Porticello's has always been a restaurant that's been close to my house, but I've never actually been in. Tonight was my second time going with a good friend of mine who is considered a regular there. Pollyanna was our waitress and did not disappoint. She was amazing and attentive and had great customer service skills from the start. She was our waitress both times and has been extraordinarily friendly and is a huge asset to this restaurant. She is the reason I'm giving this review a five stars. Both times I got the same dish, which is the chicken Sorrento and I got it over spinach instead of mashed potatoes and vegetables. It did not disappoint. The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is chic. The bathrooms have been very clean both times. I do recommend making reservations as this restaurant doesn't open until 5 PM. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who's in this area for dinner. If you do go, I recommend you asking for Pollyanna. read more

Spur of the moment decision for dinner here and we couldn't have been happier! I ended up here for dinner with my husband and 15 month old after being in the area and seeing they had a reservation open. The staff were excellent with our daughter and so friendly. We started with an old fashioned and specialty cocktail, both were excellent and warranted a second. The octopus starter was tender and very tasty. The kids ravioli was a great portion and very tasty. Pasta was all homemade and very tasty. I had the PACCHERI ALLA BOSCAIOLA and the meal was better than I expected. Pasta was perfectly al dente and a good amount of sausage, mushroom and garlic. Husband had the chicken and homemade noodles and he also ate the whole plate. I hate posting negative reviews, but this place earns a whopping 2.5 stars from me. We went for dinner, and the service was mediocre - a bit surly, quite honestly. I ordered the chicken piccata, and ended up with a very lean plate of under-under cooked pasta and four meager pieces of chicken about a quarter inch thick, and about an inch and a half in diameter. Quite honestly it was like an American Airlines portion. Very disappointing. Not terribly expensive, but it was not terribly cheap either. I've been there twice, always detested the odd shaped parking lot. Have not been back since the Chicken Piccata Episode. read more

We sat at the bar, both bartenders were on their phones way too much. My soup was served with a big fly floating right on top. I'm thinking maybe get off your phone and pay attention to what you are serving before giving it to me. Was brave enough to try another, had to wait way too long and it was awful. Scallops were good and I ordered cheese cake to go. Again another long wait, the bartenders on their phones again. I finally spoke up and one of them walked around the corner and picked it up. Obviously it had been sitting there the whole time. I'm thinking they should have compensated me and I expressed this to the bartender. Her response and I quote "that's just how we do things here". Stopped in for a quick dinner at 5:30pm on a Tuesday, craving Italian classics. The warm crusty bread service is great and dipping oil was yummy. I ordered the carbonara because it was made with guanciale (pork cheek) vs. pancetta (pork belly). I'd have liked my guanciale a bit more crisp, but it was a delicious dish, especially finished with cracked black pepper. My friend enjoyed the chicken parm with spaghetti. Our server, Paula, was very friendly and attentive. The interior dining side was comprised of neat tables but the bar looked like an equally inviting space with high tops. We have been a few times since moving to this area recently. Jackie is a Fantastic, friendly bartender. She always has a smile on her face. However, the other evening she could have used some backup as the bar and tables were very crowded and she had her hands full. Amazing from the time I walked in and the hostess said happy anniversary to us because that was our special occasion when we made our reservations for 615 and we're spot on time. We sat down we got a wonderful waitress that was outstanding. Her name is Danielle when I come back again I will ask for her. She was outstanding customer service impeccable. She suggested the appetizer she said that the chef had them all taste the warm ricotta with bruschetta before opening . It was amazing. I usually wouldn't have ordered it but I was so impressed. Danielle said you're really gonna enjoy it and she was absolutely correct. I had the chicken Parm outstanding. My wife had a special with the tips and the grilled shrimp and scallop on a bit of lemon risotto that was out of this world. Full disclosure - My meal here was covered by a company, I didn't pay for anything, and we had a private room for dinner. I was here a few weeks ago while visiting Massachusetts. We came for dinner on a Friday night, and the place was almost at full capacity. The ambiance is pretty intimate - the place has a low ceiling, dim lighting, and candles at the tables. It definitely feels like a nice date night kind of place. The wait staff was attentive for the most part. There were a few points where I felt we didn't see anyone for a while, but it's understandable, it was a busy night. The menu is pretty big, and I'm not huge on Italian food, but a lot of the dishes sounded quite good. I ended up going with the chicken and broccoli, and for a drink I got the Porticello Old Fashioned. Both were great. I really like old fashioneds, but I always order it with some apprehension. It's a very, very simple drink but unfortunately a lot of places manage to make it poorly. Fortunately, this was not one of those places! Here they make their old fashioned with rye instead of bourbon, and they add in a slash of soda instead of regular water, or just ice. It came out well. I really enjoyed it. Ditto for my meal. The chicken and broccoli came with penne pasta, in a sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The portion wasn't huge, but it was just the right amount to make me satisfied with the meal. It didn't have much going on in the way of presentation, which isn't a big deal at all, but just something I noted when I got it. I normally wouldn't go out of my way to get Italian food, but honestly if I'm in the area again, I'd probably swing by here for a meal. read more

I have been to couple of places that consider themselves Italian, this restaurant is not on my favorite list. First the interior had a musky smell and when asked to seat outside the waiter mentioned that the bugs are out and if you feel uncomfortable with the seats we would move you inside. Next we were the only guest sitting outside. Odd And with that we are left isolated from the waitress and the rest of the restaurant. So seriously how do you kill a customer experience . Food was good but prices were a bit high. I know we are in a recession but. Make a deal would be great. If a restaurant owner wants to be high end establishment replace the silverware between courses. the Italian food was So/so. And in the end I would not recommend a establishment that leaves the customer unsatisfied. A restaurant atmosphere is part of establishment and a major reason for customers to come back. read more

We have been here many times. The food was delicious and the service was excellent however we were served the smallest glass of wine we have ever been served. It was no more than 3 sips. If I'm ever craving a good pasta dish, this is one of my go to's. I always order the fra diavolo and I'm never disappointed. The seafood tastes fresh and it has a delicious spice to it. The clam chowder is good but a bit salty. The drinks are hit or miss. Sometimes I like em but usually I'm not over the moon. Porticellos tries to be a fancy restaurant, but it lacks elegance and artful food. The interior is outdated and when we arrived the air freshener was sickeningly strong. I ordered the lamp chops which are always good. My boyfriend ordered a steak that was overcooked. My mom ordered the special ribeye, but when the steak came out it was not in fact a ribeye but PRIME RIB. My mom did not seem to care as she likes all types of meat, but it was very startling that a fancy restaurant would mislabel a type of meat. Overall I like it here. They have pretty good food. Food was great and so was the service, however we did have a problem with false pricing. The website listed inaccurate pricing in comparison to what we were charged. We looked at the online menu before arriving and based off that pricing we ordered La Crema Pinot Noir. When we received our bill and were charged $15 a glass. I pointed out to the server that the website advertised $13 a glass. She said oh that is inaccurate let me ask Mario if he will adjust the price for you. I assume Mario is the owner but we were not sure. When she returned she told us Mario said he will not honor it. If we knew we were going to be charged $15 a glass for a wine that cost $20 a bottle in stores then we would not have ordered it. It felt extremely rude that management or owners would not honor an advertised price to loyal customers. I certainly will not be supporting this business in the future Update: another family member visited the same restaurant and checked the pricing on the in restaurant menu and it was also listed at $13. It is illegal not to honor advertised prices.... probably should update their menu or honor what they are advertising to their customers. Shame on them read more

My husband and I had a great experience here! We won a free date night and as such ordered from the date night menu. This also included a bottle of wine. The Cabernet was the perfect start to our dinner along with the bread and dipping oil. Our food came out pretty quickly. My husband had the chicken parm and I got the baked schrod. My husband said the chicken parm was really good and cooked perfectly. My baked schrod was also delicious! The food was definitely a selling point! I flew in from Florida this afternoon and was picked up at Logan by my daughter. I flew up to attend my great granddaughter 1 st Birthday celebration this weekend. We planned to meet my Grandson his wife and my great granddaughter for dinner. We Arrived at Porticello for an early dinner @5:15 pm. We were greeted initially by a pleasant greeter then by our wonderful server Pollyanna.We ordered a nice bottle of a Pino Noir. I ordered a Bolognese on fettuccine which was delicious tons of meat which I loved. My dinner companions ordered Chicken Piccata,Seafood fro Diablo and a Roast Chicken dinner. Everyone agreed all our dinners were great. Our little munchkin waved to all the diners around us and enjoyed a little of all our meals. The young family left with her still waving and smiling which is great for a baby that age. My daughter and I stayed for a lemon cello and a not to be missed desert of a cannoli which was one of the best I've ever had , and that's saying a lot I've had my fair share of cannolis in the US and Italy. Outstanding Takeout Experience. We live 15 min. away from the restaurant so takeout can be iffy but each dish was perfection when we got home. We ordered the twin steamed lobster special - so fresh and so sweet and came with drawn butter and lemon wedges. We also had the chicken parm, a mediterranean salad, and the linguine vongole replacing the linquini with gluten-free penne for me. All was perfectly prepared and tasty. Number one, you NEED a reservation. Don't bother if you don't have one. The parking lot is crazy but they have valet parking. If you don't mind valet go for it. If you want to park your own and don't mind walking a bit, park at the building next door. There's a walking path to it. The drinks are amazing. The espresso martini is a must. It's on the creamy side with a cinnamon sugar rim. Seriously tasty. We had the antipasti and stuffed eggplant as an appetizer. Both were delicious. The prosciutto wasn't a bit stringy and the eggplant was thin, not mushy. It's terrible that I forget what it's called but that's to blame on the two espresso martinis on an empty stomach. It was a pasta dish with clams and it was scrumptious. Pass on the chicken Parmesan. It's mediocre. The chicken is a bit too thick and the cheese thick and not quite melted enough. The sauce on it was bland. I plan on going back to try the lobster raviolis. Someone nearby had them and I had awful food jealousy. This was our first time trying this restaurant, and I don't think we'll be going back. Granted it was a very busy night, the calamari was overcooked and there wasn't much sauce to go with it. The food here is very bland and isn't fresh, the Salmon is horrible and their so called specialty chicken piccata is even worse!. Olive Garden is much better! We just moved to Norton and this restaurant was recommended to us. Last night was our second time. Food is great! Wait staff very good. The only complaint I have (which is not a deal breaker but maybe a recommendation...hint hint) is that the Reisling they carry is the worst I have ever had. Maybe a nice J Lohr.
