I came here at around 8pm on Wednesday during the summer. Everywhere was packed and we found this place on a whim and they were able to accommodate a party of 6! I ordered the chupin (mezcal, muddled fresh strawberries, pineapple, lime juice and simple syrup) the mezcal covers a lot of the flavor but this was sweet and easy to drink. I also got the bife de costilla (rib eye) medium rare and it was a very good portion and cooked perfectly. I enjoyed the chimichurri sauce on it. The kale cabbage bean salad was good, but the lemon dressing was just a bit too much, too sour for my liking. It's a small restaurant and our waitress was excellent. Empanadas are good.. just quite expensive for what it is. $6 a piece. Friends got the steak sandwich which was pretty good. Flavors and crisp on the bread were good.. only gripe was the actual meat portion of it was very small... not worth $24 to be honest. I got the 16 ounce ribeye steak for $42.. and I was left VERY disappointed.. I asked for medium rare and the steak was very unevenly cooked.. some parts were super rare and some were medium rare.. and it doesn't seem like they rendered the fat on the ribeye at all.. very gross/fatty to eat.. Additionally, we ordered the risotto and the lomito completo. The risotto was delicious with nice creaminess and the lomito completo had really nicely toasted bread with delicious combination of steak, ham, cheese, egg, and toppings. Also got the pear cake with dulce de leche ice cream which was really good. It was the right amount of sweetness and the textures between the bread, fruit, and ice cream was perfect. Overall all the dishes were excellent and well made. Venue (5/5): Beautiful restaurant with nice Spanish themed music. You feel and relaxed and at peace in an upscale setting. Came here on a date night and the restaurant couldn't have been more perfect. It's cozy, intimate and the staff is attentive, friendly and thoughtful. We didn't have reservation when we showed up but being that it's a Tuesday night, they had plenty of seatings available. My date ended up ordering everything and I must confess, every dish he ordered was good. We had the warm burrata as the starter and shared a plate of ribeye and creamy mushroom raviolis. Everything was pleasantly prepared and the flavor was certainly on point. Though I did wish my ribeye has more marbling. We also shared a bottle of wine and the restaurant was okay to let us have a small tasting first before we ordered. Overall, I like this restaurant. My friend lives around the area and we have always talked about eating here but it was always full. The place fills up pretty quick. So I recommend having a reservation for a table, we didn't have one and sat at the bar. Nevertheless he a great experience the place is cozy and perfect for catching up with friend while enjoying a good meal. We started with two cocktails, Fifi and Fernando. For appetizers the Empanada de Carne and the Chorizo Criollo y Morcilla. We also had the Camarones con ensalada de Palmitos which they graciously split into two servings for us. For the entree we ordered the Costilla Al Malbec con Chipa Guazu and papas. I must say the food was amazing the chorizo and morcilla were very flavorful. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the palm hearts really complemented it. The empanada was not what we expected but we still enjoyed it. To wrap up the night we ordered the Budín de pan tibio as per the servers suggestion and it did not disappoint! The Dulce de leche gelato was really good. A good friend and I had a double date here with our hubbies after checking out Howardena Pindell at The Shed. For starters, we shared a few empanadas (carne, caprese) and the burrata. The empanadas were delicious but definitely order at least 6 if sharing amongst four since they're pretty small. Those who know me know burrata is my favorite cheese and they did not disappoint. The burrata was a bit firm on the outside and creamy on the inside and the tomatoes were perfectly seasoned with balsamic vinegar. We each ordered four different entrees (milanesa, salmon, costilla, and the branzino special). The milanesa was a bit dry and the crust was quite bland. The accompanying salad dressing needed a bit of a kick. The same can be said of my branzino which was the day's special. Unfortunately while the fish was moist, everything else on my plate was dry and lacked a sauce/gravy which would've taken it to a higher levels. My other half however really enjoyed his salmon. I skipped dessert but our friends shared the dulce de leche flan and gave it rave reviews. Overall our meal was just ok which is unfortunate as most Latin American restaurants I've patronized was the exact opposite. I'm embarrassed to say how long it took me to discover Porteño given how close I live to it. My friend, husband and I finally strolled in on a Sunday night for drinks and a cheese plate. We were greeted by the warmest wait staff, they genuinely love to serve you and have so much pride in their vast selection of Argentine wines. Our waiter, Max recommended some delicious Malbecs and a Cava that we enjoyed for several hours. We added on some empanadas and they were absolutely delicious. Excited to introduce new friends, I went back yesterday with a group of 9 and they were so accommodating in seating all of us. We had a similarly fantastic experience with our waiter Max serving us some delicious Malbecs and cocktails. Again, the empanadas were delicious and we also loved the burrata dish we got to share. Came back again this morning for coffee and as always the staff was so kind to let us enjoy our coffee in their heated outdoor seating with my dog as well. I'm not sure if this was authentic Argentinean food, but either way, it didn't have much flavor outside of tasting the light char from cooking the meat on a grill. I had a beef samosa which was fine, but the skirt steak was less than to be desired. It was the greasiest skirt steak I've ever had, and the couscous that accompanied it had zero flavor outside of the sun-dried tomatoes in it. I didn't even care to have the one piece of pepper as the other side. The service was nice, but it took him a while to come around once check time came. My overall suggestion? Food: - Calamari: Love that this isn't fried, so you can appreciate the texture of the calamari.
