I found this place by accident and I'm very glad I did. I was in Annapolis for the day and was looking for a quick bit and I saw "cafe" so figured this was the perfect place. The menu is a little confusing. They have a section called "mixed greens" or something similar that is the next section over from the potato section on the menu. I didn't know, however, that this meant stuff that's included on the potato. I thought when I ordered the feta, spinach, garlic, and bacon, that I was getting a salad. I was glad I was wrong because the potato was delicious. It did take a little long to serve (about 10 min), but it was very good. My potato ended up having feta, sour cream, spinach, roasted peppers, banana peppers, and bacon. Might sound "weird", but was very good. Staff was friendly too. I can't picture myself going here every day because how often can I eat a baked potato? Very good though. read more

I really wish I could comment on some of these negative reviews and tell them how absolutely ridiculous they are. If your allergic to dairy, you obviously are going to be getting a bland potato because the majority of ingredients used to dress the potato have dairy in them. By the way if your allergic to dairy you would be allergic to butter as well. You might want to check that one out. People complaining about "microwaved" potatoes are completely off base as well. These potatoes are definitely oven roasted. Anyone with half a tastebud and brain cell could tell that. They are fully cooked ahead of time and kept warm to speed up being served. If every potato was oven roasted upon ordering it would take over and hour to get your food. And if your coming to POTATO valley to get salads and sandwiches you're obviously not going to be getting their best offerings. Bottom line, Potato Valley is amazing. Their food is phenomenal. Their unique take on a potato is something everyone should have the pleasure of experiencing. I have to limit myself to once a week which is very hard to do. We were walking around Annapolis, and looking for something not too expensive for a light lunch. I whipped out my phone and brought up Yelp. This was one of the top rated places where meals would be around the $10 range As we approached the door, the couple in front of us made sure to let us know we picked a great spot. Good sign! Now, let this be said, I'm not a huge baked potato fan, but this place can make me a believer. I actually ordered a half sandwich/soup combo with a chicken sandwich. But after trying a bite of the Bacon & Cheddar potato, I'll be back to have one for myself. I got the Chicken Enchilada soup, which was AMAZING. It was spicy, creamy, and full of chunks of chicken and peppers. I wished I had gotten more. The sandwich on the other hand was blah. The chicken needed more seasoning and the sauce on the sandwich was overpowering. But it might have been the largest 1/2 sandwich I ever saw. Thinking back on the experience, I think that the chicken was probably pre-cooked, as I didn't see a kitchen in the place, but I'd rather see a place not offer things they can't do well than offer mediocre dishes. The bacon and cheddar potato was loaded with both bacon and cheddar, and had a salad on top of it that I really could skip. But it put a new definition to "loaded" baked potato. As every inch of this potato was covered in toppings. I'll definitely return to try one of the more interesting potatoes, like South of the Valley, Chicken Curry, or Cuban Chicken. I have lived in Annapolis for 4 years and yesterday I found a wonderful lunch spot--- Potato Valley Cafe! I went with one of my girlfriends/ coworkers becuase I have had my eye on it for awhile but it is downtown annapolis so parking is always a little tough in that area. I recieved the Living Social coupon which was for $20 and I only paid $10. When you walk in the cafe the menu is on the left wall. It is a little confusing menu but now that I have done it once I think I am good to go. They have a variety of different topings for potatoes. I got the Cuban and my friend got the brocolli and cheddar. One potato is PLENTY for meal. The lady at the front area was soooo kind. She let us sample a variety of different toppings and made us feel right at home. I was on my phone trying to pull up the Living Social coupon and she must have known exactly what I was doing. The bill acturally was higher then $20 and she said to not worry about the difference. She just took my last name (apperantly, she can just mark my name off a list that I used the coupon) and we were done. We sat outside and ate our yummy lunch. It was such a fun experience and I will definitely go back!! The nice lady even came out side to ask us how we liked it and check up on us. I was very impressed by this cafe. This place is an amazing concept that needs just a few tweaks to be perfect. We stopped in for lunch while Christmas shopping and were greeted warmly by two different employees, one of whom asked if we would like to sample anything on the menu. Um, okay! I asked about the "artichoke mix" and was glad I had, as it turned out to be a sort of creamy dip with tiny pieces of artichoke stirred in. No thanks. Instead I settled on the classic garlic butter with cheddar, and my husband went for the Jamaican Hot Sauce. Both came with "greens," which I appreciated as a complement to the carb-heavy centerpiece. We got drinks and picked out a cafe table in the sunny seating area, and in no time at all our potatoes were ready. The skins were lovely, crispy and flaky, and the combinations of flavors in both entrees were wonderful -- mine buttery and cheesy with a hint of garlic, and his creamy and spicy (so much so that he couldn't finish it, which is unusual for a hot-sauce hound like him!) Here are the tweaks they need to make Potato Valley great: first, use more salt on the potatoes -- outside and in. Potatoes need a lot of salt to bring out their flavor, and although I can always salt it myself, it would be nice not to have to as it penetrates more deeply while baking. Second, rethink the "greens," which were basically a dressy garnish: half a cup of iceberg lettuce, 4 leaves of baby spinach (yes, I counted,) a strip of red pepper, a cucumber slice and two shards of unripe mango. I would recommend something heartier, like baby kale or chard, and slightly wilted, so you can eat it along with the potato without making a mess. Also, just wanted to note again that service was fantastic -- could be they've changed hands since some of these negative reviews were posted. I visited this place while I was visiting Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. What a pleasant surprise. As soon as I walked in, I was instantly hit with the scent of baked potatoes. Yumm. Garlic butter & Cheddar Potato was fantastic and the sandwich I ordered "Ham and Havarti" was delicious. I really appreciated the clean bathroom when I walked in to wash my hands. If they keep the bathroom this clean, I am sure they keep everything else clean as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and I would definitely come back again. read more

I agree with Vanessa on this one. There aren't a lot of cheap options in Annapolis. The idea of a baked potato cafe is pretty cool, but it has to be done right. This isn't really right. The potatoes are certainly microwaved....I'm not a fan a microwaved potatoes, but I understand if they can't have them sitting in an oven all day. The chicken is some prepackaged salad chicken. To say that this place serves baked potatos is a bit of an understatement; these are more works of culinary art than anything else. I have not encountered a single place anywhere else that serves potatos like the ones at Potato Valley. Each potato comes with lettuce, cucumbers, and other fresh garden vegetables. Some even include mangoes, pineapples, and artichokes hearts! You can choose from a wide variety of stuff, be it a "vegetarian" potato, ham and garlic, or my personal favorite: chicken curry with pineapple. While this is more or less a "buisiness lunch" type place and the cost per-person is definately under $10, this place also isn't "budget," per se; if you want that, go to Subway. I'd give this place five stars, except they have kind of weird operating hours and are never open for dinner on weekdays. So four stars... and maybe if they get more staff members and stay open longer, this would be worth five. read more

I walked in and checked out the menu~ looked pretty great. The older gentleman at the register didn't smile or greet us which i thought was pretty strange. But i asked for a potato with broccoli. In his deadpan voice he said "we don't have broccoli here and pointed to the menu and said look at the menu". So i took a second look and saw the broccoli & cheese potato. So they DO have broccoli. I asked if i could get a broccoli potato with no cheese and he said no. I had to order EXACTLY as the menu stated. Such a bummer. Baked potatoes aren't particularly my favorite style of potatoes to eat but since they were known for it, I wanted to give it a try. The owner was very friendly and even let us try the roasted dutch onions before we ordered our food. I ordered the Garlic Butter and Cheddar potato and my Fiance ordered the Smoked Turkey Sandwich. Wow-in a small tourist oriented & friendly town, an almost hostile person took our order, delivered a dish with items not listed on the menu (olives) and others inedible (mango with the outer skin not removed). I just ordered a baked potato with chili and cheese from DoorDash and had to provide some feedback. It's AMAZING, like as in best baked potato I've ever had! The potato itself is huge, creamy not dry, perfectly cooked! Chili has a nice bite and consistency, plus the banana peppers and jalapeños added that extra kick I love. The food here was bang bang. I was skeptical at first like, will a potato really fill me up that much? Could it really be that interesting? Until I got the spinach and feta potato and was slapped in the mouth hole with deliciousness and texture. The skin was perfectly crispy and tasted like a french fry. The insides were stuffed with cucumber, a delicious feta sauce, and these little crunchy things that just added so much character. Husband got the Cuban potato. He's not very excitable bit if he eats the food and nods it's a good sign. So I'm sure his was delicious as well. Highly recommend this place for veg heads and meat eaters alike.
