    This is a smaller shop but so much to do in the area! I loved how clean and crisp everything was! Sadly I did not find any unicorns at this location but I did walk away with a Milan crossbody in Cowboy blue and matching tassel!

    This is a candy store for purse lovers! Along the wall are racks of shelves with handbags in various styles and in all colors of the rainbow! yes, they have the classic black and cognac leathers, but why not add a pop of color to your day with Cabo blue or poppy orange? It just makes me happy. All crafted right in Portland, the leather is scrumptious. The bags are not lined, keeping the cost down. My favorite style is the cross-body Poppy. It's on the smaller size, but holds all your essentials and works with any outfit. Lots of wallets, coin purses and other accessories. In the back there is a rack with an assortment of "almost perfect" bags at a discounted price. definitely worth pursuing this area! They post on Instagram daily (I follow them) and sell online, but since I'm local, I love stopping in the NW 23rd store so I can touch, see and try on the various bags. The staff is welcoming, friendly, but never pushy.

    This is the smaller store of the two in Portland. For some background, I am a out of town visitor (visited in the summer), and I became a big fan of this brand just in the past few months--I have accumulated multiple Portland Leather products via online orders until now. So admittedly, I did stroll into my first store experience as a very wide-eyed and biased fan. I didn't notice any attitude from the workers but my more attentive friends did unfortunately. They also noted the lack of greetings and felt that they didn't really want to help. I did notice that staff weren't super knowledgeable when we asked them some questions. They didn't bother to then seek the answer via internet or ask another staff member. It's not the worst experience ever, but I definitely think there is room to grow in the customer service department. Although this is the boutique/premium store, both of my friends (new to the brand) noticed small nicks or small stains on the bags they were interested in. I would consider these imperfect bags "AP (almost perfect)". That was pretty disappointing considering this store is low in inventory and supposed to be premium leather only. In case any other out of town visitors are wondering the same thing, I did not notice any "unicorns". But the other store in Portland has many unicorns and AP products (it's also much larger). I still love the rose bag tassels that I was able to get in debut day and I use them often- I also gifted one to my mom to go with her koala bag.

    While it's going on like 15 yrs now since I haven't eaten cow, I certainly love buying and wearing it. For me, it's about quality but it's also about that leather smell I only get from cow and no other animal. And Portland Leather gives me both. The first time I stopped in with my daughter when she started living in PDX back in '18, I immediately fell in love with Portland Leather's workmanship, simple- straightforward styles, prices and of course, the scent. This NW 23rd Ave location is narrow but it's filled with a little bit of everything. Service this second time around is still great and never have issues. If you don't see a particular color on the shelves, you can either go online and order or just do it here. Plus their website usually has these coupon blasts which I enjoy.

    Bag arrived in damaged condition. So disappointing.

    I love Portland leather goods. I've bought many for myself, friend and family. I am not sure what is going on but this order was really poor. I purchased this item to give as a gift. Portland leather had a freebee incentive which I selected. Portland leather had a new program requiring you to pay an insurance fee in the event of lost goods or need to return. I did so. The order did not arrive. Portland leather said it was delivered and to check with neighbors. I did. No order. It took over a month to get the bag. The date I needed for the gift had long since passed. When the order I arrived, there was a charge for more than twice what I had paid AND the bag was defective. I am attaching a photo of the defective bag. Poorly made. Unresponsive customer service. Charged twice. The second time more than the amount agreed to. Every time I try to contact Portland Leather, they give me the run around. Fill out this form. Wait. No way to speak with a human being. Such a bummer. Again, I've bought more than a dozen bags from Portland Leather. In the past they had great products and great customer service. I hope this is not a trend. So sad when a great company shows signs of decline.

    I really wanted to love Portland Leather. But when the zipper immediately got stuck inside what they call the "dark hole," the experience turned into a headache. I reached out to customer support thinking they'd be understanding. Instead, I got a long, overly detailed explanation on how to maneuver the zipper "just right" to get it unstuck. I had already tried all of that. Nothing worked. The zipper simply wouldn't budge. Along with that I had someone use a tool the first time this happened and they got it unstuck. But I couldn't get the tab to not be in the "dark hole", I would have to cut the seams to get it through. So eventually the zipper got stuck again. After I explained again that the zipper was completely unusable and clearly defective, they still wouldn't offer a return or exchange--just suggested I find a tailor or cobbler to fix it myself. Seriously? For a brand new $98 purse? They did offer a merchandise credit if I went through the hassle of getting it professionally repaired and sent them a receipt. But honestly, I shouldn't have to go out of my way to fix something that should have worked right out of the box. If you get a flawless item, great. But if there's even a small defect, expect a frustrating, dismissive process that puts the burden on you to fix their quality control issue. I won't be ordering again.

    Long time customer, disappointed with their customer service. I found out about Portland Leather Goods through their online store. I've ordered several bags through them. I love their stuff. When I visited the actual store, it was great. It was nice to see each type of bag to see if it is a style I like. They offer premium bags (highest quality), almost perfect bags (minor errors), and UNICORN bags! The unicorn bags are unique bags that you cannot buy online through their online store usually. The smell of the store was heavenly Leather. Being a long time customer, I was shocked that the customer service was quite poor. That's why they get a 3 star. These bags are excellent quality. There are so many styles to match with different types of outfits and occasions. Their prices are very competitive compared to other leather purse stores. They source their leather from Mexico which is a high quality leather.

During…read morecheckout, I entered the WELCOME30 code I had used before, but it didn't apply and my order processed at full price. I understand that WELCOME30 is a one-time-use code. That's not the issue. At the time, Portland Leather was running another promotion, SUNNY25, which would have given me 25% off. In their response, they acknowledged that if I had entered that code, I would have received the discount. I contacted customer service immediately after placing the order to either cancel it or have the current promotion applied. Unfortunately, there is no option to cancel an order and no customer service phone number to call, so email is the only way to reach them. Their response was that they could not make any retroactive adjustments. Instead, they offered me 600 reward points toward a future purchase. Considering they admitted I would have qualified for the 25% discount, this felt like a very inadequate resolution. Portland Leather seems to have a sale running almost constantly, which makes it feel like the sale price is their actual everyday price. I like their products, but the lack of flexibility and poor customer service left me very disappointed.
