this used to be my daily lunch spot. Changes in work had me relocated during my lunch time, and I had lost touch with this great food. Today, I had a chance to return, and return I did. I bought the rice plate with chicken, which, by all accounts, is enough food for 2 people. And wow, the flavor still kicks ass. Sizzling hot food, with the perfectly sublime gentle spice undertones that seem to comfort your mouth at every bite. The chicken rice plate has a collage of chopped veggies accompanying the chicken and rice, and all of it is amazing. The staff continues to be kind and swift, while being helpful at every turn. And they get the dishes prepared in rocket speed! I was never unhappy when this was my mainstay linch stop, and I am glad to see it continues to be the best asian eatery in the area.
