This is the Centredale Post Office in North Providence, and my experience here has been pretty much exactly what you would hope for from a post office: I come in, take care of whatever I need to take care of, and leave. I've never had a genuinely bad experience here, but I also can't say I've ever walked out thinking, "Wow, what an exceptional post office experience." I'm usually here for something pretty basic, either buying stamps or occasionally sending a package, and the process has always been smooth. The employees I've dealt with have been perfectly pleasant and helpful, and I've never encountered the kind of surly, miserable customer service that seems to be a rite of passage at some government offices. The building itself is clean, and there is a good amount of parking, which is actually a bigger deal than it sounds. The location on Smith Street is convenient, although pulling out onto Smith can be a little annoying when traffic is heavy. My one real complaint is the lunch situation. There have been times when I've shown up during the middle of the day only to find the counter closed for lunch, and the timing has seemed somewhat arbitrary. On one occasion I came around 2:00 PM and they were closed for lunch. I came back the following day around noon and, again, they were closed for lunch. Maybe there is a perfectly logical staffing schedule behind it, but from the customer's perspective it can feel like trying to guess when the post office has decided it is lunchtime. The posted retail hours are generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays, but a midday closure can be frustrating if you have a package that needs to go out or simply need to buy stamps and have limited flexibility during the workday. Overall, though, this is a perfectly adequate neighborhood post office. It's clean, there's plenty of parking, the staff have always been nice to me, and the basic transactions I've needed have been handled without any drama. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this particular post office, but if you live in North Providence or happen to be in the Centredale area, there's really nothing here that would make me avoid it either. Three stars feels about right: competent, convenient, and perfectly fine, just not exactly an experience worthy of a commemorative stamp.

Another staff member had a bad attitude too over problems I had and blamed the post office for non delivery. They lied to me that I didn't need a name before a PO Box. Local postmaster told me under Home Land security rules you can no longer use just a PO Box in the address section. Stay away!

I stopped in on a quiet Monday afternoon and was immediately helped by a nice woman behind the counter. I told her I was in the market for Forever stamps and she flipped through her binder and showed me which ones were available for purchase. I told her my selections and then changed my mind a few times but she never grew impatient with me and helped me with a smile. Excellent customer service that is a true rarity these days!

If anyone is looking around for a place that offers more than spiral binding, they do offer "perfect binding" which is glued, unexposed page edges where they're bound together. More like a real book and more durable. I wish I knew about them sooner. Update: I tried to use him again for a personal book binding project. He gave me rushed service and did not give me the product I asked for. If he didn't have the time to do what I wanted he could've referred me to the printing shop one Plaza over. They did take me, and told me he will sometimes refer clients. The woman there understood exactly what I was asking for and instead of blatantly refusing my service like ad print guy did, they just let me know when to pick it up.
