It turns out the internet manager did not check to see if the truck he had matched the truck we agreed on, or that in order to make a sale, tried to pull a fast one by telling me had what I was looking for, all the while knowing he didn't. I suspect the latter. I also believe he was counting on me to be so tired of the car buying process that I would accept a similar match. After all, I had already gone through the trouble of negotiations and was now on his lot. He was almost right. Thankfully my senses returned and I ended up walking out. Indianapolis Auto Credit Finance and Clarence were the opposite. Clarence was super responsive during the negotiation process, both through emails and phone calls. The time from first contact until offer acceptance took just three hours, and that included time spent price shopping with other dealerships. At the dealership, Clarence was professional and always maintained a calm demeanor despite facing a cautious client. And even when the signing was over and done with, He took the time to explain the different car features, set up On Star, and pair my cell phone to Bluetooth. Stoops Buick GMC was one of the most unprofessional dealership experiences I've had…read more I'm based in Dallas and was purchasing a high-end used vehicle from their Indianapolis location. I put down a $1,000 deposit to hold the car while I completed a pre-purchase inspection. I paid for the inspection and sent a mechanic to the dealership. I told them I needed to speak with the inspector and would confirm everything the next day. The inspection came back positive, so I immediately bought a plane ticket to fly up and pick up the vehicle. That same day, after I emailed them my plan and timing, they replied that they had sold the car to someone else and were refunding my deposit. There was no heads-up, no call, and no "we have another buyer, you need to finalize by X time." Just an email saying it was sold. As a result, I'm now out $786 for the plane ticket and the inspection with no remedy. A deposit should actually hold the car, not hold it until someone else walks in the door. I would not do business with Stoops Buick GMC again.

My old mechanic had closed up shop and someone had recommended McGinley's, so I decided to give him a chance. I had him change my oil for starters to meet him and get a feel for the place; he was friendly and the price was about average (I never trust the cheapest place anyway). A few months later I wasn't paying attention and ended up 500 miles overdue for my next oil change, but he couldn't get me in until Monday. I didn't want to risk damaging my engine, so I went to some big chain 10 minute oil change place and felt terribly guilty because I like small business, I like to be a good customer and it was my own fault for not paying attention to the oil change sticker. They said I needed a new serpentine belt and told me all the terrible things that would happen if it broke while I was driving (I discovered later that it is common for these places to sell you unnecessary repairs). I thanked them for telling me and told them I would have my regular mechanic change it. I rushed my truck to Mr. McGinley that Monday (after fretting about it all weekend). I frantically told him what the oil change place had said; he took a look at it and said "You absolutely do NOT need a new serpentine belt!". I was fairly young and inexperienced when this happened and have had the good fortune to have had two excellent, trustworthy mechanics prior to this. I am also not particularly well acquainted with cars, so he could easily have said "Yep, you need a new one!" and it would never have occurred to me to question him, I just would have shelled out $xxx and been none the wiser. I think at the time it would have been obvious to anyone that I would have made an easy target but he was honest with me, and it was the start of a great relationship that has lasted almost ten years, and hopefully a lot longer. The few times that I have fact checked what he had told me, repaired or charged me have all checked out against any research or other professional opinions. I have never felt cheated or like I was overcharged, and he works hard to get me in and out ASAP. I haven't encountered a problem yet that he hasn't been able to fix, and has never once given my truck back with motor oil stains, dirty floor mats or something left in worse shape than I brought it to him in. He takes the time to answer all of my questions, goes over any car I'm thinking about buying with a fine toothed comb and one time even looked out for me with a very subtle, tactful mention that my boyfriend had another woman with him when he dropped his car off (we knew each other well enough for him to tell me that by then, and there was no intent on his part to cause any drama - she was just a friend, but I really appreciated him caring enough to say something!). He has demonstrated his honesty, dependability and genuine concern for the well-being of his customers on multiple occasions, and has never patronized me or made me feel stupid or intimidated for being relatively uneducated about cars. He's gone out of his way to make sure I was taken care of, safe and able to get where I needed to go many times over the years, and I only hope that I have been able to return his kindness by being a good, loyal customer and trying to respect his time and other customers. If I had to find a drawback it would be that he doesn't accept credit cards, but as I like to point out, even MARILYN MONROE had a mole. I wouldn't even THINK about going anywhere else!

Extremely disappointed. After an oil change and multipoint inspection (which was quickly done), the…read moreonly issue mentioned was my tire tread getting low. However, they neglected to find these obvious issues. Keep in mind I was told before service and after that they top off what needs to be topped off. 1. Radiator coolant was at the minimum before service. The radiator coolant remained at the minimum after service. They topped it off after I pointed it out, but I shouldn't have to. 2. Antifreeze was at the minimum going in and is still at the minimum. I will be topping it off before going to another dealership to have it flushed out and replaced. 3. They mentioned they checked the engine air filter and it was fine. Upon inspection at home, the dust on the air filter cover was undisturbed showing they had not touched it. Upon inspecting the air filter, it was painfully clear that it was not checked and was desperately needing replaced. A picture is provided. 4. They mentioned the cabin air filter was also checked and was fine. After removing the filter, it was clearly evident that it wasn't checked as it was disgusting. A picture is provided. I don't know if it's because they lost their master mechanic (what they told me) so it's inexperience, or if it was laziness, or a scam, but they have lost all my trust and I will never go there again. I will be going elsewhere for another inspection to see what else was missed.

Every single person I have interacted with has gone out of their way to under promise, over deliver, and generally treat me like I am family. The type of family that supports you, wants what is best for you, and is willing to put in the work to show you that you are important to them. Going in I knew I needed to replace a very old high mileage minivan. My credit was less than stellar. By "less than stellar" I mean someone once stole it, but later returned it with an apology note pinned to a $50 bill. Regardless, the team worked to get me financed for a full-size SUV that met all of my needs and then some. It was a new acquisition that needed to be serviced before I could drive it home. Sid, the GM, took the time to sit and talk with me for several minutes and make sure all of my questions were answered and concerns were addressed. He put me in contact with Gregg, the Sales Manager who ensured I was kept in the loop the entire time. Again, Gregg went out of his way to make sure I was taken care of and kept up to date. When Gregg was out of the office he ensured Kai (sorry if I misspelled that), the Service Manager, was up to speed and stepped in seamlessly to address any issues that arose. I know that people have different experiences and opinions. I can only tell you my experience and it was outstanding. Facts are facts, and the fact is I have purchased new and used cars from dealerships in Central Indiana for more than 32 years. (My Husband wrote this!!!!)…read more Me and my wife have been going back and forth with this place for the past couple days , we had ran a credit because we are still in the middle of a bankruptcy and had gotten approved so we could finally have something to call our own (we were extremely excited) , my wife had mentioned over the phone to one of the people helping us that we would be bringing in a van as a trade in (it is my fathers van that he got us so we could have *SOMEWHAT* of reliable transportation, but we have been making the payments on it) , and had gotten a previous quote somewhere else to see if they could match it , and they ENSURED us that indeed they could match it or possibly even beat it.This made us all the more optimistic . I also warned them that we would most likely be rolling over some negative equity, and they ensured me it would be no problem and to come on in. After driving in an hour and a half traffic on a Friday night at 5pm with our 17 month old (we couldn't go on any other day because I had to work and my wife has a job this weekend) we finally got to the location and we're greeted by the people we had been in contact with . We handed off the keys and waited for our vehicle to be appraised , in the mean time we patiently waited and chased our toddler what seems like all over the store , one of the people who had been in contact with us came in and told us that there was no way for us to get into a vehicle because of negative equity. I showed them the paper from the previous dealer and they basically stated they couldn't match that because rebates were included in the trade in value, even though they told me they would give me the same price over the phone. They told us That we had 3 choices of NOT trading in our vehicle (not an option, we don't need more car payments , we need 1 car payment) , putting money down( we are in the middle of a bankruptcy, that is a stupid comment in general) , or getting another signer (once again we are back to square one of not helping my husbands credit and bumming off of someone else) . At this point me and my wife were extremely frustrated because we had basically not only wasted our time , but we had already ran my crappy credit for NO reason . This was the FIRST time we have ever stepped foot into a ray skillman store and I absolutely think it will be the last. We feel lied to , defeated , used and most of all we wasted the only time we get together sitting in a dealership getting told the same thing we have heard everywhere else "we can't help you"
