Portofinos is a local Charlotte chain with 5 locations throughout the city, and as far as I know this Uptown location is the newest one. While most of their locations seem to be more traditional sit down restaurants, the Uptown location is more catered to the fast paced lunch crowd. When you walk in you will be greeted by the large glass display showing all the different pizza options and yes you can order by the slice! They have traditional options like pepperoni and cheese, some crowd favorites like Buffalo chicken, and chicken bacon ranch, and even some square Sicilian slices including a vodka slice that I heard is quite good. While you order at the counter they will give you a number and bring your food to you. In addition to pizza they offer a variety of sandwiches and pastas. On my most recent visit I wanted to try their cheese steak, but I wasn't sure how large the sandwich would be so to be safe I order a slice of pizza as well. That was a mistake, the sandwich was quite large and came with chips, and their pizza slices are also quite large. It was good but I was stuffed afterwards so learn from me! I'm glad to have more options for pizza by the slice in Uptown, my one gripe is that the pizza is on the pricier side, $7.00 a slice. That's the Uptown surcharge for ya.

    Spaghetti and bolognese

The bolognese was an awful, salty mess that they packaged very poorly. Ive never tasted spaghetti this bad.

A painful update after a poor grandma pizza left a bad taste in my mouth. The sauce on top was extremely watery and slid right off the pie leaving an okay cheese pie underneath. Disappointed that the quality of the regular pie doesn't extend to other specialty pies.

Stopped in here with the kiddos to grab lunch before going to Discovery Place. The pizza by the slice options were plentiful, and the little one wanted plain spaghetti with marinara which she raved about. Service was friendly though you just order at the counter and wait for table delivery. Ambiance was very chill and relaxed.

I was recommended this place by a friends and it wasn't bad. I went in with a few friends and the inside was nice. The service, specifically the bus boy Evan, was very good and the food wasn't bad but I honestly didn't really like the cheesy steak. They have a lot of options on the menu though so I plan to go back and try a pasta which looks a lot better.

I have gone here a few times for the different flavors of pizza and I've never been disappointed. Their ingredients and so fresh and delicious. The inside of the restaurant is always packed but their service is always good. The restaurant is very clean and smells great!

This place is no frills, order at the corner and they bring your food to your table. They have a wide selections of pizza available by the slice as well as pastas, etc you can order. I ordered spaghetti bolognese and garlic knots. I found the bolognese sauce to be a little heavy on the wine. The garlic knots, however, we're spectacular. I would highly recommend getting them. Staff were fairly friendly. The seating area is fairly small but it was adequate for the amount of people dining in when I was there.

Had a chance to visit this new restaurant and it looks like it will be a staple. This popular restaurant has a grab and go concept, which is different from their other locations. However, even though you place your order at the counter and seat yourself, they bring the food to you and even clear the table when you are finished. So it's not a full service restaurant, but they do more than most fast dining establishments. I decided to venture from my normal vodka sauce selection and ordered Alla Panna with shrimp. It was good, but maybe a little too salty? The shrimp were huge and the sauce was creamy. I had a little regret for not ordering the vodka sauce but probably because I can be a creature of habit. We had garlic knots which were amazing! They were seasoned perfectly, with plenty of garlic and butter and fresh out of the oven. A dozen was plenty and the sauce was tasty too. I think this is the perfect addition to uptown and I can't wait to return.

What a great little place for this Philly native! Cute restaurant with casual dining room but takeout available too. Order at the counter, sit down with your number and your food is brought to you. I passed this on the street and was intrigued so came in for a cheesesteak. It was cooked perfectly (watch that first bite! Burned my mouth!), bread was fresh and the lettuce was crispy! The chips that come with are a nice touch but aren't anything special, plain potato chips. The pizza looks good so may be back to try before leaving town!

The absolute best NY style pizza I have eaten in the south. Nice thin crust, very flavorful slightly sweet sauce, with the right amount of cheese. Cooked to perfection.I definitely recommend checking this place out. I will be returning in the near future.

So good, it's SO GOOD! Super crispy crust, I'm a Detroit style pizza guy myself but it's making me rethink my choices... seriously... game changer.

Solid pizza, not too expensive given 2025 prices. No ranch needed, and the crust was both soft and crunchy! Not huge NY slices, but bigger than fast food pizza slices. About $5.50 each.

Review for North Italia…read more has absolutely become one of my staples in Charlotte.** It's located in the heart of South End--a trendy, energetic neighborhood with beautiful outdoor dining--and one of the biggest perks here is easy parking, which, as any Charlotte diner knows, is always a win. Inside, the restaurant is gorgeous. Think large, comfortable booths, warm lighting, fresh flowers, and a lively but polished atmosphere. I always make a reservation through OpenTable--I'm too old to be waiting around to eat, and I might as well rack up some points and perks while I'm at it. One of the things I appreciate most about North Italia is their seasonal menu. It keeps the experience fresh and thoughtful, and you can tell the kitchen is paying attention to ingredients and timing. I usually start with a glass of wine-- a sparkling rosé or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc--something cold, clean, and refreshing. Bubbles are always a good option for me. They serve a delicious focaccia at the table, which I sometimes indulge in, but the dish that truly stands out--the one I still dream about--was a seasonal ravioli with butternut squash and crispy sage. It was beautifully balanced, comforting, and memorable in the best way. Other favorites: * The Caesar salad--perfectly dressed * The arancini and calamari--always solid starters * The pizzas, especially the cacio e pepe * And yes, the desserts are absolutely worth saving room for Brunch here is also a lovely experience. Sitting on the patio, eating alfresco on a sunny Sunday, reminds me so much of what I loved about California--being outdoors, enjoying great food, and taking your time. Thankfully, there's plenty of shade, so it's comfortable even on warm days. They do offer a happy hour. It's not the most extensive in town, but it's perfectly fine for drinks, a pizza, or a charcuterie board with friends after work. What keeps me coming back: * Consistently good service * Clean, beautiful space * Thoughtful seasonal dishes * Easy parking * Reliable quality Yes, it's a bit upscale--but it's approachable, welcoming, and dependable. And when a chef takes the time to create seasonal dishes that appeal to diners with curious palates, that deserves recognition. Bottom line: A polished, reliable favorite in South End that delivers great food, beautiful ambiance, and a consistently enjoyable dining experience.

No server ever greeted us or brought water to the table. We watched the tables around us get cleared and cleaned and the server pick up checks from two other departing parties. I'm patient (used to work in hospitality), but when they brought out a bowl of water for the dog with a couple that was seated after us that was too much!! You served the dog before us?!?!? No thanks.

My daughter did have an issue with her meal last night, and it was handled very efficiently by management. We went last night for my daughter's 21st birthday. I'll start off also by saying not just was the service- just average - the dinner was also just average . Pasta was the highlight here .delicious The negatives---I'll start w the salad - noticeably wilted in areas I ate around but didn't come close to finishing it . We asked for more bread - was never brought any . He completely forgot , I won't "name names" but he seemed to be new (er) we've never seen him before , I often dine here w colleagues during the week . This however was a date night . Expectations are higher for weekend nights imo . The waiter was rushing us a bit - his overall vibe wasn't the typical waiter we've encountered here. I was still eating and he asked if I was done or needed a box. Literally not even half the food was gone . Just not the type of waiter you'd expect at this level of dining . It's not an affordable place it is definitely for special occasions or where I am impressing a client etc . Really missed out on not having some bread to dip in my sauce . A woman just kept walking around ? Weird to me . She asked how the food was . I'm not one to complain while I am eating so we said good . The chicken was a little dry though and the food overall extra salty? Not really enough sauce just a lot of cheese . She also noticed we were out of bread and didn't offer more ? she literally just kept walking around . It was odd. In the past we have felt very welcomed , waiters have been very knowledgeable to explain things so you know what you're ordering , they have left us alone to enjoy the ambience, they have offered to refill our glasses early on (not when we are finishing up ) Just was like a C rating so I felt the need to let the manager know . Maybe it is under new management? Maybe they recently lost a bunch of ppl bc I don't see any familiar faces fm 6 mo ago . We typically go every 3 mo to one of the locations and spend 100's of dollars x it's not a quick meal type restaurant. So to made to feel like it is was really sad x
