    The Vermonter

If you could experience the essence of Vermont on a pizza, what would that taste like? Positive Pie has figured it out and served it up so perfectly with their Vermonter. The beautiful combination of bacon, apples and maple syrup paired well with a side of garlic knots. Great food mixed with excellent service and laid back atmosphere have us coming back every time we're in town.

This place is truly a place to put on your must do list if your going through or staying in Hardwick. Everything is made with fresh ingredients. The pizza had a crispy crust except the bruschetta pizza which was a little more on the oily side for me. The meats used on the pizza and Stromboli is delicious and I'm guessing also local. My daughter also got a fettuccine alferado and the sauce was creamy and had a great balance of seasoning in it. The ambiance is nice and has rhat teue farm to table Vermont feel. Attentive wait staff. Our wait was a little long but we were there right at the peak of dinner.

I can't say enough about this wonderful dining experience . We went in for a nice lunch and although we ordered a lot of food ! We enjoyed every bite ! The pizza was the BEST I have ever had . We also enjoyed the wings and the fish and chips . We ended up with a few slices of some very yummy desert ! Oh and the dips ( ranch and blue cheese ) were the creamiest and oh so delicious. We ended up dining twice .. This restaurant has such a fun , laid back atmosphere. If you are looking for a good cocktail we also enjoyed the Hot toddy and the chocolate Godiva martini ! So when in Vermont .. this is a dining MUST !

    Beef Calzone - Huge portion

Having chosen East Hardwick as a destination during the Covid era, there are not a lot of restaurants that are open at 8pm. Luckily we were able to find "positive Pie" which is a very small local chain in that area. The interior is very spacious, with a darker atmosphere, almost like a dive bar. They have a bar area, and tables for larger parties on the left. Service was actually pretty quick and we ordered the Beef Calzone and the Mac and cheese. The helpings were extremely generous and the wait staff pleasant. The food lacked flavor though. They can benefit by adding a bit of more salt for flavoring. We got the pleasure of talking with the staff there , Fern, who was very cool and shared some areas that we could visit during our stay there. Overall a very nice cozy joint and reasonably priced.

I love the original restaurant in Plainfield. The Montpelier pizzeria in the back was a great, cheap date. I'm not as fond of the front.

They are doing a wonderful job, and I am so, so glad they didn't come and go like the other restaurants in that spot before it. You probably knew that from the other reviews, but I have another reason I am writing this. I came here with my husband one night months ago, and he got a cocktail that had cherry and bourbon as the main flavors. I stole most of it from him :D. It was so good that every time I get another cocktail somewhere else, even if it is good, I just wish it was the cherry bourbon one. So, if you're there and they still have it on the menu, I suggest you get it. And if the establishment is reading this, my vote is to keep that one around.

We got our little buzzer and we were told to stay within a half mile. We sat outside across the street on a bench. We watched numerous groups of 3+ go in and not come back out, which means they were seated. When, after 40 minutes, we were called in, none of those groups were at the bar. Kinda makes you wonder. We ordered cokes. $5 each and got refills, but when the bill came was shocked to be charged for every refill! We spent more on cups of Coke than the actual effing meal!!! Ordered the steak medium. It was rare. Oh well, was hungry and didn't want to wait any longer. But it was good. Buffalo chicken cheese curd fries were good, but chicken was dry. The cheesecake was not tasty at all. The burger was "mid," according to my son.

Had a great time at the Whiskey Den last night! I had been cautious to go in as the previous business in this location was sketchy. I was so pleasantly surprised! Kyle the bartender was friendly and patient (something that can be challenging for bartenders). Music was your typical small town Vermont bar, but mixed it up here and there. Don't get me wrong you will run into classic St. J characters.... But it is a big space so you can find your own corner. Got to speak with the owner Joanna and she was lovely! This brewery was known to be superior 8 or so years ago. Us hop heads in CT dreamed about it but never tasted. We were curious, their location was intriguing. It also made us skeptical. So the snow is falling, it's approaching 4pm, the drive brings you up a hill on the dirt road. Add beer to the uncertainty of the moment, it was perfect for anxiety, excitement and first tastes. Draft one was a nitro stout. Yeah, like Guinness but... UNBELIEVABLE. Just that good. Then an IPA close to their origin. Simple. Again, UNBELIEVABLE. Easy sell, I bought each 4 pack available. Asked for a restaurant in Montpelier. The Three Penny Taproom was... UNBELIEVABLE. (Chickpeas, Chicken Nuggs and Hill Farmstead all over the place.) Of course the brewery guys recommended it, and the gas station at Willey's in Greensboro. So we survived the "brief flurry", and a Taproom extraordinaire. The beer is ready for a Connecticut Christmas and will be compared to the beer from Burlington, Stowe and Deerfield. All great brews. The anticipation of enjoying Hill Farmstead beer was just as exciting as the trip and first taste. So, If you need a trip, find them. No complaining about the distance and remoteness, please. It's where they are. Yeah, you can find the beer in other places in state. I look forward to getting it at those spots. I look forward to seeing the brewery in the summer!
