That's right! A second review! Spoiler alert: they're still a star! Capishe is possibly THE BEST bang for your buck in all of Charlotte. I highly recommend their pastas. My personal favorites are: the San Lorenzo and the Rigatoni w/ Chicken. The fresh noodles are so chewy and al dente. And the pasta sauces are absolutely delicious. The San Lorenzo has sweet peppadews and caramelized onions, while the Rigatoni w/ Chicken is packed with mushrooms. As for the free pieces of pizza bread, they're perfect! Interesting quick service italian restaurant serving a variety of menu items including pastas, pizzas and salads. They also offer a variety of desserts in a glass case and rotating flavors of gelato for purchase. The restaurant itself is very pretty with a mix of high top and low top tables. They have string lights strung up on the ceiling and garage style doors that were open when my group went which allowed for a nice breeze to run through the restaurant. I ordered the linguine carbonara which was delicious! The pasta was perfectly al denté and the sauce was flavorful and yummy. I only wish the pancetta was not cooked so hard as some pieces were a bit hard to chew /crunchy in an unappealing way. All of the pasta dishes come with bread, initially envisioned garlic bread or a breadstick but it was actually small squares of what could best be described as pita bread? Which felt like an odd addition and was not very good. I ended my meal with a chocolate chip cannoli which was delicious as well. The perfect amount of filling with a nice texture of the added chocolate chips. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my pasta and dessert and the service was quick and efficient. The one star is purely - because I can't do lower and it was walking distance to better places. I had really high hopes for this restaurant but was vastly disappointed. Based on some of the pictures and the overall rating that this restaurant has, I was expecting an upscale pizza/pasta place. We went on a Tuesday afternoon around 5pm and there was only one other couple there besides the people at the bar. It is a counter service - as in you order and then get a number pick your own table and the plates/utensils/drinks are all self serve. They do ask for a tip after paying and if it's your first time here it's kind of a trap as you're unaware of the lack of service . We paid around $30 for a large pizza and two drinks. This is a reasonable price if the food was quality and it was upscale. The booths are also peeling which again is not the atmosphere depicted for this particular spot. The pizza itself was fast but after trying it, I could see why. The only thing that was good on it was the crust. It had little to absolutely no sauce, the whole thing was covered in cheese which was thick to chew, and the pepperoni were just stacked as if they hadn't even been pulled apart to place them. It was also very greasy and the basil on it was burnt which you can see in the picture. It was comparable to a gas station pizza or lil caesar's - which is fine but not for this price point. Besides ordering, we were never asked or talked to in any way about our meal. There was also plenty of staff at least 7-8 people and only four customers seated (including us). Overall, I would say this is not the place you think you're going to and SKIP! read more

Wow! I came into this meal expecting a 4 star meal but I was happily surprised how great this pizza was. I got the San Lorenzo and the flavor combination was incredible. I need to start making this pizza at home - the sausage, sweet peppers, and onions worked so well together and really brought this pizza to life. I also did the Spicy Marinara Wings and they were good, but not amazing. I would have preferred them more crispy, but with oven roasted wings that's what you get. I'm going to try a dry rub next time, maybe it'll be a better texture. Overall I gotta go 5 stars because the pizza was that good. read more

I must admit that my expectations for this restaurant were sky-high. I had seen incredible reviews and wonderful photos (especially of the pizzas), but I was disappointed and in full force. Let's start with the positives: a very pretty place, interesting decor, and beautiful pastries in the window that make your mouth water just by looking at them. Now for the points of concern: the furniture is very worn out, with a torn sofa, scratched and dirty tables. It's a very large space but clearly underused. We ordered a spicy Calabria and prosciutto pizza. The prosciutto pizza tasted ok, but I must admit that the prosciutto didn't seem to be of good quality and looked like lean ham. The spicy Calabria pizza was impossible to eat. We like peppers, but the level of it is so strong that you lose your taste buds. Each of us could only eat one piece and we left the whole pizza on the table. Unfortunately, there really was no way we could keep eating. The price is good, but I don't think I would go back because it didn't surprise us. read more

I write this begrudgingly since this is actually one of my "go to" places for take out. I have gotten lunch here numerous times and have always been happy with food, service and price. I hope this last experience was a one-off but got dinner last night.. the place was packed due to a concert in uptown. Ordered the "chef's special" of shrimp scampi and coke.. all in about $24. Pick up was quick as usual but when I got home, discovered there was NOTHING scampi about the dish.. there was no sauce (i.e. flavor) other than the "juice" of the pasta and minimal veggies. The entire dish was bland. Also no side pieces of their wonderful bread that has always been included before. I was also disappointed there was no option for the side Italiano salad which I love.. only the full size for another $9. Just overall not a good experience. read more

I enjoyed the light crust, that bufala mozzarella was something special!! Nice garlic flavor, as well. Service Exceptional! You order at the front then pick an area to sit. Sat outside with it being mild weather outside and they bring the food to you. We asked for napkins and plates and they brought those, also. As soon as we were done eating, they cleaned up the table immediately. Ambiance Indoor and outdoor seating make it a great place to take in the city sounds with great company. My friends and I ordered take out from here for dinner. We ordered the Margherita pizza, rigatoni with chicken, and the San Lorenzo pasta. All were delicious! The pizza is a thinner Neapolitan style crust with fresh ingredients. The rigatoni came with mushrooms and a light cream sauce which was not too rich at all. Really comforting. The San Lorenzo came with sausage and was pretty spicy! This was probably my favorite one. Even the free breadsticks that came with the order were fluffy and warm when they were delivered. Food came out hot and on time. We also ordered a side salad that was good and plentiful. As for the carbonara pasta while the presentation was great, I wouldn't order again. It was very bland and lacked flavor especially in the noodles. Sadly I spent more time adding Parmesan and pepper to dress it up but still didn't do the trick. I tried to get the grease off with napkins but even so it was so floppy and tasted like it was soaked in grease. The salad was fine. Also, it is counter service and they flip the screen around for you to tip. I tipped my regular 20%. When my salad arrived I asked for a fork and the lady bringing the salad told me I could get my own fork across the restaurant. You order at the counter when you walk in, take your order number, they bring out the food to you, and you leave your dishes at the table. The pesto pizza was sooo greasy... it leaked through the box and onto the seat of my car, then when we tried to eat it, it was literally dripping with oil. We couldn't eat it and had to throw it away. The cake was missing the whole front part, as if it was attached to another slice when they cut it. This is truly a hidden gem. I was visiting the hospital nearby and was looking for a quick bite to eat and stumbled across this place. When you walk in, you order immediately and you're given a number and they bring the food out to you. I got the margarita (sp) with meatballs. Everything is made to order and the pasta is homemade!
