Very clearly the best late night pizza option in Charlotte. May just be the absolute best pizza option period. We stopped in here for a weeknight late bite when our options were somewhat limited. Thankfully at that hour, street parking in NoDa wasn't too bad, we got a spot just off the main drag. Slices here are GIGANTIC, one is easily about 3 standard slices of pizza, or two normal NY size slices. We got a pepperoni and a cheese. The pepperoni had nice kick to them and the cheese was a high quality. You had to let the pepperoni grease drain onto your plate a bit, but that is expected. The thing that makes both slices so good is the garlic butter bath all around the crust that you can see them doing in the kitchen. Not just that, but the texture in the crust will make even non-crust lovers think again. You're basically left with big doughy garlic butter breadsticks. Definitely a 5 on taste. My only complaint, and I'm sure it is partly by design to keep people from staying long, the stools you can sit on to enjoy your pizza inside the restaurant are THE WORST I have ever placed my derrier on. Even for 15 minutes, it wasn't just uncomfortable, it was painful. It took me a couple blocks to start walking correctly again. Might as well just get rid of them and have people stand to eat. Service was good and the friend that helped me order was kind and answered all my questions. The interior is in the smaller side with only a few barstools so be prepared to potentially take your pizza on a walk. I was excited to try a slice of dairy free cheese (slices available Tuesday and Wednesday only) but found the slice a little lackluster. I got class cheese (dairy free) and a slice of veggie and added chicken (breaded chunks that were kinda sliced) my mistake that I didn't look at the slices before leaving because I would have asked for more cheese. My gripe with getting dairy free cheese (anywhere, not just Zambies) is the lack of cheese even when next to a "normal" slice. So we came into town late did some yelp searching and found Zambies was open. The slices were huge, with plenty of toppings, they have pizzas done up and on display so you can see your choice of selections. We got 3 slices to split pepperoni, great Gatsby (special pizza), and sleeping beauty. Along with 2 can sodas. Our only complaint was the flavor of the pepperoni hubby felt it was pepperoning enough for him. We got some ranch and baby let me tell you that ranch set the balsamic on the other so well. We ordered Zambies late a few nights back after a concert and were super excited to give it a try. Prices are a little high but the size of these slices and flavor was well worth it! We ordered 3 slices and the dessert knots. The rotating slice was the Great Misteak which was basically a Philly steak on pizza, but was pretty tasty. We got the Sleeping Beauty which had a cherry pepper base, topped with red peppers and onions and a balsamic drizzle. This one surprised me with how freaking good it was. I was skeptical at first, but once I bit into that crispy crust I knew we made a good choice. The last slice we got was of course a pepperoni. I looooove a pepperoni pizza that has the little cup pepperonis on it and this was loaded with them. Just an overall great slice. We got the pookie sauce and ranch to dip as well. Both were great and perfect for the crust to dip at the end. The dessert knots were so so. We wished they had a little more of the maple cinnamon sugar and maybe had it swirled throughout the knots because it was unfortunately just a ball of dough on the inside. This place has been on my places to eat for a while & Saturday was our first time trying it. It did not disappoint! As we were walking up we passed many people eating their pizza and knew we made the right choice. The line for ordering moved quickly and our slices were ready within 15 minutes. There were a few mini tables to eat at but we took ours to go. The slices are huge with the most amazing crust! We decided to try four kinds: The Padroni, The Pioneer, Sleeping Beauty and Buffalove. I enjoyed both the Buffalove and Sleeping beauty. On Sleeping Beauty, the balsamic drizzle gave a nice sweetness but expected to taste the white sauce more. On Buffalove, it was just really difficult to hold the slice due to the weight of the toppings; but still tasty.
