When my wife and I first drove over to Porterville Lanes, we thought it had closed down due to the lack of signage and the funky exterior. I had to walk up and try the door to see if it was unlocked. It was, so we went in and were immediately transported back to the 1970s--or so it seemed. The desk clerk told us that the lanes were built 25 years ago and nothing seems to have changed since then. Still, though the place looked dirty, overall, the lanes were in excellent shape. We each bowled a set and had fun doing it. The retro atmosphere is nice and reminded me of my semi-pro days in the early 1970s. When we went to pay the very reasonable $6 dollar per game fee, we were surprised that they only accepted cash, so beware. We had enough to cover the costs, though, without having to use the convenient ATM standing nearby. read more

Horrible customer service a bar patron had to tell the lady to help us she rolled her eyes and seemed upset even though we were the only customers she made us pay before and returned to the bar after we finished she made us pay again and argued that we didn't pay before .. I didn't want to make a scene in front of my kids So I just payed her and will never return.. I played here as a kid and it has gone downhill nothing has improved or been remodeled since ... The customer service was okay, not welcoming at all. You pay for the rental of shoes first which was $10 bucks for two pairs. We're weren't told how long we can bowl for so we played four, got there at 8pm. It wasn't busy much, very well lit inside, couldn't find a okay bowling ball(most didn't have numbers) and I liked the old school style. After dropping off the shoes then you pay, it was $54 bucks so $64 total. She used a chart on the table next to the register to price it out so I'm not sure if $54 is for the whole day or how many games or maybe the time. Honestly for the price I think I'd rather go to Bowlero, save about $20 bucks or more plus they have deals too and a season pass depending on how much you bowl it might be worth it. I didn't get any food, didn't go to the bar, no drinks and didn't play any other games so I can't say anything about that. But I did notice people playing pool so that must be functional at the least. read more

Despite the negative reviews. i decided to check it out for myself. apart from the weird service. I loved the retro look. Air hockey table kinda sucks. But overall thank God i did NOT get rude service like most of the reviews. read more

If you're buying your own bowling ball - the gentleman that drilled my holes was OUTSTANDING!!! Finger placement couldn't have been better. Gonna bring the grandkids and get them their own balls too. Worst bowling alley I have ever been to. Horrible customer service the lady at the front desk was completely rude and so was Donny who treated me and my wife like we were children and yelled at us when we attempted to fix a pin that came flying down the lane all the way to the line. Also the place was dirty and nasty garbage everywhere. Honestly surprised that the place is still in business. If negative stars was possible would put negative five! read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. Donny, one of the workers, treated me like a child when one of the pins got stuck on the lane. He yelled at us for trying to fix it. His (and everyone just in general) customer service was terrible. Go here if you feel like getting yelled at and if you want to come home smelling musty like their old ass building. Place is ok my kids had fun. Been coming for years since this is my towns only bowling alley. It does the job but I have never been here and be greeted with a welcoming attitude. Staff is always so dry and serious. Yesterday I was looking for some songs to play on the touch tunes app and I was surprised that they had filtered out ALL of the Latin songs with Spanish words. read more

They don't accept debit cards and I had no clue,the guy at the register rudely told me that the card was over there and kept pointing to the ATM . Like just tell me you don't accept cards. This is the second time I've came here and one of employees (night shift) happened to be rude cutting me off brew knowing I just had 1 beer, also kicking me and my brother out 1 hour early before closing time, knowing they close at 12 telling us " We can only play 1 game of pool and that's it" We had just got there too! what kind of customer service is that. It's a pretty good place to bowl considering it's the only bowling alley in Porterville. Some lanes tend to have some problems, even the score board. But it's pretty fun! The service. They help each Time you call them over. Don't seem to give attitude towards people. Drinks are pretty good. Snacks are good as well. And overall. Place is pretty good. The woman who is working this Monday afternoon, October 8th 2018, is awful she kept turning down the music saying that a league is coming in when we have been here for hours She treats us all with such disrespect that I can't see how anyone comes here more then once. The bowling bowls were hard to obtain on a weekend night. The shoes didn't fit right but otherwise a good experience. Fun for the family and bowling is always relaxing. I hope they can revamp the space soon to make it a bit newer so that it I can go in evening times. read more

Bald white guy at the front desk was extremely rude to my friends and I, he tried lying about what time they closed when we called ahead so we didn't come in too late to inconvenience him and started sighing and getting annoyed whenever we wanted to bowl around 10:30 when they closed at 12. Can't really complain I guess, it's the only place to bowl in town. They are nice enough once you get to know them. The machines are getting kind of old, they are not the easiest on your balls. I have noticed I have to clean my ball more often when bowl here. It is one of only a couple places you can go to shoot some pool and hangout in Porterville. They have a okay selection of liquor in the bar but unfortunately have no beers on tap. read more

The bowling was okay but the place smelled like Cigarettes and Pee. The bathroom was very dirty and some of the handles were broken. The door at the top was full of dust and mold. The bathroom doors were very hard to close. read more

Me and my friends had a bad experience here last night. The male employe that rents the shoes was very rude. We let him know that the computer that keeps the score was not working right, but that it wasn't a big deal for us because none of us are all that good. But we thought that they should know. He told us that we could drive to Cloves and pay $15 a game there if we didn't like it here! Needless to say I will not be going back to this place and I will let others know that they shouldn't waste their time at this bowling ally! Came from out of town for a great night with the fam. 15 people and 6 of them were kids still being charged as adults and shoe rental! $105 for all 15 of us. West lane bowl in stockton, ca didnt charge us for any kids shoe rental and plus the kids has kids prices. I will never go here again when im in town. read more

Went with a group of friends yesterday afternoon. Staff is very rude and not welcoming. I don't know if I plan to ever bowl here again. Our screen glitched and messed with the scores, my friend went to go explain this to one of the staff and was yelled at for no reason. We did not appreciate the way we were treated.
