So let me say with certainty and confidence that Porto Pizza & Grill blew me and my expectations away. I'm an Italian Jersey born boy who's had the privilege of living in one of the pizza capitals of the world, being close to New York, New Haven and Philadelphia. Ive had the luxury and ability to sample all of my favorite pizza styles and variations, so I'm proud of my standards and tastes when it comes to Pizza. Delaware is NOT a state where I've enjoyed pizza and Italian food in general, but my goodness has my faith been restored by Porto's. As soon as a I walked in, the vibe and ambiance screamed "authentic" and "soul." My family and I knew we were in for a good meal immediately. The margarita pizza is easily the best pizza I've had the pleasure of experiencing in the entire state of DE and arguably most spots I've frequented in NJ and NY. The owners really put pride and love into their food, the service and the business as a whole. There is absolutely a lot of life this place has to offer and you can count on me returning again. My family and I will back to extract more of that fire from the people, the pizza and especially those hot burning ovens. Pizza was very good. i had sausage and pepporoni. others had broiled seafood trio, ravioli with meatballs and seafoid scampi. No complaints. Good looking desserts but we were full. We went back for a second time and again, impressed with the value and portions. I ordered the slow roasted turkey dinner which was generous and could not be finished. My wife ordered the chick parm and it was huge. My buddy ordered two crab cakes and said it was different from other places with little or no filler, with large chunks of crab meat. He could only eat one of the two. His wife ordered shrimp scampi and they prepared it even though we couldn't find it on the menu. The salads that came out were huge and freshly made. I ordered the crab soup which has a kick to it with the bay seasoning, but it really is THAT good. Overall, boxes to take home and we left stuffed. read more

I called for a reservation on the occasion of my husbands surprise birthday . It was for 9 people . A couple I had invited arrived 15 minutes earlier . She was surprised no table & seating was prepared for the 9 people invited . She was the one who instructed the staff what they were supposed to do . We all feel ( women most specially ) the staff of the manager & staff should make an effort to prepare a table & make it a little Festive for a celebration !!! Table cloth & napkin is that too much to prepare as a voluntary gesture ? This will result more costomers to select your restaurant as a venue to celebrate special occasions ?? read more

We stopped in here for lunch. In this small not quite at the shore town in lower Delaware, there aren't many options other than many chain. We were pleasantly surprised by Porto Pizza. The parking lot was full with lunch diners on a winter weekday but there were still plenty of open table inside. Service was good but a bit slow as they appeared to be understaffed considering how many tables were full. The waitress nonetheless was doing her best and literally breaking a sweat. The specials of fish and chips and the crab cake were generous. Fish was fried well with a light coating. The crab cake was large and broiled but could have used a bit more seasoning. I so once loved this place.. but after dealing with them on bad food, I will never go back. I ordered onion rings to go, after getting to my destination, approx. a mile or so down the road, we started (2 others and myself) eating them, but we found that they were burnt. WAY over cooked to the point they were hard. I called and stated what was going on and I was told that they are cooked a little longer for the "to go" orders as they will soften. Well, that wasn't the case. They were HARD burnt. The following day, I took what was left (me and another put ours back in, the other threw his away in the dumpster and I wasn't going to chase it) back to the place as stated I would. They looked at it and started to chat together. I did not want to replace but instead, I ordered a chicken salad wrap and paid the extra (overpriced to start with @ $16.50) but it was whatever. I wasn't buying for anyone else that day. The owner came up to me and said that is how they cook them. I have eaten inside before, they have NEVER been cooked like that. He started to be an ass to me "i don't mean to insult you, but I have been cooking for 23 years, I know how to cook"... well sorry bud, you're wrong if you think that over cooked onion rings are how it's done. I can show you how to cook as I was a REAL chef YEARS ago. Can always tell those that never went to a REAL Culinary School. Just because mom taught you, doesn't mean it's right. The owner is beyond himself and couldn't admit defeat. Other than that, the food is hit or miss. I used to get their fries but the price didn't change much, but the quantity went down. The portions are smaller. The pizza is about average, nothing to jump for joy about. I personally like Papa John's better. The servers are very nice but inattentive. You are lucky to see them twice the whole visit. I will not be returning here. I also pulled my business from ordering here for our bulk orders again. We found a new place. read more

Have been wanting to try this place for awhile now. I had heard good things about dinner but to avoid breakfast. Our server took our drink order and even repeated the order. Came back to table with water and one soda., said he'd be back with the other drink. Came with salads and I still didn't get my drink, I asked about it and I was told I didn't order it. Really? The side salads were very fresh and a sizable portion, balsamic vinaigrette was tasty. Dinners arrived to the table before I finished my salad. Two average sized meatballs on a huge mound of sauce and spaghetti. The sauce was very thick with what I think was pieces of eggplant in it and other veggies. Not the best tasting marinara for this Jersey gal. Spaghetti was drained properly and cooked perfect. The meatballs unfortunately were of the frozen variety , could tell by the way the taste and meat rolled up when breaking into it. The garlic bread was also the frozen kind. Seriously disappointed! I wish I could give this restaurant more stores but I could have easily given it less. Although the server was friendly and prompt and the dining area looked clean, the food that we ordered which was a chicken quesadilla, spaghetti meatballs and the salad were less than satisfactory. This is our second visit here. The chicken quesadilla was more like a chicken cheesesteak on a tortilla shell, the salad was just okay and the spaghetti and meatballs were lousy. The spaghetti sauce and the meatball were unedible. If they only put as much effort in the food, It would be a win. This place is always busy so I'm not sure what people are ordering, maybe the pizza but if the spaghetti sauce is this bad I can't imagine the pizza sauce being any better. We were here in the town to see a movie at the old Clayton theater And it seemed convenient to stop here for dinner. read more

All I can say is WOW, The Burger was Perfectly Cooked (and Seasoned), The Bacon was Thick and Crispy And the Fresh Baked Bun was Outstanding. Now the Fries on the other hand........
