Every time we come to this convenient restaurant we find that the food and service improves. A rainy night and not in the mood to cook at home, so there we were, Portofino's. Good server, Aryanna, will never gain weight as she is constantly moving and sincerely tending to the needs of her multiple tables taking care of things with her genuine desire to make your experience special. Thank you Aryanna. I had Shrimp Scampi ($19.70) on linguini pasta (you can choose your pasta) and a small salad with house dressing. All one price. It was excellent...no need to "get a box". Wife had Tortellini Alfredo ($18.95) with Italian dressing on her side salad, and she did need a box, as the portion could easily feed two people. We two had the left-overs for lunch the next day. No extra charge for the fresh baked, warm, basket of rolls or a clean, well-served, table. They do have a separate pizza business that punches out some really good pies. Can order by phone and pick up to take home, or sit, order and eat inside. Plenty of parking as Portofino's is in a shopping center. read more

Ordered 3 pizzas online and picked them up in person. Got 2 large, one pepperoni and another with sausage/mushroom/bacon. Also got a Sicilian. Fed family of 8 with several left over slices. My fave by far was the sausage/mushroom/bacon - so good!! The bacon flavor really came through. The restaurant is nice inside and had a screened in patio too. Got takeout on Saturday night - everything was ready early which was awesome. I loved the beef ravioli (add spinach and mushrooms for some veggies!). Husband had the baked ziti - huge portion! First time here for my daughter's birthday. To our family this was a big deal.. Most of us ordered Ceasar salads but they were all served with mozzarella cheese. It didn't make any sense at all. It was rather disgusting to have but chunks of wet cheese on top of a Ceasar Salad Additionally the only Parmesan T they have an available is the powdered one that are sitting in jars on the tables. Tonight my wife and I ventured out to Portofino's . It was one of our favorites when we lived here. Tonight we were accompanied by our son and two grandchildren. Besides the pizza and one hotdog the food really wasn't that good. The atmosphere was live and they were busy, but that being said my sausage was cold and undercooked. First off, our waitress was nothing less than excellent. She was wonderful, caring, and quite awesome. As for the food - that's where it goes downhill. My daughter had the Arrabiata. After two bites, she was pretty much done with it. I tasted it and it was def not good. Rather than thinly sliced bits of prosciutto, as one would expect, it was more like a blob of terrible tasting prosciutto. I ordered the Antipasto salad. It wasn't anything to write home about. Though it was beautiful when it came to the table, the flavor was not good, and again, I feel like the prosciutto is just horrible quality. As for their Italian dressing - they should really be ashamed of that - it's terrible. Honestly, every time we've eaten at the Arboretum Portofino's in Charlotte, it has always been great. Really great service and food. After reading the reviews we avoided this restaurant for a while. My son and I went in for a quick meal and it was really a treat. The pizza was hot, fresh and delicious. I couldn't decide on a pasta dish and the server basically explained that they can put together any combination as they make your dish to order. Came here for lunch a couple times. I love that they have such a wide variety of pastas to choose from, not just the toppings and sauce, but also the type of noodles. You can choose between cappellini, linguini, fettuccini, penne, or spaghetti for all of your classic Italian pasta dishes. It would be nice if the options included a side salad or soup, or at least for a lunch combo, but instead, these come at an extra charge. The salad is nice, but it's not really worth an extra $4-5. Also, a lot of the menu items on the lunch menu seem just as pricey as it would be for a dinner item. Regardless, I did still enjoy my Shrimp Scampi ($15.95). It came with 5 juicy, gigantic pieces of shrimp and TONS of tomatoes. I have never seen so much tomato served in a shrimp scampi, nor have I seen such large chunks with it - something to keep in mind if you are looking to avoid heartburn. The Tiramisu is worth trying too. It's a great size to share and overall, it was pretty good. Only problem was that ours was heavily dusted with cocoa powder, which is very dry to swallow, so it caused me to choke every so often. read more

2nd time to visit with my friends dinner date couples. We are super upset it took almost close to 1 hour waiting for our food to come, and then the servers keep coming to our table asking are you guys doing alright maybe 3x to asked, and we were answered waiting for the food to come for 3x to answered that question. Went on a double date dinner before a movie (which was in the same parking lot) and was absolutely blown away with the quality of the food. I had the veal Gorgonzola. My wife had the Stromboli. The couple we went with had a Hawaiian pizza and the chicken pasta special. I was blown away at the quality of ingredients and how authentic the food and service was. This was our second visit to this restaurant. The food and portion size was good, and service was wonderful. The place is very nice and clean. My only complaint is that the lasagna did NOT have any ricotta cheese in it. It was a little surprising to me being of Italian decent (we love our ricotta!). The meat in the lasagna was a little too ground up for the me and flavor wasn't there. It may be a personal thing for me; but this is an Italian restaurant and I am not sure they even use garlic in this recipe as I didn't taste it at all. We made a reservation for a party of 10 that was later changed to 12, 2 or 3 days beforehand. When we arrived and started being seated we noticed that there were only 11 seats crammed around a long corner table that only had enough room for the server to stand at one end of the table for communications and service. The 12th seat was provided by simply cramming in one more to a table that was already too small. We were later given the option to be reseated but as packed as the place was, it seemed even more of an inconvenience. Given the circumstances, I would say the service was as good as it could be and the food and drinks were accurate and timely.
