Heard good things about Potbelly but I had never been. Today I had BOGO free sandwich coupon as well as a coupon for a free cookie (downloaded the ap for both) so I figured I'd give them a shot. Ordered through the ap so it would be ready to go when I got there which was super convenient. Having never been before I didn't realize all of the subs were toasted (skimmed through the yelp reviews and saw one that said if you liked toasted subs like Quiznos you wouldn't like Potbelly) I took that to mean that they weren't toasted. I personally don't like toasted subs soooo yea that kinda sucked when I picked up my sub and it was toasted. The flavor and bread itself was good even though it was toasted. I'm sure untoasted is even better. Loved the topping choices and there was plenty of those and meat. They only have kettle cooked or low fat chip options, I don't like either so I decided to try their potato salad. It was decent although a little gloopy. The cookies were very good. I took my daughter there today to get a milkshake since Sweet Frog was closed. Upon entering, one of the employees told me I needed to wear a mask (which I was in the process of attempting to get a knot out of). I put my mask on and walked up to the counter. The young man started in on me about how important it was to wear a mask (I was wearing a mask). Then he proceeded to tell me my daughter needed to be wearing a mask (she's not even three). The Governor's executive order is for children over 9. The guy continued to argue with me and then told us we needed to wait outside. Keep in mind, there was only one other customer in the store at the time. When the milkshake was done, he came out and slammed it down on the outdoor table and walked off. As we got up to leave, the people eating outside who witnessed this, told me they were just in Potbelly with no masks and the same guy didn't say a word. I'm not sure if this guy hates women, children or both but his ignorance of the law is no excuse for such abusing behavior! read more

I guess I don't know what I was expecting, but it was just a regular sandwich. And not too many ways to really customize, so I'm not sure what I could have chosen differently. Bread was alright, nothing to be impressed by with the meat and cheese. Just a sandwich. Service was great and the restaurant was very clean--of course they just had their grand opening! There is not a lot of seating, so heads up at lunch time, and a large chunk of it is directly next to the ordering line so it gets a bit cramped and you lose some personal space. I come here at least once a week for a quick lunch. Yes it is a chain but the GM John goes out of his way to make sure not just his customers are treated right, but his employees as well. There simply needs to be more workers during peak times of the day and more attention made for each order. We came in this afternoon and ordered a to-go order for lunch. It was over 20 minutes AFTER we paid that we received our shakes. We watched almost a dozen people get their sandwiches and pay before we got our shakes. Other smoothies and shakes were also served but they were still "working on ours" apparently. The food is OK. I had a Wreck while my spouse had a meatball sub. Mine seemed OK, I did think the hot peppers were a stand out. They had carrots in them similar to a Muffuletta olive spread which added some crunch. The meatball was boring and she didn't eat it all, it just wasn't worth the calories. The real disappointment is the staff. Not in a big way but they all seem like they are going through the motions or just not trained for customer service. 'Hey how's the meatball sub?'. 'I don't know, I don't eat meatballs.' Way to sell it buddy. A sweeper asked if he could sweep under our table while we are eating. We could have said no, but I wasn't there to train the staff on what is appropriate. This is my "go to" place for a CHEAP, quick sandwich done my way. The cookies in themselves are to die for, and worth the trip alone. The sweet tea, thanks to the great Manager, John, is real traditional so sweet it hurts your teeth, good, which you never find in this county. I cant say enough about the quality of the food and the portion sizes; I dont think a lot people know what to expect, but I highly recommend it.
