Porter Ranch Pharmacy was like a breath of fresh air. Having done my time at big chains like CVS, RIte Aid and Walgreens I thought PRP was too good to be true! I had moved to Northridge 2.5 years ago but my pharmacy was still in Sherman Oaks. I was starting to have serious issues with my old pharmacy and made the decision it was time to make the change. I saw a commercial for PRP one night on cable and though it looked like a cool boutique pharmacy and I took a chance. I called before transferring my meds and spoke with Phil. He is absolutely the kindest and most "real" pharmacist I have ever met, and knowledgeable about everything pharmacy. I felt so comfortable speaking with him that I transferred all my Meds on that call and the following day went in for a pick up. The pharmacy was welcoming and clean, the staff was on point and gave me amazing customer service and my prescription was ready in 5 minutes or less - all the transfers and everything was done without any stress or headaches and to top it off the prescription was LESS than I thought it would be! Absolutely terrible! They said the prescription would be ready within a couple of hours. We were out of town but the doctor recommended starting the medicine ASAP. We start making our way back to the area. I called them back since they never contacted me. They said oh won't be ready for another day!!! I call the next day at it wasn't ready until late afternoon. They then proceeded to charge me cash price and didn't even attempt to run it through our insurance. Never again! read more

It was Labor Day weekend 2017, I had been to at least 8 pharmacies prior to ending up here. I arrived 5 minutes prior to closing - they actually had the medication I needed in stock as I was traveling back to the East Coast (can't fill controlled RX in another state). The owner saw the rush, panic and frustration I was having. He noticed the Dr. Had messed up on writing the RX and he couldn't fill it again because being controlled. He offered to stay an hour after he closed and wait for me to drive to the Dr. Since it could not be called or faxed in. The owner is extremely friendly, knows true customer service and went above and beyond. This is a prime example why I don't like going to corporate pharmacy chains. Porter Ranch Pharmacy gained a lifetime customer through their actions and all I can say is Thank You. read more

I've been using PRP for many years now. I was first introduced to them when my Mom was in a board and care facility and they would deliver her medications. They were very supportive and on top of her medications. I really like Phillip and Soco has been very helpful, but there are for sure room for improvements. Let's start with medications that are on maintenance (refilled every 30 days). Their system really needs to be improved, especially for medications that are sometimes challenging to get... a system should be in place to automatically order them from their supplier and have them ready for refill. This is probably their biggest issue they need to address. We are human, and mistakes are made. But it's about how they go about resolving those mistakes. When I have had an issue, Phillip has done his best to make it right and as quickly as possible. I have had much worse happen at T@rget and won't go back there. At least I know where the buck stops and have been able to discuss my issues directly with Phillip and not some corporate manager who doesn't care about their customers. I'm glad they opened Saturday hours, and are open till 7pm (since many of us don't seem to get out it work much before then anyway), that also helps. I've used their application on an iPhone and I have to say it needs to be improved. It's OK but is annoying that it doesn't work with the touchID on my iPhone so I have to remember the account and password every time. It should also have a better way to manage your prescriptions and refills. It works but it's clunky in my opinion. I wish they would bring back a seating area, at least a few simple chairs to sit while waiting. There is the outside lobby, but it would be nice to be closer while waiting for your order to be filled. As long as PRP keeps trying to improve I will keep going as a customer. read more

I cannot thank the people at this pharmacy enough. I has been waiting for refills until my new insurance kicked in but ran into red tape at blue shield. The pharmacy ran interference and pushed through until things were resolved. They kindly worked with me even as I grew desperate, and their perseverance makes me a forever customer. Anytime I'm in town and need my prescription filled, I always make my way here. They're a bit further than where I normally stay but totally worth the drive for amazing customer service. The workers are fast and friendly and the pharmacist is always helpful when I have questions; they really care about their customer and go above and beyond for me. Plus it's super clean, neat, and always filled with new goodies to browse through as I wait for my prescription. 5 stars well deserved ! read more

I normally don't think of going to the pharmacy as an instance where I'm going to receive any sort of good customer service. The majority of visits I've made to pharmacies over the course of my lifetime were to commercial chains such as CVS, Walgreens, and maybe Rite Aid a couple times as a backup. 99% of the time, the employees of the pharmacy were either nonchalant or just plain unpleasant. When I was in need of a particular medication that was not in stock at any of the usual locations previously mentioned, I decided to stop by PR Pharmacy to see if they have it in stock. Not only did they have it, but the gentleman who helped me (I think his name was Nicholas) entered my profile data, insurance information, AND had my prescription ready all in LESS THAN 20 minutes!! He also went above and beyond to help me look for a particular vitamin supplement in their OTC section as well - and did so without the usual reluctance or burdened feeling you would get from the chain stores. I was in shock at how courteous and efficient the staff at Porter Ranch Pharmacy are! Although it will probably take a lot of time and several phone calls, I will definitely be transferring my monthly refill medications to this pharmacy, for the simple fact that you can't find this type of excellent customer service anywhere else. read more

The only FIVE star pharmacy In LA. Professional, friendly , beautiful and zen inside. They take the extra mile to make your sick and waiting at the doctors office more pleasant. The owner Phil compounded and unit dosed my mothers pain med when she had cancer and was just put on hospice. Then delivered himself after hours. When my elderly fraile dad went in for a flu shot, he was anxious about pain of injection. Kevork , made Him comfortable and at ease , my dad said I didn't even know when he injected me, there was no pain. They have the most pleasant, awesome staff I've ever encountered. I'm so glad I've found this diamond in the valley. Plus their price is the same as chain pharmacies. I recommend every body to go to Porter Ranch Pharmacy instead of chain stores that make you wait and have no personality. read more

It's convenient when you're at the urgent care it's right across the hallway but no sense of urgency they are so slow.. I've been waiting 20 minutes for 2 prescriptions and two people have enter and pick up thier stuff and I'm still waiting.. read more

UPDATE: I am updating my review and bringing it up higher. They felt badly about the delay and were very accommodating in getting my prescription to me and adjusting the charges to compensate. I do appreciate that. ------------ Pharmacy is convenient to Urgent Care and UCLA Porter Ranch. They are generally friendly and if they have what you need the wait is not unusually long. But if they don't have it in stock just go to CVS or somewhere else. This is at least the second time I've had to deal with them ordering something and waiting days and days for it and naturally it is not in on the day they said it would be. And three different people said they'd call to let me know status and not one of them did. I'm pretty sure it was not ordered the day they said it was. Their follow up is not good. This is also the same place that sent me home with someone else's medicine and when I called to let them know they expected me to bring it back. I had pneumonia at the time. I refused to get out of bed and insisted they deliver to my house and couldn't believe I actually had to argue with them about it. Also found they charged me a second time for the medication when they delivered it. They fixed it but...really? Overall pretty inexcusable way to treat folks with a medical need who may also be in pain. If they were not colocated with several busy medical practices I don't know if they'd get much repeat business. I think I've finally learned my lesson. read more

Talk about customer service, they actually went out of their way to get a prescription done for me. It was not an easy task as it was not available in many places. They took the time away from their busy schedule to look for this medication , found it, had it transferred, and had it ready for me. They even delivered it. Truly amazing customer service. I have gone to this pharmacy for years and after today, I will never step foot in the there again. I get my same prescriptions every month and I was just made to feel humiliated and embarrassed by a pharmacist who has never helped me nor does he know anything about my situation! The service through the years has gone down tremendously and I not only stayed loyal but I referred people there constantly. If my dr's and insurance company are okay with my medicines, a young, egotistical, pharmacists should have no place to cause problems and make a patient in pain feel worse than they came in feeling. I wouldn't take my dying animal back here. read more

Unreliable and inconsistent service. I needed to fill a prescription for my dog who's dying from Cushings and also has other medical issues. I am very disappointed with the decline in service from Porter Ranch Pharmacy. I transferred my dog's prescription to Porter Ranch Pharmacy from Valley Drug and Compounding. Porter Ranch offered me a better price and is closer to me. Good service for several months. In April I called in a refill a week before I ran out of pills. When I went there several days later, I was told they hadn't gotten an OK from the vet's office, but no one bothered to call me or the vet. I was told I had to wait until the next day to pick up the prescription. In May I again called prior to running out of pills. This time I told them they had to call the vet for a refill. A week later I was in the neighborhood, and even though I hadn't heard from the pharmacy, I went there assuming the prescription was ready. I was wrong. I was told the vet's office hadn't sent in the OK yet. I told them I was totally out of pills. The pharmacist made two pills for me to take with me. I called the vet's office when I got home and was told that no one had called to request a prescription until that day. In June I again called before running out of pills. I asked them to call the vet and get an OK for the refill. I asked them to call me when the prescription was ready. I didn't hear from them for a week, so I called and left a message for them to call me. No call. I called them a couple of hours later. I was told they hadn't yet received a fax for the prescription. I told them that I was all out of pills. They said they would call the vet. They also told me to call the vet, which I did. The vet told me the last time they had a call from the pharmacy was May 7. When I didn't hear from the pharmacy I called them; they said they hadn't gotten the prescription. I called the vet to see if they had sent the prescription. I was told they had called the pharmacy right after they spoke with me. They told me they would send another fax. Later, I called the vet's office to make sure they had sent the second fax. They had. The next day I was told the compounding pharmacist would be in and the prescription would be ready in the afternoon. When I hadn't heard from the pharmacy, I called to make sure my prescription was ready. I was told the pharmacist was unable to make their flight and wouldn't be in until the next day. I cancelled my order, called the vet's office and asked them to call in a prescription to the original pharmacy. Less than ten minutes later I got a call from the pharmacy letting me know my prescription would be ready at 3 P.M. the next day. The next morning, while I was out, Valley Drug called to let me know the prescription would be ready earlier. read more

DON'T GO! If you want competence and efficiency, don't go to this pharmacy. I waited ten days for a simple prescription. After numerous calls and callbacks and five visits they canceled my prescription without my permission , never having received the full medication! After a consultation with a supervisor from Caremark I moved all prescriptions to mail order. I will never shop at this store again. read more

It's been 4 months and I am completely satisfied with this pharmacy. I was a victim of the new health care law and though my insurance company was incompetent the pharmacist gave me my medications and said he would work it out with the insurance company. It took my insurance two weeks to fix there glitch but the pharmacist said it was more important for me to take my medications than worry about payment, it was fixed they were paid and earned a customer for life. read more

I saw a CBS/UC Irvine Health public service TV announcement regarding a free "Test for Life" kit. The participating pharmacies were part of the "Good Neighbor Pharmacy" group. Checked online to find one nearby and Porter Ranch Pharmacy was the closest to my home. I decided to call first and see if in fact they had the free kit available. I spoke to Brianne on the phone. She was very helpful and knew what I was talking about. She checked to make sure they had the kit available, which they did. Hours later I drove the 9 miles to pick the kit up. The location was new, clean and well organized. Brianne was at the pharmacy counter. She remember my call. I asked if I might get two kits and she kindly obliged. Quickly done and I was on my way. Remember this was a free kit, so no profit for the pharmacy. Purely a community service endeavor. Granted, this was a limited encounter with this pharmacy but first impressions go a long way. The experience was first class. Could not have gone any better! read more

I have been going to Porter Ranch Pharmacy ever since it first opened. Phil, the owner, has been the best thing that has happened for my health and well being. Kevin has taken over for Phil as Phil has had some need relaxing and Kevin has filled Phil shoes perfectly. I have 2 rare genetic disorders and they have not only helped me with finding the right medications but have supplied me with the right medical tools, such as a mini scooter, that has made my quality of life so much better. If I need a special supplement or over the counter (OTC) medication they will find it for me,, order it, delliver it the next day and for the best price they can find! But the best they do is deliver all my meds for free!!! Unbelievable right? Like who gives that kind of great service these days? Plus he has given his time to some of my friends who have quick questions. Only Phil has this kind of good heartedness.. I can't move away from here because of this Pharmacy, gas leak or not Porer Ranch Pharmacy is my life saver. Too much praise you say, you must be special, you're just a long time customer. .....then go stand in line with all the other people who will wait a long time to get their meds and needs met from this place.
