I happened to be on Facebook one afternoon after having a suddenly clear schedule, and boom! This ADORABLE little face popped up in my feed. I felt like the Grinch, my heart swelling up to three times its normal size. I wanted, no, NEEDED this puppy. I don't know what I was thinking. I had a senior cat, 2 other dogs, was recovering from a severe injury, and was also a full time graduate student in Boulder. Yeah. But that FACE. It spoke to me. After discussing it with my husband, we decided it would be worth making the effort to add to our family. We contacted MFDM, and put in our application. Sadly, the little face we fell in love with went to a family that same day. We were CRUSHED. Lets recap: Thursday - no interest in getting a new dog. Friday - fall in love with dog. Saturday - learn dog is not available. Be sad. Sad sad sad. Sunday morning, we were still sad....and then my phone rang. It was the Fairy Dawg Mother herself!!! She was calling to let me know that the little face I fell in love with was being returned to his foster home, because he wasn't a fit for the family that wanted him originally. My husband and I were OVERJOYED. This wasn't a simple "ok, lets go see him" - we KNEW he was meant to be ours. We drove to the foster's home that afternoon, and welcomed our new handsome boy into our lives. Now - it's easy enough to say that it's a great story to meet the dog we love. But even better, here is what made it worth adopting from MFDM: 1. The focus is on finding the RIGHT home for the dog. When my boy's potential parents decided he wasn't the right fit, MFDM took him back ASAP. 2. Foster care, not shelter care. The dogs brought under the MFDM umbrella are immediately cared for in homes, given training, and integration into a pack. This is good, because that means they don't suffer any more. Many of the dogs are rescued from high stress/high kill shelters. It's a lot of work to go from that environment to a house/family setting. 3. The rescue is small and personalized. No large corporate style structure here, where checkboxes and numbers are the primary motivation. They are all about the dogs. 4. Small, but professional. Each dog is microchipped, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered, and all pet parents are advised about responsible pet ownership. When you adopt from MFDM, you become a part of their family, whether you want to or not! They are here for the dogs, first and foremost. We adopted our Boston Terrier, Stella, from the Buddy Center in Castle Rock back in Nov 2012 as a 11month old. She is now 13! We got so lucky as someone else was visiting her when we arrived. Back then you could put a wish list if a breed online and would be contacted if one came in to one of the shelters. Not anymore but we loved that feature. We found a stray Boston Terrier puppy a few years ago and took her to DDFL to see if so anyone lost a pet and since she bonded with us and our other Boston overnight, we asked them please please contact us if no one claims her, and a week or two later we were contacted and then had to adopt her. She is now called Beans and is about 4 years old. We sadly had to put down our 11 year old Bassethound a year prior to adopting our Beans, and took him to DDFL. The hardest thing ever to do, and he was my first pet. They were great with us, let us take a lot of time to say goodbyes. I only wish we were allowed back during the euthanasia, I really didn't like just sending him off like that. They do offer you ashes and paw prints after as well which was very nice.

It took me several trips in order to find my newest companion. I also had to return a puppy during the selection process. I brought her home for three weeks, but she was extremely mouthy, destructive and very high energy! It broke my heart to take her back. The best thing about visiting the Center is getting to know all the animals. I know in a glance who has been there the longest and who will be adopted first. They currently have a large selection of Pit Bull Terriers, Dobermans, Mixed breed dogs and a lovely bulldog named Trixie. They all need good homes and if my home were large enough, they would all come and live with me! The down side is their first come first serve policy. It can be frustrating to see a dog on the website that you want to visit, then watch them being adopted when you get there to visit them. There are many lovely animals there that need good homes. Show up early, visit with your potential new companion and enjoy the experience!

The dogs are average price, and they have a very neat doggo area, with a big area where they take the dogs and pop them in there with you to see if they might like you.

The director said the cat she was interested in wasn't up for adoption yet and she would have to wait. After many days of my mom calling and talking to the lady she basically said that the cat was already hers she just had to wait for him to be available. Today my mom called the shelter again and the director said THAT THEY GAVE THE CAT AWAY!!!! my mom was so devastated. We just lost our family dog and she was so excited and looking forward to getting a new cat. The director said it was because they had heard my mom say she was going to make it an outdoor cat, WHICH IS COMPLETELY FALSE. first, my mom would never do that. She specifically wants a cuddly indoor kitty as a companion, second the shelter specifically said she cant have an outdoor cat and my mom agreed with that part of the contract. It makes absolutely no sense. I could tell from the very beginning something was off about this rescue and I was right. I'm not sure what they're doing over there but whatever it is it's not good. We will probably be getting in contact with a lawyer. DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE!!!

This was about 2 days before Christmas. I was contacted by one of their adoption coordinators not long after and by New Year's Day I was having a meet-and-greet with my potential kitty. Meet and greet went awesome and I signed the adoption papers that day. In less than a week I'd found my new buddy! The adoption cost ($75) covered neuter, vaccines, microchip and more. I felt great knowing I was rescuing a safe and healthy animal. His foster mom was fantastic as were all the Pawsco people I interacted with. Everyone was very helpful and responsive - it was an easy process and I would recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a pet.

YAY! I get to finally write a review on 4P4L!!…read more We found 4P4L due to a Petfinder search back in 2021. The dog we initially adopted wasn't good with our cats even though he was fine in his foster home with the resident cat. 4P4L understood and we were able to return him. They had asked me to write an updated bio for him so that potential adopters would get a better understanding of his demeanor. He was such a sweet dog but my cats weren't his thing, which wasn't his fault in the slightest. I wrote the bio and he got adopted. I was then asked to volunteer and become a foster, so we started fostering. A 3 day sleepover for a foster pup is how we started and since 2021, we have fostered over 100 dogs and volunteer at adoption events. While it is so tempting to adopt all our fosters, we know we're just helping them adjust to home life. There have been a few that we invoked the 6 month rule: if we have the pup for 6 months, we would adopt him/her because at 6 months, you're a part of our pack. Last month, there was a need to foster these 2 rottie pups because it was time for them to separate from their momma and momma needed a break. Rotties are one of our preferred breeds! Well, we invoked the 6 DAY rule knowing that the pups would be adopted within the week. So that's it! That's how we got our Saoirse! Even if you cannot adopt, please think about volunteering with us or becoming a foster! A little weekend break from the kennel is what all the dogs need and you may just invoke your own 6 day rule!!

We arrived and she comes out to us, UNBATHED, UNGROOMED and she SMELLED awful. She had diarrhea all over her rear end and she was SO terrified, she was shaking and pooped in the girls arms as she was carrying her. It was OBVIOUS that not ONE person had worked with her, bathed her or groomed her since she arrived at this facility! Just put her up on line and waited for someone to adopt her. Clearly NOT in it for the welfare of these animals. Just the money. Never an apology or explanation for this. No follow up phone call to see how she was adjusting. NOTHING. Based on everything here, we DO NOT RECOMMEND this rescue. They are SHAMEFUL!
