Former customer for several years. Repeatedly had packages lost, rude service (and lack thereof) by the owner, ridiculous prices on everything, and long wait times at the counter. Take a look at the other reviews. You'll see the only reason this place is not LOWER than 2.5 stars is that a few people who went in one time to mail something, gave 5 stars. Typical exchange: ME: "You have a package for me. Here's my slip" Owner: "Says here it was picked up." ME: "Is there a signature?" Owner: "Uh... no, but it's marked Picked Up." ME: "Nope." Owner: "I don't see a box for you anywhere." ME: "Why don't you check in back?" Owner: "It's not there." ME: "Just check in back just to be sure." Owner: "I know it's not there." ME: "Just please check." Owner checks in back, finds box: "It wasn't actually my fault because somebody put it where it didn't belong," blah blah. No "Sorry about that!", no "It won't happen again this time, I swear," just same old crappy attitude and service. This place is only for you if you love being mistreated. I went in to send out two of my amazon shipments yesterday and the old guy who works there forgot to put include a packing slip with one of the envelopes. When I told him about that, he let out a HUGE frustreated sigh, reopened the package with a furious look on his face, and basically handled my package along with his equipments a little too heavily to be considered as customer-friendly gestures. Afterwards, before he sealed my package in a different envelope, the guy had the nerve to ask me rudely, "Is there anything ELSE you need to put in there?" I couldn't believe it. Did the guy think I was his slave or what? At the end of it all, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Again, do NOT go there unless you wanna experience this type of mistreatment. PS Oh, and by the way, guy, UPS actually charged me a lower rate than you would've had I actually done business with you. Dropped a uhaul off at this location in Pristine condition only to receive an unjustified $50 maintenance fee. I have tried rectifying this issue multiple times to no avail. Even tried bringing it up with Uhaul themselves who explained how the fee was issued under postal Magic's discretion. Drove here from Oxnard to inquire about possibly getting a mailbox. Upon arrival there were 4 people ahead of me and 1 employee handling all the customers and phone calls. Took 10-15 mins of waiting to finally be told that the person working behind the counter does not know the process of renting a mailbox , no idea where to look for the forms to be filled out, and suggested that I come back the next day and speak with a manger, Michael. I mailed a package to a friend in Morocco at Postal Magic. Due to Covid-19, Morocco was no longer able to receive mail from the US. The package eventually was returned to me. The postage fee was quite expensive, as I sent it US priority international (about $100). When we got the package back, we went back to Postal Magic to see if we could get a refund of our postage. These are extraordinary times due to the coronavirus, and the owner went to great lengths to get a refund from the company he uses (stamps.com). He was on the phone with them for an hour and a half! He convinced them to refund the postage, and he called us to let us know that he would indeed be giving us a refund. I have to say that Postal Magic went above and beyond in handling this situation. I would highly recommend them for your mailing needs. There are no lines, and they definitely offer outstanding customer service. And they are conveniently located in the Von's shopping center on Mission Oaks. read more

1 star is too many. Owner wrapped a package to be shipped for eBay. $4 envelope adhesive detached. Opener said he would use packaging tape and fix. Envelope arrived to customer with no contents and no sign of tape or adhesive. I confronted owner about this and he said not my problem, blame USPS. He claims the packaging tape fell of of the envelope. Asked to see the video of him putting on the tape and he said his cameras don't record. Took no responsibility. Refused refund on shipping costs and on shipping contents. He was rude and defensive. Terrible business ethics and a far cry from Charlie and Jessica days of Postal Magic. I am shocked at the complete lack customer service that I received from Postal Magic. DO NOT bring anything that you need to have shipped out to this location. I had a small package that I wanted to send out which was very important, as it had my tax documents in it. They put the postage on and sent out the package in what seemed to be a seemless transaction. About 5 days later it was returned back to my house, stating that there was an insufficient amount of postage that was put on the package. I returned it to the establishment to give them an opportunity to rectify the situation and send out my package. I walked in and wasnt greeted at all. I shared with the owners the situation and I was met with a very rude and defensive attitude. They told me that they weighed the package, that was the postage that was assigned to it, and there was nothing that they can do. They offered no solution to my problem. I ended up having to take my package to UPS and they informed me that Postal Magic priced my package as a "flat" as opposed to a parcel and it was absolutely Postal Magic's mistake. So all of that said, save yourself the headache and take your postal needs somewhere else that cares whether your items get to where they need to go. read more

The man at the counter has no experience with international shipping. He couldn't help me with proper packaging and when I asked if he knew how to properly write out the address for the UK (After showing him the address on my phone) he said, "no, I'm not from the UK". It must be us, but every time we come to this place ( not bc we like to, but bc we are picking up our packages, which are coming from all over the world ) we have very frustrating situations. We always have to transfer it to another location, ( which usually takes a few months thanks to this person ) otherwise we can never get it from this place. The person in charge is very rude. I came in all frazzled and in a rush to overnight a check to a friend out of state. The person who helped me was calm, cool and collected and not only managed to calm me down, but quickly got my check off overnight. THE ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I wish I could give zero stars. I went in to mail something priority mail last Saturday. I told the cashier that I needed it there in two to three business days. She proceeded to tell me it would be seven to ten, but it's usually much quicker. The phone rang while she was finishing my mail and she was very annoyed by the caller on the phone. Once she got off the phone she stated, 'I'm trying to work, here.' Which is not a respectful attitude of other customers in the store. She didn't seem like she even wanted to help me to be honest. She threw my finished mail in a bin, on the floor and told me I could track it with the tracking number on my receipt. I got home, thinking nothing more of our strange interaction, THERE isn't even a tracking number on the receipt!! I called the store, today, to just ask if they have a tracking number in their system. That they could provide to me. The guy on the phone rudely disregarded my questions. NEWS FLASH I wasn't asking for the tracking number over the phone. I was simply inquiring, because you employee wasn't competent enough to provide me with the right service and/or information. He rudely told me he had to go he had customers in front of him. Then don't answer your phone if you aren't going to give a paying customer the service they rightfully deserve. Before he hung up on me, I asked if he was the manager and he said, 'yes.' What an absolute disgrace! I will be telling everyone in Ventura County how horribly you treat customers. Seems like there's a lot of mixed reviews for this place but this place has never let me down when I need something packed and shipped. The service is great and friendly and I always leave knowing my package will reach its destination on time. I choose this place over The UPS Store or Fedex Office because they do much more here dealing with almost all carriers. Well, it's too bad that this store is under new ownership. They increased all their prices, want to charge everyone (including their regular PO box customers) $1 for a strip of tape to close a box and if you don't spend over $10, they won't use your debit/credit card so they ask you to purchase something else like a pack of gum or candy they keep at the front! Now I know why they started carrying candy and gum...so you would HAVE to spend unnecessary money. We canceled our PO box and plan to move to the UPS store down the street, even though this one is in walking distance! Such a shame that our small town, local shipping store is taken over by someone with no sense of community!!! read more

This place is a nightmare. After waiting 15 minutes in line the clerk wanted me to repackage my box which was already in a solid manufacturers box. Didn't want to give me a label pouch for my prepaid label and wanted me to leave the package on the floor in front of the counter. I ordered items and had to return a couple of them. Went to try out "new" postal magic. Big Mistake. The original box was 16lbs and I was charged $22 by the company that shipped my parts from Kansas. What I returned in the original box was only 12lbs. The "new" postal magic charged me $34. I checked with UPS and plugging in the info from my receipt, UPS was $18.34. I just wanted to try out the "new" postal magic and I did. It sucks. The new gal at the counter is no Jessica and can't spell, type or listen. Maybe en Espanol she is better. And John, anyone can get an MBA. Who are you trying to impress? The last owner was likeable and I felt bad for him and we would discuss the struggles of small business and such each time I would send packages and letters-I spend about $100-125/mo doing so. The UPS store is equally distant so knowing the rates are stupidly higher at the "new" postal magic, I guess I will miss out on the small business owner to owner conversations and just pay UPS directly. Don't they teach competitive and market pricing practices in MBA school? I would avoid this new place like the plague. Unless getting ripped off is what you are in to. read more

I had an unhappy experience at this place this afternoon and came home prepared to write a letter to the owner. Decided to write a review instead, thereby giving other folks the opportunity to know how you might be treated if you walk in to utilize his services. I walked about three steps into the store, stopped to drop outgoing mail into the slot, and the owner who was way in the back of the store shouted "Don't come in here without a mask and do not drop your mail in that slot!" I frankly did not intentionally not wear a mask, I simply didn't think about it since I didn't come anywhere near a live person. I always wear a mask and I obey all of the Covid-19 rules, I simply forgot. If I had been treated civilly I wouldn't feel so bad, but this is the last time I will ever enter that store. It used to be a friendly operation with very pleasant people, but this new owner is rude, unfriendly, and obviously hates what he's doing. I have gone to postal magic atleast 10 times, and have nothing but good things to say about this business. yes, it is almost always more expensive than going to the post office, but i am happy to support the local economy and not have to drive across town to go wait in line for a half hour. the gentleman that is there has always been polite and very professional. they even keep your information for you in their computer system to speed things up. you wont be disappointed with postal magic!! read more

I don't know of the employee that is referred to being let go , but the young people that currently work there are friendly and helpful. I have never had an issue with any of the FedEx or UPS packages I send frequently with them. Yes, they are little bit more than the post office, but they are conveniently located and the service, plus the gas and time I save make it quite worth it. 5 stars!!! The older man who works here is so sweet! I really don't understand how anyone could have a problem with him. I've been in here maybe 3 times so far, and each time he has been absolutely helpful and kind. I seriously get really confused with anything that has to do with mailing, and I just bring in all my stuff and he takes care of it for me! Never have had any attitude from him, and once he was honest and told me it'd be less expensive if I went through the post office instead. I think another girl has helped me, and she was also sweet. What really got me to appreciate this place was I went to another mail shop in Ventura, and the packaging somehow cost me a few dollars more. It's really sad. The last couple times I went there was a money box asking for donations for a baby that had cancer so if you're in there, please be generous and donate anything! :) read more

Been a box customer for a couple years now. Service is great and yes there are some mistakes but its normal for a busy small buisness to make some. Very convenient as well for your shipping needs in this area of camarillo. Services at this store are great as they have a notary on site most of the time when i need one done. Store is great but it is sad to see most reviews are here about complaints and no one goes out of their way to write about a good experience they had. I do a bit of shipping on ebay and Jessica is always nice to me. I am sure she gets frustrated with people sometimes, as many people don't "get" shipping but she manages to do a good job with a little sass thrown in. It gives the place character and I like that. I can get in and out fairly easily, especially if I print my labels online and drop them off for pick up. Not a bad deal to have UPS, FEDEX and USPS all pick up in one spot. I live on a rural mail route and with their initial OK, had forwarded my packages to Postal Magic about 3 or 4 times over the last 12 months. On Monday they received a UPS package for me and when I went to pick it up, they told me that they had refused it because I didn't have a PO box there. They never told me of this earlier and could of accepted the package and then notified me of their policy.
