Not gonna lie, this place was a vibe that I really loved. I sat outside on their patio. This was during the day maybe like 4pm on a Saturday and it was shockingly empty, but it quickly got busy there. I think we had just missed the crowd. Their patio is so fun, the street you overlook is pretty chill so there weren't a lot of cars or noise. The area has good enough traffic for decent people watching, that's always fun. Our server was so funny and cool. I wish I could remember his name, but he was having a good convo with the person I was with about basketball and it was just really nice. It felt like I was home on my couch hanging with friends. It's such a cool chill place. I loved the pizza, olives app and the old fashioned. It was nice to actually meet the owner too, he is the person who greeted us when we walked in and he was really nice. This place just seems like a good neighborhood spot. Yes, I just snuck downstairs to snag some leftovers So, I have a huge event planned at NJC Jay St 5/2 and decided to go check out the venue and parking sitch. As usual, we sit at the bar and though they don't have a huge IPA selection, they did have a fav. Although the Blanco looked appealing, we are meat peeps and go for the Starsky. Notes: Be prepared to wait. I am usually a 30-min max, and then I'm out person, but the decor, vibe and music was so chill in here that I was just enjoying it (one couple even bought a deck of cards, as they were used to the wait). Also, Alia one-manning the bar and making each customer feel like the only customer was an added touch. Out comes the pizza... Alia asks if we wanted ranch dressing. This is where I looked at her 3 heads and asked "who eats ranch with pizza???" but since she said it is house made, I asked to taste it. Best decision I've ever made (sorry Blanton, but dating you was an afterthought...). This pizza was crispy where it needed crisp. It was cheesy, meaty and saucy in all the right places. I could not stop raving about the restaurant and Alia, so she decided to bring the owner, Steven out to meet us. What a darling! Really enjoyed this spot! We popped in on a weeknight and it was easy to walk in. Also easy parking in the lot! The patio has a beautiful view of the city, and if it's a pleasant day, that's hands down the place to sit. There's also a bar area and a good amount of tables, some with booth seating, inside. They have a full bar which is great, and the kitchen is open so that you can see your pie being made. I wasn't familiar with the Roman pizza, but tried and it was delicious! Gave it another chance as the quality of food is always amazing and we wanted pizza. Had a reservation under OpenTable and were promptly seated, but similarly promptly ignored for over 20 minutes (no exaggeration). This includes my husband gently reminding them that we had not even received water, to which the hostess said she would "take care of us" with nothing for an additional 10 minutes. Newly opened pizza spot in my neighborhood so I figured I'd give it a try. Being a New Yorker I am very particular about my pizza but they had so many other options on the menu we decided to try. We had a reservation and were immediately seated. The place was pretty busy for a Wednesday, they had nice music playing and all the staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Buratta as an appetizer and it was amazing. The pesto wasn't overpowering and it was just the right quantity for an appetizer. My husband ordered the luau pizza minus the jalapeños and I ordered the meatball sandwich that came with a Caesar salad. That Caesar salad was the star for both of us! We shared my portion and even ordered a small one to go! He totally enjoyed his slice of pizza and even had half to take home. Sorry if that seemed like an asshole move on my part, so please consider installing some purse hooks for your purse carrying customers. :) SERVICE - The bartender who served us could not have been less interested in being there. The drinks she made were very good, but her customer service skills could use much improvement. We stopped in during a weekend day, right at opening time. We saw that they won 'top 50 pizza places in the US', so we want to check it out. It is a redeveloping part of town in West Charlotte. There is a lot of construction and new building going on the area. So we were happy to see part of Charlotte having new life breathed into it. Our server clearly didn't want to be there. She never smiled or even so much as a 'hello', and we had to wait a while for her to even come over to our table and take our drink order. This pains me to say as i had really high expectations. I found the food to be under seasoned. I usually find that pizza is salty, in this particular instance it was under. We had 3 pizzas, The Rosemary, the one with mushrooms and meat, and the margarita (which I didn't try). We also got the sauce flight, meatballs, and olives. The olives were great, I didn't try the meatballs I didn't hear anything from my party that they were good or bad either way. The sauces in the sauce flight just left me wanting a bit more flavor. The ambiance is great. The atmosphere is casual but the lighting and music steps it up a notch. I entered through the side door next to the cashier area. We were not greeted as we walked in. The other members of our party were already seated. The restaurant was steady but not busy. Max and Tifff were our servers. Max was amazing and I was surprised to hear that he was new. He made great menu suggestions since it was our first time. I can tell that he is patient because the person training him spoke a lil abruptly to him but he just brushed it off. I have noticed that people can be exceptionally well at what they do, but not as good at training someone else to do it. The food came out slowly, but I can see that the kitchen was extremely busy because they were getting DoorDash orders out. The salads were fresh and delicious. I ordered the rosemary pizza with thin slices and it was enough for three people versus one. I didn't have a drink on this visit, but my friends did. I was told that the drinks were good but not as sweet as they prefer me on the other hand, I can appreciate a good drink that is not syrupy! What is Roman style? Technically, instead of the traditional tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, Roman-style pizza is often topped with a variety of ingredients such as cured meats, vegetables, and even eggs. The possibilities are endless, and each slice is a unique and delicious creation. This one in particular, instead of a pie, since we ordered two slices, was sort of a ciabatta bread with all the toppings on top of it. Following my first visit to Pizza Baby I have to say I'm pretty impressed. Housed in a former warehouse the space has an elegant industrial appeal, and despite the name this isn't strictly a pizzeria. They have an open kitchen where they serve up burrata, bacon wrapped dates, and many more culinary delights. You can tell they take their food seriously. Their pizzas come in sizes of 18" and 12", and since I was rolling solo for this visit I elected to order a 12". They have some creative ideas for pies, but I was feeling a bit basic so I decided to go with the starsky which is their take on a meat lovers but asked them to hold the chilis. The pizza was very good. I certainly and curious to go back because their wings looked phenomenal and so did their meatball sammich. They also have a location in Elizabeth known as Pizza Baby East so I am curious to see if it is a similar concept or has its own identity. It was the bare minimum, a very small portion, and incredibly salty. The 14 inch pizza was only $4 more than the salad. We got the Cali Pizza. It was pizza. Ranch was also unimpressive.
