Sauces were not needed, but we did enjoy the yellow AJI mild sauce and the green Huacatay medium sauce, which were also flavorful. Service was great - warm and welcoming! The two girls upfront had extremely nasty attitudes, even when I tried to "correct" my mistake by reordering she raised her voice and gave me attitude followed by the girl next to her. Tried the steak burrito just to vary it up vs the steak saltado. Not impressed. 1st the smell was off putting. The best I could compare it to is dog food. 2nd the steak esp since it's sirloin should be medium rare. It was very well done. Dry even with all the queso doesn't begin to cover it. 3rd the staff the girl at the cashier could hardly hear her so glad I know the menu. The staff overall was overwhelmed from cleaning a mess at the soda dispenser to making sure there was silverware available. There was an abundance of spoons and knives but never any forks. They were great about giving us plastic silverware. This location seems to struggle a bit vs Elizabeth, Ballantyne and Park Rd when it becomes busy. We have been a frequent customer of this Viva Chicken. The food has always been just ok - chicken is cold, rice is cold, soup broth is way too salty, green beans are burnt. However we have continued to order here due to convenience since it's so close to home and easy mobile ordering. However after multiple orders where we received the wrong things I will have to stop coming here. I called and complained. They were not very nice about it. First they asked me to come back to get the right thing without even an apology. I said no since I was already home and they said I would get a refund but nope they never gave a refund. Will now be opening a formal complaint and dispute since this is bad business practice. If you promise a refund to your customer, you should go through with it. We enjoy the chicken soup filled with shredded chicken, rice, red bell peppers, onions and scallions. Very tasty not overly spicy. One orders at the counter, gets a number waiting to be called to pick up their order. There are plenty of sides to choose from including, soup, salad, quinoa, yucca, fresh fruit etc. Besides dinners there are sandwiches, wraps, variety of salads , desserts and a kids menu. The famous Peruvian hormone free chicken is marinated and then roasted with spices. Food plated nicely, came out hot, reasonable prices and yes tasty and not overly salty. So much so that I'm going to replicate this week. From there, I mostly just get the straight-up chicken dinner. I absolutely love Viva chicken. I go to the waverly one all the time. In fact they know me by name. Love the staff there. I also have had a great experience in the Ballantyne and Charlotte location. The red stone location was disappointing today. The staff appeared so uncaring. Myself and my friend got locked in the outdoor seating area and we knocked several times. The staff (2) looked at us and didn't even budge to address our concern or open the door. I had to go out through the exit and re enter for my friends sake. No one came and apologized. Than when we picked up our food, they seemed annoyed to offer us plates. At the end we didn't even ask for to go containers trying to avoid the staff (a young lady with colored hair and man) I will not be going to that Viva for sure. What can I say - I love this place! Staff is nice and the line moves well. Parking isn't the worst. If you could bottle pure goodness in a bottle... wait you can! All 3 of these sauces they have are to die for. I always get the same thing so I haven't tried much. I get 1/4 chicken with fries and cilantro infused rice. Plus a whole lot of sauces. I generally get the dark meat because it is juicer: but you can get white meat for a small additional charge. For what you get and compared to most every good establishment nowadays the menu is priced fair! The place is always clean. Someone is constantly walking around cleaning up and wiping down. The sides that we chose (Peruvian rice, plantains and green beans) were all seasoned perfectly and were a generous portion. We had quite a bit of leftovers to take home with us. Typically Viva gets 5 of 5 stars but two customer service issues have soured my opinion. 1) I waited 10 minutes on hold for curbside pickup. Finally I go in and get it myself only to see everyone standing around unoccupied . I called later and she said they were in a "meeting" 2) happy hour meal quality isn't as good not sure if it's sitting around but the rice is always mushy and the chicken is nonexistent 3) no one knows how the rewards system works. I've been cheated out of my last two earned rewards and management shrug their shoulders and told me to contact corporate. To which I've received no response.
