I rarely write reviews, but had to for this one. The "Award Winning Octopus" was phenomenal--easily the best dish of my trip to Miami. I've had octopus many times before and didn't know it could taste that good or be that tender. The name lives up to the dish! Also ordered the Poseidon Seafood Pasta, which was delicious as well. Everything we tried was great, but the octopus stole the show. Special thanks to Apollo, Vasillis, and Chef Demetrios for the wonderful service and food. This was the only dinner of our trip we didn't make a reservation for...we just happened upon it, and it ended up being our favorite meal of the trip. Will be back for more Award Winning Octopus and to try the rest of the menu. read more

Had the octopus appetizer, really delicious, love all the (chickpea, orange supreme, shallot, pomegranate, mint) garnish. Staff couldn't have been any more welcoming and warm, sat outside in a cozy and vibrant setting. Only stayed for a quick bite and a drink, be back again soon! read more

The seafood pasta was not appealing because of overcooked seafood and too much pasta. The lemon potatoes were more oily than I prefer. The creamy spinach was unique. Great restaurant in a slightly quieter spot of south beach with a nice outdoor patio. Friendly service and relaxed pace, didn't feel rushed at all. The tuna tartare was absolutely divine and full of great flavor and textures. I had the red snapper and the sauce was amazing with the fish cooked perfectly. My husband really enjoyed the moussaka. Baklava was quite tasty. Overall we had a great dinner. This is one of the best meals I've had in a long time. If you like Greek food, you must go! read more

Needed a quick lunch while at work on Tuesday and popped in. It's a really pretty restaurant. The Tuesday special was a gyro, choice of lamb or chicken. I had the lamb. Really good. Nice and soft pita, lots of meat, salad and tzaziki. They got it to me really quickly, too. The price was right. Next time I'll try to chicken gyro. read more

We came here on our last night of a short South Beach visit (January 2025) based off of Yelp reviews and pics. First of all, the staff here is super friendly and welcoming. True Greek hospitality at its finest. We started with the saganaki which, due to technical issues, didn't flame up for us quite as it's supposed to. It was still delicious and our host was very eager to make up for the lack of presentation. He went over the menu and offered an off-menu version of their red snapper filet. We followed up our saganaki with a grilled octopus shareable and a red snapper filet for each of us. We weren't ready for the amount of food that we got, but did our best to not leave much on the table. Being from Texas, fresh seafood is a real treat. All of our plates were delicious, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The hospitality throughout our meal was a rare gem. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting great seafood and a positive cultural experience. read more

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Loved all of the food, the vibe was cool and the servers were great. You need to order the grilled sausage, it was truly fantastic. The whole Bronzino was amazing and the shrimp truffle pasta was also great. The pasta was a huge portion and extremely filling but delicious. Would highly recommend!! read more

We came here for an early dinner (6pm) and the place was empty except for us and 2 other tables of 2. The servers were nice and helpful with the menu. It was very romantic there (for me and my hubby and our 2 girls lol). What we swallowed: *SAMPLER PLATTER: Hummus, tzatziki, feta with pita. I love the variety and it was so yummy. *CRISPY CALAMARI: This was so good. Lightly breaded, it reminded me of our time back in Naxos. *CHICKEN SOUVLAKI: This was really good, lemony and fresh, very tasty. My girls loved it. *SEAFOOD PASTA: This was my favorite dish in Greece and this dish did not disappoint. Elegant and flavorful, the was the perfect dish. *BAKLAVA with ICE CREAM: Flaky, cinnamony, sticky... married beautifully with the vanilla ice cream. This was the perfect way to end such a beautiful dinner. This was such an elegant way to end our vacation and I'm glad we ended it here. Poseidon is a true South Beach treasure. From the moment you step in, you are greeted with warm hospitality and inviting ambiance. The food is nothing short of exceptional. We started with the grilled octopus that was perfectly tender with just the right char and the Poseidon dip trio, which was fresh, creamy, and addicting. The whole lavraki (Mediterranean sea bass) was a showstopper. (I prefer it whole with bone) flaky, and simply seasoned to let the fish shine. Every bite reminds us why Greek cuisine is so revered. I had the most wonderful time at Poseidon today! Despite arriving right as they opened, the manager/owner (I'm assuming based on the service he provided) was happy to take care of me. I mentioned I was a novice at Greek food and he made great suggestions. I ended up ordering moussaka and it was delicious. The pita and tzatziki was probably the best i've ever tasted. I also had a dirty vodka martini and it was perfect. My server was incredibly friendly and attentive and even pointed out tip was included to ensure I didn't mistakenly overtip. Overall food and drinks were delicious, service was spectacular, and outdoor seating was lovely. 10/10 recommend! read more

We came to Poseidon for afternoon apps and drinks. We got the ocean basket and the grilled artichokes; they were both fantastic. To drink we had an old fashioned and a pina colada; the colada was the best I've had in Miami and I LOVE pina coladas! It was one of the few places we've been in the area that wasn't blasting your ear drums with club music, too. I highly recommend Poseidon! read more

We do not understand why this place isn't packed yet! The food is terrific and the service attentive (note the European custom of needing to ask for the bill when you are ready to go--they do not want to rush you). The prix fixe option is terrific--we chose horiatiki salad, lamb, and delicious baklava for dessert- the salad and dessert were perfect for sharing, so a party of two does not need to each get the prix fixe. The lamb was excellent with a perfect tzatziki complement and nice roasted potatoes. The horiatiki salad (my husband described it as "clean") was fresh and nicely dressed and the feta creamy; they brought a bottle of olive oil to top it off. I would definitely put this on my South Beach rotation if I lived here! read more

The food was sooo delicious and authentic! We started with the Choriatiki salad and warm pita. The salad was a generous size for sharing with two. My partner chose the Greek style salmon ("it was very good") and I had the sea scallops (3 large scallops in a fava bean puree). The best part was the Bougasta- baked fresh at time of order, consisting of a flaky, crisp filo crust with a warm cream filling, served a la mode dusted with powered sugar and cinnamon. I didn't catch the man's name who worked there but, he saw us checking out the menu and offered us free drinks in case we wanted to come by when they opened the next day. It's been a long time since I posted a review here. Great food and service. Not cheap but reasonable compared to many competitors. Slightly off the beaten path but worth walking a few extra blocks. The Greek salad and the branzino are especially good. Looking at some other reviews, tipping in Miami and Miami Beach, and probably everywhere else in Miami Dade, is confusing. A recent law prohibits "discrimination in tipping" which effectively means restaurants and bars are required to add a service charge to the bill. Some add 18% but most--like Poseidon--add 20%. When asked, my server said 8% went to the restaurant and 12% was split among the service staff. But, any additional tip went directly to him. So, I added 8% because my usual tip is 20% for excellent service as I received here. In many places in Europe, the service charge goes 100% to the restaurant. It's not a tip. On the other hand, servers in Europe are generally paid well because tips are not expected. In the US, it varies greatly by state and city. In some places in Virginia, bartenders and servers are paid only a few dollars per hour with the expectation that most of their salary comes from tips and the business is prohibited from taking a cut of the tips. Regardless, I highly recommend Poseidon for Greek food in Miami Beach. read more

We found this place based on recommended Yelp reviews and decided to try it out. It wasn't that busy surprisingly for a Friday night. We opted to sit inside due to the humidity outside. The inside ambience is pretty dim and the night that we came, there was a super strong sewage smell in the restaurant. For appetizers, we got the crispy calamari and OMGGG. It was so good. Probably one of the best calamari I've ever had. For entrees, I got the seafood risotto and my husband ordered the pasta. The risotto was good and came highly recommended. I found it a little heavy though. Still very tasty! My husband's pasta was good but nothing unique about it that separates it from any other seafood pasta. read more

Great service. Loved the Ambiance though it's a little dark. Lamb chops were really good. I had a mint jelly with them for the first time and it was surprisingly good! The dessert was good -- SUPER sweet and rich. I had an apertif for the first time -- ouzo? I think that's what it's called. A taste of authentic Greek in South Beach is a perfect escape of your regular South Beach suspects, it easy to find with a walk up open veranda seating as well as inside seating. Everything we ordered was so delicious however special shout out to the dip tray and the octopus. Try to do a variety of plates so you can have a magical Greek journey while in Miami. The staff is absolutely lovely very attentive. Ambiance wise it has a flare of Greek blue & white decors, I loved the photographs on the walls.
