Who knew the toughest reservation to get in CLT would be at a small pizza joint??!! It took a little creativity to score a reservation, and even then it was still a couple months out... but we finally made it to Bird this week. Recognized by The New York Times as one of the best pizza spots in the U.S., the hype is definitely real... even if we're still debating whether it was two-months-in-advance real LOL. It is a small cute spot inside, NYC style. Some people don't like sitting so close to other customers, but I enjoy small intimate restaurants. As for the food - pizza was delish (love that they have beef pepperoni), but the viral kale Ceasar and buttermilk ice cream on the olive oil cake stole the show. I will say review that bill well once it arrives. We saw we were overcharged for drinks, our waitress put the tab of our next door table on ours. We did go back inside before leaving to get it straightened out, and they were nice about it. Service is good but a little slow when it came to getting things like extra napkins, drinks, etc.....and I could tell some waitresses were a bit more attentive to their tables vs. others. Definitely would return, but maybe more so just to pick up a pizza at the outside window and take it back home.

We ordered the Grandad and a pepperoni. The sausage is house-made and the pepperoni is beef. That's a plus for me. And it was SO good! This is a combined rating. It was a 5 for me--excellent flavors, limited specialty menu, FRESH Parmesan, great crust. A 4 for my husband who wanted a tad bit thicker crust, and a 3.5 from our 16 year old who said hers was a tad too greasy and she wanted more nonalcoholic drink options beyond sparkling water and Coke. We still reheated leftovers in oven and still perfection for me. There isn't much signage, on the building or the pizza box, which seems to be intentional. I like it. Gives if-you-know-you-know vibes. You can eat indoors, which is pretty small and very loud, but so cool. Def get reservations, because they fill up FAST! To-go is also option, and they request that you order ahead on their website, and you can eat it on their outdoors tables, if you choose.

Party of 4 to Bird Pizza. We made the reservation back in February so we were excited to go. This was my and my niece's second visit but first for my boys. Reservation was a 5:30. The line outside was already pretty long when we arrived. Most of the people on line were walk-ins. Not sure how many got in as Bird Pizza is very popular. The restaurant is small but they have a full service bar. If you are alone you could sit at the bar and eat. The Kale Caesar was huge and amazing and the pizza was excellent. We ordered cheese pizza - nothing special but it was! We got hot honey to accompany the pizza which added additional flavor. Check them out. You will really enjoy Bird Pizza.

Tried Bird Pizzeria for the first time and it absolutely lived up to the hype. It's officially in my top three pizza spots in Charlotte. My order was ready right on time, and the atmosphere was chill and low-key--perfect vibe, especially with Sam Cooke playing in the background. I'll definitely be back plenty of times, but I've gotta say--the kale Caesar salad is a 10/10. I'd recommend that to anyone without hesitation.

I had a reservation for 8:15 p.m., but I noticed Google indicated the restaurant closed at 8 p.m. I called the number listed, which turned out to be incorrect and actually belongs to a law office. So, I decided to head to Bird Pizzeria about an hour before my reservation, hoping there wouldn't be any issues with seating. Thankfully, the host was understanding and able to seat me. I ordered the kale Caesar the serving size is generous and definitely enough to share. The OG pizza was phenomenal, and the portion sizes for each slice are fair. Also, whoever is in charge of the aux cord you have an awesome playlist. You were the reason I was vibing with my food and Tito's lemonade.

Great pizza, great friendly service, great desserts and a must try. Thin crust and so airy. We had the kale caesar salad of course and it was really good and flavorful (I'm not a kale fan but this was good). We then had the White pizza with the guanciale, the OG (spicy) and the grandad. The 4 of us devoured all 3 pies!

Third or fourth time here and it has yet to disappoint. At this point it's a staple. We had reservations on a Friday night which was the right call -- it was busy but never overwhelming, and the low lighting and music kept the atmosphere exactly where it should be. Always a vibe in there. Our server Imoni was attentive and personable throughout. We both went with the Grolleau for wine -- not too dry, very easy to drink, good choice for a pizza night. Started with the famous kale Caesar salad. They were generous with the portion today and it came out warm, which was a little unexpected but not unwelcome. Personal tip -- if you have leftovers, that salad is even better the next day after sitting in the fridge overnight. Trust me on that. For the pizza we ordered the Grandad, no sausage, with hot honey. I asked for the hot honey on the side but it came on the pizza directly. Not a dealbreaker flavor wise, but it does make the crust soggy over time so if you're particular about that, make sure to emphasize it when ordering. Either way the pizza was amazing as always. Bird is consistent and that's exactly why I keep coming back.

We came here on a Sunday when they were only doing takeout. Very happy that we were able to try as their dining room reservations are very difficult to get. I imagine it would been an amazing experience because the food was fantastic. We arrived just as they were opening and just placed a take out order through their website and it arrived in decent time. We got the kale caesar which was the best kale salad I've ever had. Amazing texture and flavor, very fresh and the cheese and dressing added a lot. The pizza was a pepperoni with hot honey. It was delicious, the crust had great texture and the flavors were amazing. It was a fairly topping light pizza, not a ton of sauce or other toppings but very delicious. Would absolutely come back! Thanks!

Went to Bird Pizzeria after seeing all the hype online. I wasn't going to wait however long it takes to get a reservation, so I decided to go early as a walk-in. I got a little confused with the hours and arrived at 4:30, realizing the dine-in restaurant doesn't open until 5:30 (only the To-Go opens at 4). I waited in the car and got in line first at 5:15. Once they opened 15 minutes later, the host seated us almost immediately. It's a small spot but has a very 'date night' vibe. We ordered the Kale Caesar, of course. For something so simple, it was definitely one of the best salads I've ever had. Our server was delightful and very kind. The pizza was definitely an 8.2, just like Dave Portnoy gave it. Overall, 10/10 experience here.

Went after hearing about this place on a podcast and on the internet. The pizza was delicious. We had it fresh and then later cold and it was great both ways. Staff was friendly enough and the crowd waiting was chill. Def would NOT order online as it was not done on time despite ordering it hours ahead. Seems the best way to go is to get there right away and order at the window for the most effective way to order if you want it to go. Would have loved to dine in and try the salad and see the vibe but didn't have time. Tasty local spot and would stop if in the area and had time to spare.

Bird Pizza completely lived up to the hype. We started with the famous Caesar salad, and it was somehow even better than it looks. I still think about it. Truly one of those dishes you crave long after the meal is over. The pizza was just as delicious. We were walk ins and about fifth in line, so we had roughly an hour wait. We left and came back, and they seated us at the bar with no issues. The place is tiny, but they use the space so well and the experience never felt cramped. We were genuinely impressed with everything from the food to how smoothly they handled the crowd. We will absolutely be back.

Tried Bird Pizza tonight for the second time and walked out feeling pretty split. The first time was take out and my wife and I felt we had to give it another try but dine in. The kale Caesar and the white pizza both looked great, but something in the flavor just wasn't landing. Not bad... just missing that little spark that makes you go "oh yeah, that's it." Presentation? On point. Taste? Ehhh, close but not quite. We also left the restaurant still smelling like the restaurant, plus a little napkin residue situation. And the lighting could definitely be better. Between that and the volume, it's giving "cute spot, but not the vibe to linger." On the flip side, the staff was super friendly and accommodating, and the prices were actually pretty reasonable. Overall: good vibes, solid service, decent food... but still looking for that wow factor.

Pepperoni and hot honey for takeout

Okay, the pizza slaps. Yes it's hard to get a reservation. Go to the window, scan the QR code to order a pizza online, wait about an hour (go walk to optimist or Rosie's Wine Garden), but it's worth it. I'd love to go back and get a reservation to dine in, but I really enjoyed the hot honey and pepperoni pizza to go. It's nice that there is so much in the area so you can kill time while you wait. The staff were also so friendly! Definitely recommend.

I'm 15ish deep in line for the dining room to open. A reservation is impossible. How many walkins do they usually accept?

We stopped in here for a weeknight late bite when our options were somewhat limited. Thankfully at that hour, street parking in NoDa wasn't too bad, we got a spot just off the main drag. Slices here are GIGANTIC, one is easily about 3 standard slices of pizza, or two normal NY size slices. We got a pepperoni and a cheese. The pepperoni had nice kick to them and the cheese was a high quality. You had to let the pepperoni grease drain onto your plate a bit, but that is expected. The thing that makes both slices so good is the garlic butter bath all around the crust that you can see them doing in the kitchen. Not just that, but the texture in the crust will make even non-crust lovers think again. You're basically left with big doughy garlic butter breadsticks. Definitely a 5 on taste. My only complaint, and I'm sure it is partly by design to keep people from staying long, the stools you can sit on to enjoy your pizza inside the restaurant are THE WORST I have ever placed my derrier on. Even for 15 minutes, it wasn't just uncomfortable, it was painful. It took me a couple blocks to start walking correctly again. Might as well just get rid of them and have people stand to eat. Terrible. Almost knocked a star off for it, that bad. Regardless of the world's worst stools, I would come back for more pizza and just plan on not eating it there.

Because the hot stuff ain't no joke- I have to turn down the spice by mixing the two. Then it's like the best Sweet and Salty you can dream of then the heat kicks you in the face in the best way. To top it off don't even think about leaving before you have one of their brown butter chocolate chip cookies! They are ridiculous and a must. The reason we came in to order to-go was because we weren't happy with the Door-Dash delivery of same last time. The pizza just didn't travel well. This time with our to-go order it traveled a bit better and was fresher. We think it would be even better (4 stars) if we dined in. We also had a nice salad of mixed greens with dried cherries and the like, but it didn't come tossed. The dried cherries were in one corner, the onions in another ... you get the idea. Tossing would have made it easier to eat on-the-go. But the service people were very nice, and the store was clean and roomy with a semi-open kitchen. We'd give this place another try next time when dining in.

The waiter was efficient, not friendly but not unfriendly either, just doing his job pretty much. Would have been nice to have him check on us once or twice but again not the biggest deal. The pizza: my son really enjoyed it and gave it a 5/5 and hubby ranked it a 3/5. He thought the crust was a tad too soggy. Side Caesar: 3/5 had some pieces of the lettuce that should have never made it in the salad and the dressing was just okay. Morty: also a 3/5. Too much arugula, we took some out and then seasoned the rest with s&p and some crushed red pepper flakes. It just lacked a depth of flavor and the bread and arugula overpowered it. The seasoning helped a bit. I even added garlic aioli based on a review I read on here but I didn't taste it. The pasta salad it came with also lacked flavor, though very green and appearing loaded with flavor it was not. And when eating it, the texture was very gummy. Didn't finish that. Overall, it was okay but I'm not likely to return just because there are better options based on the things we tried. But taste is subjective and it just wasn't our vibe today. But check it out for yourself because we only tried three things and the pictures of the other pizzas do look amazing. That is all!

Their patio is so fun, the street you overlook is pretty chill so there weren't a lot of cars or noise. The area has good enough traffic for decent people watching, that's always fun. Our server was so funny and cool. I wish I could remember his name, but he was having a good convo with the person I was with about basketball and it was just really nice. It felt like I was home on my couch hanging with friends. It's such a cool chill place. I loved the pizza, olives app and the old fashioned. It was nice to actually meet the owner too, he is the person who greeted us when we walked in and he was really nice. This place just seems like a good neighborhood spot. If I lived closer I'd probably go a lot more often. Great spot!!

Review for Pizza Baby…read more After a relaxing Vinyasa yoga class and sound bath at The Coterie Wellness one evening, I found myself hungry--and conveniently, Pizza Baby had just opened in the same complex. Perfect timing. Since it was still new, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and I decided to grab a table outside. The outdoor seating was lovely--relaxed, comfortable, and a great way to unwind after a wellness session. I'm a sucker for thin-crust pizza, especially when it's hand-tossed and thoughtfully prepared, so one item immediately caught my eye: the rosemary pizza with hot honey. Sold. I added Italian sausage to the pizza and paired it with a fresh green salad (I can never resist a good Green Goddess dressing). Yes, it was a little on the pricey side, but the quality matched the cost--and I was genuinely pleased with my choices. The crust was thin and flavorful, the toppings were balanced, and the hot honey added just the right touch of sweetness and heat. This is definitely a place I'd return to--next time with friends--so we can share a few different pizzas and appetizers and really explore the menu. A few practical notes: * Parking is generally easy since the restaurant shares a lot with neighboring businesses in the complex * There are several nearby spots, including a wine bar and entertainment venues, which make the area feel lively * There was some early parking congestion when a nearby church held services, but the situation has since been addressed with signage and coordinated parking solutions It's nice to see businesses and community partners working together to make things run smoothly. There's also another location of Pizza Baby that I plan to visit, which speaks to how positive my first experience was. Bottom line: Great thin-crust pizza, pleasant outdoor seating, and a convenient stop after yoga or an evening out. A solid addition to Charlotte's growing food scene--and absolutely worth checking out. And if you're already in the area for a class or wellness session, it makes for the perfect post-workout reward.
