After walking around packed restaurants on ocean drive which were offering crazy deals we checked the reviews and realized everything is great over there but the food isn't. Found this place on yelp and glad to say this is some of the best Greek food we have ever eaten. Awesome classy decor. Walked in quickly seated. Was given this tasty bread to start of with. We had quite a few vegetarians and this place had a separate vegetarian menu. They had the veggie pasta and it was super fresh and light. 5/5. We had the chicken soulvaki and it was served on a bed of roasted veggies with lemon sauce on top. We also ordered a side of tsziki sauce and pita. The chicken was cooked to perfection, the veggies tasted great, the lemon sauce was tangy and fresh, plus the pita was roasted with herbs. Honestly amazing food. Overpriced. They charge $9 for water and brought me a water glass with lipstick all over it. It was so dark that I realized after I poured my water but don't worry he threw it out and brought me an empty glass so I could pour some more $9 water back in it. The service was subpar but you're forced to auto grat an overpriced meal. Then to top it off they charge you another $9 for a credit card processing fee. read more

The seafood risotto was amazing and everyone else loved their entrees too such as the salmon. Six of us were able to get in right away on Friday night for my bachelorette party weekend so we were treated to complimentary shots to celebrate. I also showed them my check-in on my Yelp app for a complimentary glass of champagne and was pleasantly surprised that they brought champagne for the entire group :) The service was excellent and the food was great. The spanakopita is a crime against the Greek nation. It is super oily and worse, mine arrived burnt beyond recognition. The Greek potatoes, which used to be delicious and came in an order twice the size, are now minuscule and soggy, covered in a gooey, aggressively spiced sauce. The Poseidon Greek Restaurant deserves more than 5 stars. It is comparable (and in some cases better) than the food I ate in Greece. As for the service, I cant say enough about the attentiveness of the staff. Elina was my server and she was pleasant, efficient and just perfect. But she wasn't the only one. All of the staff removed plates, brought food, checked in, smiled... they were ideal. I'm a big eater, so I have a lot of food to compliment. Everything was made with the perfect amount of olive oil. The hummus on the pita was unique. I can't identify the flavor used to season it, but the grape on top was a nice addition. The award winning octopus is a must try. It came with a dollop of sauce that tasted so good, I fought the urge to lick my plate. Not joking... The lamb chops were a hearty portion and cooked to perfection. I even liked the baby potatoes they came with. I'm not a huge potato fan, but the olive oil and seasoning, along with the preparation made them irresistible. I ordered a small side Greek salad (not on the menu) and I was impressed with the freshness of the onions, cucumbers and tomatoes and the abundance of Greek cheese. SO DISAPPOINTED! " TOURISTS BEWARE! The previous reviews don't tell the whole story. Let's start by saying I went on a Friday Night and we were the ONLY patrons there the entire time during our dinner. The entire time (almost 2 hours) Food was just OK! Nothing that would motivate me to post something like "food was amazingly good" or anything like that. The star of the night was the hot pita bread right out of the oven. So delicious!!! Great for dipping into the Award wining octopus garlicky sauce. Oh yeah the octopus....honestly it was just ok! It wasn't terrible but I wouldn't call it award winning. The service was good, the servers were pleasant and helpful. I will give them that, but here's why I'm compelled to place a review on this restaurant. I will preface this by saying that I get that because SoBe is mostly a tourist attraction and you get visitors from other countries who don't frequent gratuity in their country you have to include it. They include in bold print on their menus 20% gratuity included. No problem there! What really caught me off guard was the charge for sales tax at 9% plus another 2% for a "CC Fee" or credit card fee. Let's address the sales tax first. Florida sales tax is 7% not 9%. When asked why they charged 9% the server said she didn't know and went to ask the manager. Server came back and said If I had any questions regarding the bill I should contact the email on the business card. Then there's the 2% credit card fee. REALLY? Why don't you print that on the menu as well? I've never had to pay a CC Fee at any restaurant...EVER! Adding all of it up I paid 31% in GRATUITY and "FEES". Not likely I will be going back again!!!! read more

If you want authentic Greek food, this is where it's at. We got several appetizers including the trip to Greece, the coconut shrimp, oven baked feta, and the award winning octopus. I'm not gonna lie, it was pricey. The octopus was well seasoned and not chewy. Everything else was ok. We asked for veggies with the pita and they charged an extra $11 without disclosing that. My cousin got a drink that was good and strong. The ambiance was fancy with Greek music playing. Another reason why I love Yelp! I chose this restaurant because of this week's #YelpChecksIn #SOBEWFF edition. If you haven't tried them as yet, and you love authentic Greek cuisine, then you're missing out. And with their check in special of a free glass of pink champagne you should run, make a reservation, and go get you some. Thanks to my girl Rhea P. for visiting Miami and spraking up a ladies night out. It was just the two of us, outside dining, scrumptious food and drinks, perfection. My pictures alone should have you wanting to give them a try and if not go, take your own pictures, and share for all of us to see. The service was outstanding, well worth the already built in gratuity. And of course it's up to you to add more, but it's not a requirement. I booked reservations for 6pm. I thought that would give us a few moments of daylight and then as late evening approached we could enjoy the candlelight ambience. We did. It was lovely, fun, laid back, and great outdoor seating. My Scotch Salmon dish was heavenly. It was well cooked, not under, not over, and the aspargus were nice and firm, just the way I like it. I also ordered some oregano fries which were soft, and seasoned well. And both Rhea and I loved the yogurt dip that accompanied the fries and lemon baked potatoes. (It was brand new to me. Not simply yogurt but something else that tasted really good was included. You'll just have to inquire when you visit.) This is hands down the best food we had while in South Beach. The ambiance is very romantic for a date, but there's bar seating as well as outdoor seating if you just want to keep it casual. The staff is all very friendly. On a large screen they have video of the owner creating his plates and it's impressive. We first tried the mussels and they were to die for, then the grilled octopus which was delicious. We had filet mignon, lamb chops and Fish. They were all too delicious and we could not stop eating. Great lighting, comfortable to sit and handicap accessible. Cotton candy coconut shrimp is a must!!! It was divine. Even the grilled vegetables are delicious and fresh. Came last night with husband and my mother-in-law, a greek native (Kefalonia), who asked me to leave the following review: "I usually do not like octopus, but theirs was the best I ever had. The horiatiki salad was perfectly prepared with the flavors and freshness I had grown up accustomed to in Greece. The chicken souvlaki was so juicy and tender and the baby potatoes that came with it tasted like mashed potatoes in the inside. Never had them like that." My husband and I shared the sword fish swerved on top of a bed of greens cooked to perfection, which was soooooo juicy and flavorful it melted in our mouths. I came to South Beach with a group of friends. We found Poseidon on Yelp, with lots of positive reviews. We walked past it, saw the menu and decided to eat here. Food: For appetizers we ordered calamari and flaming cheese. The flaming cheese was a strong, "stinky" cheese which I loved. Not sure what it was, but just a heads up if you're not a cheese person or sensitive to flavors. The calamari was good, not overcooked or chewy. I wanted the lobster special, which conveniently just sold out. So I got the sea bream orata. It's similar to branzino, and was a whole fish deboned by the server at table side. Then covered with butter, capers and oregano, it was a great pairing. It was good, but wasn't my first choice so I think I was a bit disappointed because of that. The branzino was also a while fish that was deboned at table side. My wife had the salmon, which was slightly overcooked. Not enough to send back, but I expected a little better from a seafood place. Service: We were seated as soon as we walked in around 9PM on a Saturday night. Server brought us water immediately as well as menus. He brought out bread for table of 5, which was 4 pieces... Asked for more, never came until we asked again. Otherwise service was average. They automatically add a 20% tip so there is that. Facilities: Located on Washington, it's two streets over from Ocean Drive. That means it's not as crowded or busy, making it a great spot for a more low key dinner. The restaurant has some outdoor seating, and ample space inside. It's not crowded with too many tables, and is a more quiet environment. There's a large bar area as well. read more
