We visited That's Amore after reading some reviews and looking for a good Italian dinner that was new to us. We made a reservation because we weren't sure how crowded it would be on a Saturday night. Reservations weren't really necessary as the place was not busy. We weren't sure the dress code either, hard to gather from their website. We went business casual but we could have just done in our Saturday afternoon casual as it's not upscale but neighborhood comfortable. The decor is honestly pretty bland. Everything was just gray and there were no pops of color anywhere. The lighting was cool and the wine wall was nice but it just didn't have much character. We were greeted quickly by our server who was polite but not overly friendly. She gave us the drink specials and we got started with a few beers. A runner brought a basket of warm bread and butter which is always a nice start. We ordered the garlic bread and the zucchini fritti for appetizers. They came out quickly and presented nicely. The garlic cheese bread wasn't very garlicky, had more of a rosemary flavor so it wasn't our favorite. The zucchini was shaved and had a nice flavor. Because it was so small it was kind of hard to eat. I like my zucchini with some ranch and we asked for some and kind of got a weird reception from the kitchen staff. I mean we are in the south people - ranch is a staple! For entrees we tried a few different things. We had the white pizza, the chicken francese, the chicken crusted Romano, and the sliced beef rib cut. All the dishes came out warm and with nice presentation. The pizza was the most lackluster. It was just average and did not have much flavor. The crusted chicken Romano was a highlight with a nice flavor from the vodka sauce. The other two dishes tasted good but were nothing amazing. The mashed potatoes were the best side dish. The roasted potatoes were a bit on the burnt side and lacked any real seasoning. We had an overall pleasant experience but will not rush back to this spot. If you are in the neighborhood I'm sure it's convenient but if you want a great Italian meal this would not be my recommendation. read more

It's been awhile since I've been here for dinner. When I arrived the hostess was very friendly and took me to my table. She also greeted my friends as they arrived. The server was very friendly and efficient. We got our orders in a timely manner. I had the Ravioli Chicken & Spinach Alfredo. The ravioli was very good the Alfredo sauce was very tasty, but some of the pieces of chicken tastes burnt. Overall the experience was good and I will give it another try. read more

We celebrated our Grandson's Baptism with a luncheon in early December. We met earlier to discuss the menu etc with the cater manager. She also hosted on the day of our party. Everything went smoothly from start to finish. All our guest 25 of them raved about their food. The menu we chose left many options for our guests. Oh my god. The salmon with the potatoes and vegetables was the best meal I've had in ages. The tiramisu? Again, oh my god. I assume the service is amazing based on the packaging and timeliness of my delivery. Overall, it was just "meh". The reason it isn't getting one star is the staff, they were friendly and efficient. The food was pretty disappointing, especially after we had people build it up. I'm not sure we could even say it was a bad night, the flavors were all just wrong. We ordered the bolognese and chicken & shrimp piccata. The bolognese, which describes prime ground sirloin and short rib but it tasted like cheap ground beef in ragu. A massive disappointment. Nice location right over the SC line in a small shopping plaza. Outdoor seating with heat lamps but we sat inside. Small bar with 5 seats. Somewhat small parking lot but you won't have a time finding a spot. I ordered lobster ravioli. It was alright. Nothing to get excited about but it was ok. The bread did not come with olive oil -missed opportunity. The waitstaff was very nice and the food came out in less than 10 minutes after I ordered. Really nothing exciting to report here. If you want to sit outside and watch cars drive by this is a good place for that. I will likely go back because it's close by but it will be a long time before I do. read more

Food was delicious and wish we had found this before now since it has been open since 2018. Restaurant is off 521 near Bridgemill and in a small shopping center. Accidentally saw it when looking for new Target and Costco which is across the street. We had appetizer with fresh ricotta, prosciutto and it was wonderful. We had shrimp fettucine alfredo, and it had homemade fettucine and sauce was not overpowering. Then, we had shortribs with garlic mashed potatoes and it was mouthwatering. Have been here about six times in the past year. Great food, including pasta dishes (lasagna, ravioli, chicken parm) and fish (cod oreganata). Warm fresh rolls. Great friendly service from Mary Beth, too! Owner is friendly and gave us free garlic knots, which were excellent, the last time we were here. Good wine selection, including excellent Chianti. Nice outdoor seating, and very comfortable indoor seating, too.. Parking could be clearer since the main entrance is not directly seen from the parking lot, maybe there could be dedicated spaces closer to the entrance? Had an excellent night out here recently before we played a round of mini golf nearby. While the exterior of the restaurant is unassuming located in the corner of a shopping mall, the inside is beautiful. They have small well kept bar off to the side, and the centerpiece is their large open kitchen complete with a seriously impressive looking pizza oven. The menu consists of mostly your traditional Italian American dishes from chicken parm to shrimp scampi. They don't try to reinvent the wheel or add bold new twists, they stick to the basics. But one thing they aren't shy about is the portions! You won't leave here hungry that is for sure. I ordered the veal parm and I was wowed when I saw the size of the cuts of meat they brought me. The other guests tried the chicken romano, the gnocchi sorentino, and the lobster ravioli and everyone needed a to go box and we all left well satisfied with our meals. The only thing that wasn't a hit was the fried zucchini. They were cut into thin strips rather than traditional slices of zucchini and the two guests who split it didn't care for them especially. I myself had a side of mozzarella sticks which I enjoyed a whole lot. I don't live close enough to become a regular but if I found myself in the area I wouldn't hesitate to come back! read more

So we had reservations for Mother's Day at That"s Amore. And on our way over (about 20 minutes into our drive) we got a call saying they could no longer honor our reservations. Can you imagine doing that to your mom on Mother's Day? Incredibly disappointing. So we decided to head to Portofino's, which was another 10 minutes out of the way at this point. On the way there we got a callback saying no we made a mistake. You can come to That's Amore after all. What kind of restaurant does this? I don't care how good the food is, treating. Your customers poorly doesn't justify anything. We did end up at Portofino's and everything was fabulous. Enjoyed a weeknight dinner here. We wanted something easy close to home and have wanted to try this restaurant. Walked in and was given a great table. Quickly was greeted by our waitress who was super friendly and provided us with water and bread. I had red wine which was great and came with bruschetta. For dinner we shared a pizza and a pasta - pictures included of both. The pizza was amazing perfect crust sauce and cheese. Loved it! The pasta was average - nothing to write home about but also nothing to complain about. Just normal pasta like I make at home. This is a great local Italian restaurant with a beautiful ambiance that is warm and inviting - we will come back. The value for quality is much better than others in the area. We were a party of 18 at lunch when business was slow. There was one table other than our party. The server rushed us and did not give water refills--we had to get up and ask for water- THE SERVER ACTUALLY ROLLED HER EYES at us. The server did not write down our orders and lasagna order was forgotten. So that diner had to wait for her order-- it was not good/tasty bc it was rushed. I've been twice now- and I enjoyed my food better the first time (more flavor and portion). But the second time was also good (just not great). They have a fabulous patio for al fresco dining. We did have a birthday we were celebrating and our server mentioned a rainbow shot to celebrate as the bartender was trying out some new things- well it wasn't on the house (which was the way he alluded- so don't fall into that! It wasn't my original intention to go here, but the other restaurants we wanted to go to were all hour+ waits. We took a chance to go here seeing the mixed reviews but we all loved it. The servers were all friendly and the food was amazing. I and some others in my large group all had the Romano Chicken and each of us loved it. The bread was amazing and so fresh it hurt my hand trying to eat it. I would go back here for sure, and I would probably enjoy it just as much, especially if I save room for dessert. Location is fairly convenient and there was no wait on the Saturday after 7/4. It was maybe half full most of the night. The waitress was attentive for the most part prior to the food arriving. However my salad came out with the entree instead of prior to the entree so that was a negative. My wife's crab cake was cold on the inside and we sent it back. When it came back out it was hot enough. My wife had asked the waitress's advice between that and the COD fish prior to ordering. Unfortunately it was not very good even when cooked and heated properly. Once the waitress brought the checks by it took about 15 minutes for her to come back to pick them up which was surprising to me because by then maybe a 1/4 of the tables were occuppied. We will give it another try in a few months since it was pretty easy to get into even though they do not accept reservations for less than 6. read more

Hard to say what is happening to That's Amore....We tried to go to a different restaurant and it was booked so we walked down to That;s Amore which was almost empty. We had a very nice waiter, but he was not too sure about the menu and what was on it or how it was served. We ordered some Calamari which I had had before but it was not good at all. There is a quality factor to different calamari's and this one was not good at all. My Clam Linguinie was good but tiny clams and only five of them. No Salads served with Entrees, which I though was rather expensive for just the entree. Just not the same place as I went to months ago. Not sure if they are going to close or what. read more

We had high hopes for a new-ish local spot. Group of 5 ladies who are normally pretty forgiving. We've eaten a lot of meals at a lot of places and never complain. Drinks were meh! Server was upset that we commented one of the drinks was so terrible we sent it back. Pure strawberry purée and nothing else. Appetizers (Rice ball, calamari and peach-bacon wrapped scallops) were so-so. Scallops were over cooked. Rice ball pretty good and calamari was average. Ordered ceaser salads that we were reminded multiple times would be an upcharge. Drenched in dressing to the point that it was in inedible. Ordered different meals. Crab cake was mostly breading. Shrimp Fra-Diavolo was just ok, lobster ravioli had tiny- baby shrimp and Veal was over cooked. None of the food felt freshly made. Asked for bread early in the meal. Bread showed up after asking for the third time at the end of dinner. Beautiful space but the food left a lot to be desired. read more

The food is authentic and delicious. The wait staff is attentive and the restaurant is very relaxing.

The food we ordered was blend (non-sushi) and the presentation poor. Also we didn't receive the ginger salads with the bento boxes and the Katsup chicken had NO vegetables. Additionally, it took 30 minutes to get the lunch on the table! We were patient and didn't voice the frustration but after we started to eat the tasteless food , did ask for the a manger and she didn't seem to care about the matter. They forgot to give us the pizza so we had to drive back again from home but we live fairly close and we didn't check our order,thought the box of food we had held our pizza too.! Nice restaurant inside, but tables very close to each other. Some outside seating too. Emloyees wore masks, no shield at register and saw no hand sanitizer . The food we ordered excellent: Margerita pizza, mozzarella caprese, Veal Mare Monte dinner ( side salad, seasonal veges which they subed for my pasta when I told them I don't eat pasta). Food was hot, fresh, tender, tasty, plentiful and priced reasonable. Extensive menu ( see photos ) but no eggplant parm here ). We would definitely return for more takeout. During covid, we would not sit in the restaurant unless we came and ate early and not crowded. This is in my opinion , food a cut above the other nearby surrounding Italian restaurants. A nice addition to this area. The first time dine-in experience since Corona situation. Glad to experience this newly opened restaurant! I love cool light decoration of dining area and they have beautiful and spacious outdoor seating. But it was too hot to sit outside for our Sunday lunch. Hot complimentary bread was served. The main dish comes with small salad. Order calamari for appetizer and it was good. We enjoyed our main dish! The shrimp fradiavolawas so good! The spicy tomato sauce was delicious with enough mussels and shrimps. The veal was tender and balance of mushroom, shrimp and veal was good for veal mare monte. Overall experience was great.
